Rumor (with a side of salt): Shovel Knight coming to Smash Wii U/3DS?

Maybe they should allow Mii Fighters to be used in For Fun/For Glory matches if they want Mii costumes to sell more >_>

It's mind numbing at this point why they aren't allowed, considering they're allowed in Tournies.

If Tournies allowed 1v1 Tournies, there'd really be no point in For Glory even existing. Maybe that's why the feature doesn't exist lol.

Nice, other Frigate Orpheon fans DO exist! That stage was so cool.

I just want that and Pirate Ship to return as DLC. Anything else is just gravy.

Both of these stages have cut music from Brawl, so both have a chance.

I enjoy making music lists, so here's what I want

Orpheon:
Metroid Prime Title (Old Remix)
Vs Quadraxis (Original)
A new Vs Parasite Queen Remix for the one DLC Remix, since the original is used already
Vs Omega Ridley (Original)
Phednrana Drifts Depths (Original)
Tallon Overworld (Original), because it's not a Metroid stage without a Brinstar Remix

Pirate Ship
Great Ship (Original HD)
Molgera (Original)
Realm Overworld/Full Speed Ahead! (Original)
Dragon Roost Island Remix, because I know this is Nintendo's favorite song from Wind Waker
Lake Hylia (Original)
Ganondorf's Theme (Original HD)

And for giggles, Melee stages:

Great Bay
Saria's Song (Old Remix)
Ikana Valley (Original)
Deku Palace (Original)
Clock Town as the new Remix for the stage
Majora's Wrath (Original)
Clock Town Hyrule Warriors (Original)

Fourside
Fourside (Old Remix)
You Call This a Utopia (Old Remix)
Humoresque of a Little Dog
Fourside (Orginal)
Hippie's Theme (Original)
Twoson as the one new remix

Nintendo's been promoting Smash character DLC hardcore on Twitter and Facebook. Not even the recent stage stuff but rather "New characters available" in the form of Ryu and friends. New new characters approaching?
I've noticed this all week. It's likely just a coincidence, or Nintendo trying making up for the fact that we won't get a character anytime soon.

Lmao

Said before and I'll say again, the fact that there is no way to just unlock all customs and to use mii fighter costumes online is ridiculous. Both seem like huge oversights.

Something about potentially "offensive" Miis, like say Hitler and stuff iirc. Though you can see people's Miis on the Wii U version anyways, so their reasoning is flawed.

Custom moves and Mii Fighters should totally be allowed in most online modes in a future patch :/

Mhmm, right in line with the coincidental downtime during new DLC times :p
If you mean the maintenance, it's likely just maintenance. We would have heard about Smash Direct or something by now if we were gonna get a character. That being said, I'd love to be wrong.

But I can use Hitler against random people in Tournies, so that excuse by Sakurai is meaningless since the last patch.

The time of the maintenance doesn't line up with the other random server work, which happens in the middle of the night PST.

It's the same time the last DLC patch hit.

Thank Christ this turned out to be false. Now stop distracting Sakurai from doing the lords work and porting snake over
We don't know if it's false, yet. Tamaki said that we should see SK in the next month or two. PushDustIn is also backing Tamaki up on the scoop.

One of the biggest issues I always saw in regards to Snake was his English voice acting. Who would voice him now? Kiefer Sutherland would cost a fortune and be out of the question, and isn't there a lot of bad blood between Hayter and Konami? To the point where he might not be allowed to reuse Brawl's voice clips?

Supposedly Kiefer Sutherland was recommended to Kojima by Avi Arad (the man who ruined Spider-Man before Marvel saved the day).

It was a miracle Hayter was even able to voice him in Brawl to start with due to union stuff.

I imagine he'd completely re-use his Brawl clips and codecs would be entirely gone. That's the only way I see it working. New codecs are basically impossible anyway, because Colonel's Japanese voice actor is dead and the character will no longer be used, leaving a pretty important character and ally of Snake to mysteriously not be used for Codecs.

So far the only vets to get new lines were ones that changed actors (Fox, Pit, Falco), ones that changed to a more faithful actor (Lucario), ones needed for gameplay (Ness, Kirby) or... just because they felt like it? (Charizard). Lucas doesn't have new lines, they just slightly pitch adjusted some of his hurt lines to sound more like squeals. The Brawl lines are high enough quality to re-use. Roy and Mewtwo were required because the Melee samples were too old and low quality.

Sutherland also hasn't played Solid Snake, and the reason Kojima gave for getting him was because Big Boss needed to sound older and rugged and Big Boss hadn't always been voiced by Hayter anyway (like MGS4).

Solid is 100% Hayter though, and it will be incredibly off putting if Konami blocks him from ever voicing the character again.

Also, if you thought Pit forgetting who Lucas was is bad, Pit would forget who Snake is lmao. One of the most important new comers in Brawl and one of the larger characters in the Subspace and Pit totally forgot who he is.

What if.....SK only appears as a DLC throphy pack like the inklings did? I can TOTALLY see that happening to be honest.
Can you see that happening or is that what you want to happen? :3

But I think Shovel Knight's Amiibo could unlock a trophy of him and maybe a few other Knights from his game.

Oh, didn't know that. However, I don't think that'd make a deal with Sakurai and Co. any easier...Fella's a pricey one!

Yeah, Chris Pratter said as much, and it'd be even more of a miracle to get him back now I bet. Sadly I think you're right, Codecs would have to be gone entirely (and what a loss that'd be, they eat Palutena's Guidance for breakfast).

Albeit Brawl's voicework is indeed high quality enough to be reused (doesn't more than half of the veterans use their Brawl clips?), I don't know how bad things are between Konami and Hayter. They may not agree to having Snake appear voiced by someone they don't want anything to do with anymore, even if it's all old voice clips.

Hahah yeeeeah I always thought that, though inevitable, the workaround for the DLC characters' Guidances was silly, especially if they already knew a Brawl veteran would return. If Snake ever comes back and the Codecs are absent, too, it'd make the 50 Smash Facts Extravanganza amusing in retrospect, given it went out of its way to namedrop the Codecs in question.

I can imagine the codecs getting a potential rewrite where it's only Otacon as Snake's contact, and maybe Raiden as the 'Viridi' of the group, leaving little to no mention of colonel.

But then there would be the issue of getting those voice actors and potential guests like Chrom or Slippy.

There's also the option to go cheap and recreate the codecs to be in the style of Metal Gear 2, only the portraits, and sound fx for speech. (With colonel not there of course.) Be much easier to make codecs for dlc characters if they did it this way also.

Actually, on that note, I was kind of thinking the stage would be based on Metal Gear NES, for simplicity's sake due to the 3DS.

Shadow Moses Island, while probably the most fitting stage for the Metal Gear series, is also one of the more graphically advanced stages in Brawl, and also it'd be awkward to bring it back without codecs. Remaking it in PS style for the 3DS might be kind of cool, though. But that's more effort than it might be worth.

Outer Heaven in sort of a 2D sprite style would be decent. Especially if they incorporate some mild Engrish into it as well. Imagine a text codec for Jigglypuff that mentions "I feel asleep"

Yea, most fighters use Brawl clips. Even when they clearly needed to be remade due to being garbage, like Mario.

They should have had two generic Guidances. One for Pit recognizing the fighter (not by name), and one without. It could have worked.

"Ah, I'd recognize that face anywhere"
"Can't say I recognize this fighter, but it seems you already know how to defeat this one"
"Yea, it was before your time, Lady Palutena"
"I'll apply the knowledge gained from the last Brawl to fight my enemies!"

Just trying to keep expectations in check. It be nice for SK to be playable though. Since fans really want him. Me? I just want more characters.

Fair enough. I am actually not expecting this rumor to be confirmed. In fact, all I want is an announcement of... DLC characters and/or stages.

If they're going to do the slow daily NoJ Twitter reveals like they did last time, we'd probably get our first one within the next few hours.

Psssh, it's the weekend. I don't know if they ever tweet during weekends. I don't think I would expect anything this Monday. Just hope that you are right that they are going to show something on 1st anniversary but I have a doubt.

I have a strange feeling that we probably wouldn't hear anything until October 2015.

There's just so much smoke and too many coincidences at this point, I'll be shocked if nothing happens Monday.

-scheduled maintenance during prime time playing hours that match the time of day from the last DLC release.
-1 year anniversary for smash 4
-MGSV eve
-PAX
-all the shovel knight stuff
-all the recent DLC promoting from Nintendo
-sudden activation (as in a few days ago) of the info-ticker at the top of the smash wii u menu, mostly promoting DLC
-my bones ache

The Xenoblade announcement earlier makes me hopeful that NoA has something else to announce this weekend. Something... smashing.

I would dig it.

yo i think theres going to be shit in that new patch, like maybe we'll get some sweet balance changes (make mewtwo the god king he rightfully deserves to be), or to upload matches on youtube that are longer than 2 minutes of whatever the maximum number of minutes is. theres no direct or anything breh, you guys are setting yourselves up for disappointment.
