R.Mika confirmed for Street Fighter V

Hm, I saw at least four of her normal attacks have carried over from A3, including crouch strong (please give that move godly anti-air properties, at face value it's near useless otherwise).

And like I mentioned once before, Capcom knows where its bread is buttered regarding Mika, not at all surprised at the fan service.

So fan theories then? Alright.

Capcom seem to write Zangief as gay, though. When you complete Street Fighter II with him he dances erotically with Gorbachev. Even more tellingly, if you complete the game again with 100% collectables, he kisses him on the lips.

I'm pretty happy with R Mika in this; she looks the right kinda goofy. Her character art has a wrestling ring in the background too; all other character art has had a stage that's in the game behind them so I hope that means we're getting a nice, bright wrestling ring!

I'm a little surprised Capcom didn't take steps to make her look a little more acceptable in this day and age. It's pretty embarrassing.

why should they have to?

not everything has to appeal to puritan values.

Especially since this character never was. The type of character she is based off of generally isn't. And it does not fit her play-style either.

Plus boob giggle aside, Chun Li is a pretty classy character overall...so there is room for all types.

sorry but this idea that everything has to change to appease todays quick to outrage culture really pisses me off.

You can not like the design (I think it looks a little silly...but it fits tho) but get off your high horse with that embarrassing or problematic crap.

There are 3 slots left for returning characters

Looking at the layout

Green Section = SF2 and SF3 characters
Alex and Urien yet to be revealed

Purple Section = SFA characters
Karin yet to be revealed

Hahaha. That's completely understandable, and I'm sure my niece and nephew will think she's awesome. However, I'm not "think(ing) of the children!" or worried about their narrowed eyes. I'm a little more worried about the grown adult "video games are for children and perverts" reactions. We'll chalk this one up to my own insecurities. I have no problems admitting that.

Heh My wife hates anything videogames that isn't Ms. PacMan or Mario, so I understand.

Absolutely awful character design, but everything else looks excellent. Dropping pipe bombs and stunners works for me. Hopefully she'll get a good alt costume.

This

Why would she be plus sized if that isnt how her character is originally designed?
Why would birdie be fat now? Why would Ken be ugly? Why would Nash be zombified? It's no secret that Capcom was rather keen on redesigning some of the returning cast. I figured a r.mika redesign would have been in the realm of possibility considering such.

The buildup to these things (besides natural hype) seems so... lacking. Which sucks, because I rather like Blonde Shermie[//strike] Mika in Alpha. I would have loved more hints and teases and such leading up to this. A Nadeshiko silhouette tease could have been a fun throw-off.

Anywho... RAINBOW! I'm impressed by the tag-team action! That's unique for mainline Street Fighter, for sure. Will Yoko also make an appearance on that Gold Caddy of hers? The removal of the Turn Buckle and ring for a tag partner is a fair compromise.

With her being a flashy pro-wrestler type, I... never really focus much on how revealing her outfit is. It doesn't clash with what she is, y'know? Mika's meaty look (Even by SF Standards) is always what stands out to me about her. Nice unique Silhouette.

I hope I like her motions in this game. I never cared for Capcom grapples, so much more an SNK grappler fan. If I can feel more like I'm playing a Maxima, B. Mary, or Shermie, I might really enjoy her inclusion.

Hope things stay fresh and fun like this. Birdie and Mika both make a stronger impression than a stagnant transplant from older showings would have allowed for. Capcom seems to be in top form for this game, and I'm pretty happy about that.

Is it really that extreme to think she could have been adjusted to be a little less pandering? On top of that, the old "This is how she was before!" doesn't really matter to me. Capcom can do better, I just wish they did.

2015: Make everything boring

If ass-slaps and heart titties are what makes things exciting, I don't know what to say.

She's a female wrestler not a nun.

A nun would be cool though.

(I know there's a cross-dressing nun-looking kid in Blaz Blue or GG)

Female wrestlers are typically just plain badass, times are a-changin'

Yes, there are exceptions, but overall things are changing, and I couldn't be happier. Women can be wrestlers without the expectation of their tits exploding out of their tops or having exposed butts. It's a good thing.

YES! Now I have two, TWO (including Cammy sorta) female grapplers to play with (technically three with Nadeshiko :p)

But let us not forget the hidden bonus;

Somebody is going to make a Steve Austin skin for R. Mika on the PC version of SFV. He is going to have her move set and animations.

Now watch that trailer again with Steve Austin in your mind.

You're welcome.

The speedo wearing Russian who 'Wrestles Bears', hmmmm.

Plus he keeps a picture of Vega next to his mirror

zangief-ssf2t-end.gif

That's not a 'I love you' photo. It's a 'fuck you, you're next' photo. Considering he drew cat whiskers and wrote 'jackass' on it.

EDIT: I was beaten.

Fan theories are okay. Even if officially Poison is a cisgendered female, the community prefers her to be transgender. Another assertion I hear that I don't think is official canon is that Ken is 3/4s Japanese. Think he's just straight-up Anglo officially nowadays. I think these theories are fun.

Yeah, it evokes the memory of Rocky in Russia when he had the Dolph Lundgren photo next to his mirror.

SolidSnakex who is that in your avatar? She is so pretty. <3

Shraddha Kapoor

Birdie changed because he really isn't a popular character, so a dramatic visual change won't receive much backlash in comparison to if they were to do that with a popular character. Ken isn't supposed to be ugly, they've already said that all characters are still in development. They've been tweaking characters as they go along. And Nash still looks just like Nash except with the green skin.

Also Mika is Ono's favorite character, why would he change her?

I mean I get it and for wrestling fans in the real world that's nothing but a good thing. But why are we suddenly holding Street Fighter to a higher standard? Everything is over the top in these games.

Mika's outfit goes with her bombastic wrestling personality. Sure it may turn some people off like many things in video games but I don't see why the creators should treat her any differently than they do their other male and female characters exposing too much skin.

Totally off-topic, but kissing was a thing between communist leaders: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialist_fraternal_kiss
Maybe that's why!?

The pandering isn't even that bad considering what it could have been. It's easily ignorable in my opinion.

Bra and Panties matches were quality sports entertainment.

Not at all an opportunity for fans to run to the toilets or snack bar. :V

Something-something power fantasy.
Zangief isn't designed to be attractive to female players. Mika on the other was designed to appeal to males.

Wanna know what happens when it actually happens? Look at the Final Fantasy mobile game where the main character was really sexualized. Look at how many male gamers biched about it.
