Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain | Review Thread | Words That Kill

The fact that people are playing this now and I don't get to play until Tuesday night is killing me.

I'm glad the impressions are really positive and jiving with reviewers so far though :)

I got very quick responses, hell I even got a response at 23:30 . Last time I send them an email ( I believe Monday ) I got a response in five minutes.
Really? :O
You sent in a ticket, or did you use their email address?
(asking because their email seems to be for business purposes :P)

Simply Games order at 02:07 yesterday. Despatched at 4pm.

Arrived today.

It's now in my house, and I'm at work. ARRHHH!

Amazing service though. Simply Games have secured my custom.

their email, it even says that they prefer you to email if you have questions ;) it's the info@ email that I'm talking about.

Great if true, that saves me some time atleast after my restore.

Might be bad info, don't take it as a certainty!

I don't mind about a 5 min install, personally. I prefer to go make a cup of tea and let games install fully before I boot them up, just so there's no question.

Thank the lord. For a moment I was worried you were one of those unrefined homunculi in that colonial antipodean cesspit.

I'm certainly an abominable, abnormal genetic mishmash, but I was plopped from my parents' loins on the shores of good ol' Blighty.

Not literally on the shores. I can't stand sand.

But yeah, I only have to wait until Saturday. And even that's killer.

Rub it in why don'tcha?!

I'm waiting on the console too and they've said it's on its way, whatever that is worth, but I doubt they'll break street date on that. I'm so fucking zen about it right now.

God speed brother.

My postman did my next door neighbours house then fucked off down the street for about an hour came back with it. A true Diamond Dog.

Consider yourself lucky, I ran into my postman on his rounds and asked if theres any parcels and he said no. Worst thing is there still may be, often he says there isn't then delivers them anyway. Pretty tempted to go to the sorting office if they don't drop it off since I'm paying for next day delivery and it never ever actually happens.

Does that mean they will let you pick it up early, or do they generally stick to release dates?

Are u talking about me specifically or normally? Normally it's waiting until release unless they get the message from HQ that the game can be sold earlier. This doesn't happen often, and usually only occurs when other stores have started to sell.

Just got my despatch email.

Should be with me tomorrow. And I'm working every day until Wednesday.

Knew I should have booked time off.

Cheers - yeah was talking generally.

Will see what happens...

I'm so torn on whether to get this for PC or PS4. Is there a definitively optimal version between the two choices?

You get the console exclusive companion app and Metal Gear Online sooner on PS4.

If those things don't matter I'd say go for the platform you prefer more. PC version will look better.

Lots. You're looking at ~40 hours to complete the base story. Probably another 10-20 to get all the story aspects complete/collected (side missions, cassettes, etc).

Then there's the evidently endless amount of easter eggs, hidden content and replayability. Lots of people seem to have 70 or even 90+ hour counts already.

That's great news!

I just did mission 3 where
you have to assassinate the commander in the village. I made it all the way to his shack without being spotted and took him out with a single silent shot while he's listening to Kim Wilde.
It was just such a fucking brilliant climax of atmosphere, immersion and surreal eccentricity. I haven't experienced a gaming rush like that in a while.

I utterly, completely adore this game.

Cheers :)

Any word on how long the opening cutscene is?(Answer in spoilertags pls) Will order a pizza if its 20mins+ and non-interactive :P

I haven't played the game, so no spoilers here.

As far as I know most of the cutscenes in the game are semi-interactive. Like, it'll seamlessly run back into gameplay for a moment then back into cutscene without any breaks.

So I don't think you'll be able to scoff pizza while watching!

(Get pizza anyway. I'm hungry at work and jealous.)

surprised at how high the score is.

I remember they gave Arkham Knight a 10

Yeah different reviewer but i finished Arkham Knight and that was far away from being a 10 for me personally, i'd give it a 8.5 or something like that.
