R.Mika confirmed for Street Fighter V

As someone who's never seen or heard of the character, she looks ridiculous. After seeing her original pixel art, however, I can say that this rendition definitely looks correct. Props to Capcom for sticking true to source and not feeling they have to change it up.

She was on my list of most wanted characters.

The point is that it's wacky. "Better" is what you want. They don't have to abide by newer Western ideologies that something must be this way.

It's funny when people talk about who R. Mika appeals to. I'm not into wrestling now for many obvious reasons but back in my middle school days I couldn't get enough of it and I loved played the N64 wrestling titles by AKI so R. Mika just hits that sweet point of interesting and nostalgia for me. It'll be so interesting to see how creative people will get with her tag V-Trigger combos. I can't wait to hit the lab with her. I don't even want to play the beta now because I just want to get my R. Mika on.
 
r mikas design is perfectly fine.

urien wears nothing but speedos and has the most sexual innuendos in street fighter history in his win quotes yet people dont say shit about him.

As a character was has been consistently been the butt of jokes of fans and capcom alike, she is the comic relief character besides Birdie that was needed to balance things out from all those serious characters that we have right now.
 
Despite the fact that I really don't like R.Mika I am happy that her fans get to play her again. I'm shocked they didn't give her a costume that wasn't fucking embarrassing though. Here's hoping for a good alt.

Ok Capcom, you gave the few Mika fans what they wanted. Now throw the handful of Oro fans a bone why don't you?

That's because he is an exception to the rule and genuinely unique as a somewhat sexualized, male Bishi character . That's obvious.

I don't really care either way, but come on. You can't compare Mika to Urien when most of the female cast features some kind of sexual exaggeration.

Bolded is the disconnect here.

I don't think covering her up and making her more conservative is better. Not because I like TnA or want to be pandered to but because it does not fit the character and it is boring as fuck and SFV needs some of that classic SF wackiness. If SF was this super legit super realistic serious fighter, then yeah Mika wouldn't fit...its not tho,..so your idea of better would actually be worse.

and honestly being forced to change a design because some people are upset is not something I'd like to see precedent for. I feel like as long as the design fits the world and character a designer should be able to do whatever they want. This idea that everything has to be this safe and unoffensive norm is just bullshit.

With all these fan faves making the initial roster it definitely makes one wonder how Capcom plans to string this eclectic group into any kind of coherent story mode.

Capcom always promises a more robust story mode in their games and then they end up just being like any other fighting game story mode. Basically arcade mode with some different anime and/or cutscenes. Hopefully with SF V they'll be a bit of a change and evolution there. I believe Matt said that it was gonna be different this time around but they said that about Marvel vs Capcom 3 and that was pretty bare bones.

SF2 characters and Birdie - tying up the SF2 storyline.
SFV - whatever SFV is about
R. Mika - the El Fuerte/Blanka/Elena. Just in the game looking for the ultimate leotard or something.

I just don't see how titties on a supreme scale and cheeks mean wackiness. On top of that, it's not that people want "less" people to be offended - it's a good target to try to make NOBODY offended. If you end up saying (and you're not saying this, just an example) "Well 45% of people are offended. Not a majority, so..." or "Only 10% of people are offended. Hell that's almost perfect!" - that's not the goal. The goal is nobody.
 
They made Mika's proportions even more exaggerated than they were almost 2 decades ago. Can't say I hate it tho. The redesign of the outfit is subtle but shows her growth in the ring

Now what would really make me disappointed is if they kept Karin in the schoolgirl outfit. She should reflect her older self and that means getting rid of the crimson fuku. I'm assuming they will keep some element of the bike shorts and leather top combo though.
 
Only missing character that I really wanna see in at this point is Q. They put him in, and this might become my most anticipated game in a very long time.

I prefer artists designing characters the way they want them to look and representing their own visions instead of trying to design everything to appeal to as many sensibilities as possible and not offend anyone.

Well people are going o be offended by default. There is no way no one is offended. If you change her to be more conservative, your pandering to the PC police, if you don't change her, your pandering to sexual male fantasies.

They just went with her original tone but more, so they obviously decided being true to what the character was was more important than appeasing a segment of the population who were not happy with the original character to begin with.

urien is not bishonen. he is too muscular and aggressive in expression. vega and remy are closer bishonen fits than anything. urien and gill both have marble statue figures to show off what they were able to do in spriting back then.

the thing i dislike is the over the top jiggles. if they remove them it should be fine. but that doesnt mean that certain body types cannot be allowed to dress like other chars.

thats like saying bayonetta is objectified. pro sex or pro body doesnt mean objectified. and seeing how they all kick ass in street fighter there shouldnt be a problem, especially with male objects like vega urien ken ryu and possibly the remaining stuff also offering a nice "view"
 
I like that how after the McWhopper crush, Mika and partner each grab one of Vega's legs and slam him into the ground. Good attention to detail.

YT on 0.25 speed if you can't catch it.

That's fine. They should be ready for criticism, and I don't doubt the SF team is. I also appreciate artistic vision.

Women have titties, some big some small. I don't see how having diversity is a bad thing and/or making something hyper sexualized. Sure if every woman character in the game had the same over the top proportions then I think we'd have a problem, but they don't. People talk about Cammy's ass all the time but honestly it's not even that big compared to what's out there in the real world, same goes for the chest on R. Mika.

I mean hell, R. Mika's trainer could've been in the game. You can't say R. Mika's chest is massive once you see her.

Mika looks great. Built like a strong wrestler with awesome Joshi costume. Flying Hip Attack is so hype. Look that way she points "to the crowd" during the super.
