Just got my order from simply games. Sorry Shopto but I'm moving over to simply from now on.
True, that. Especially since it seems to make a lot more sense that Big Boss will be killing loads of people in this game.
But seriously...playing through a fifty-hour Metal Gear game without a single alert? I'm guessing this is a platinum trophy I shall not be earning.

That is the best change. Every single metal gear I do nothing but tranquilizer people because of penalties but this game seems to encourage the use of lethal weapons. I'll do a little of both in this.
Can you not refund on steam and order at simply to get it tomorrow? Unless you really want to play it on PC.
No alert rewards are usually stuff veteran players earn on speed run replays. Either that, or a very careful first playthrough. The former will not take anything close to 50 hours, once you know the fastest and best ways to tackle each mission and what optional stuff to ignore, plus skipping all the cutscenes.
Surely that's mission-by-mission though?
As in, surely you don't have to play the whole thing without alert start-to-finish, in one 'save'? Ie you can get the platinum doing missions repeatedly and trying to perfect them each in their own instance.
The only thing that would annoy me is if you're at the end of a long mission and you accidentally kill someone. Suddenly that big bonus is gone, whereas in GZ it'd just be a small penalty for a single person. But if you kill one you can go wild and kill them all.
Where are you getting the alert trophy from? Is that a secret achievement? By the scoring it looks like you could get away with an alert if you don't kill.
I enjoy doing Big Boss runs in MG games fortunately.

Those are per mission, you probably don't need to worry about game totals if it's like Peace Walker.
Exactly.
It's not like if you get an alert near the end of the game, the trophy is gone. You'll easily be able to just retry that mission and do it without alerts.

I tried, but as I had played four hours of Ground Zeroes (it was a preorder bonus) they refused my refund. I even said in the refund notes I would be willing to pay separately for GZ but the bastards shut me down. Shit thing is, I have had GZ on the PS4 for like a year

Correct. Also, if you mess up, you don't have to repeat the entire mission. You just have to reload the last checkpoint.

Looks like it still makes up the majority of the score like in GZ and every other past MGS game. In GZ you could finish missions in a few minutes if you knew what you were doing. People hoping for S ranks on their first playthrough will probably be disappointed though.
From what I understand - and if it's like PW - getting better gear as Mother Base grows will make it much easier too. I figure you go at your own pace for the first of each story mission.
Also certain missions in GZ you could do optional things like rescuing non-essential prisoners to boost your score. Might be possible here. Of course I'm just interpolating information from one score screen so don't take my word as gospel.

Preordered it from gamemania in NL, but also ordered it from Simply Games. It shipped yesterday, but not sure if it is going to arrive before the actual release date.
Worked out as 10 euros cheaper than gamemania, which is good to know for future games.

My SimplyGames order was dispatched yesterday but didn't arrive today
Can't play til Saturday anyway, then got 5 days off to play the shit out of it. Not been this excited for a release for a while, GTAV probably.
Just assuming. There's a long list of hidden trophies that (I think) are still unknown, and after MGS4's trophy list, I'd not think they'd be kind. We'll see how it goes. If it's there, it'd probably be part of a post-game emblem requirement.

Truly the worst video games company in the UK. No question about it. It's just a shame they keep getting all the damn exclusives.
I just found the Xbox One achievement list and it shows all the hidden ones I think. Some of them are vague, like the Hero rank one, but no obvious spoilers or no alert run trophies.
I think you'd probably do the bulk of the main missions as no alert for S Rank, but I don't see why you'd have to do them all. And again restart checkpoint really helps, it looks the penalty is less than if you were to get multiple alerts. Not as liberal as GZ though.
So if you get Perfect Stealth + No Kills, you could probably Restart Checkpoint as much as you want and still get S Rank. I think. Unless perfect stealth includes no restarts.

You only get the (British) Royal Mail first class delivery free, and that's often 1 day. If you are outwith the Royal Mail first class region (UK only), you probably can't get the next-day delivery
