Rumor (with a side of salt): Shovel Knight coming to Smash Wii U/3DS?

FD version of Great Offensive is glorious but that doesn't stop the stage from being such trash. Sakurai still hasn't gotten what made Temple great, to be fair Temple was just everything that could have gone right, did.
I wonder if he'll reveal the resutls of the poll after their closed, I would love to see who made it to the top

What I find super odd about Temple in this game is how the AI all go down to the tiny bottom platform in the stage. They refuse to spread out.

Okay that's a bit weird. I assumed they were adding in characters because of fan request. I recall Sakurai saying not to expect a lot of license characters and then we got Ryu and now looks like we might be getting Shovel Knight.

Pretty sure the Ryu bit was part of the Mega Man deal. Add Mega Man but you gotta put Ryu in later. I still think SK is a bit reaching, but cant deny the "Slight" possibilty of it happening do to it being the first Indie to get a amiibo.

They should have a pretfygood id w a of whixh characters are ahead of the pack by now.
But it's not like the winner is guaranteed to get in the game.

I mean, if Shovel Knight is as high ahead in the polls as he seems to be, they probably just added him anyway. We've learned that he might not show up until November either, which is after the poll. We may even get an announcement of the results like
"We're pleased to announce the top choices of the ballot alongside its winner, Shovel Knight! On the eShop now!"
Once again, being the winner =/= being guaranteed to get in the game. The Ballot is a suggestion box, not an election. While I do think that Shovel Knight would be in the Top 10, I'm not sure if he'd be #1.

I think the Lava in Great Cave Offensive makes it a really interesting stage, you can't go far without running into something that could instantly kill you. New Pork city, and Palutena's Temple are seriously bloated.

No, but I don't believe they have been resting on their laurels since the release of Ryu, Lucas, and Roy, character-wise. The two stages we've gotten since then are very simple compared to those in the base game, and they have been churning out Mii costumes relatively quickly so I don't think they are a huge stress on their workload.
So you think their efforts are being directed elsewhere. Again, I'm not sure if the Shovel Knight rumor is true or not, but if it is, I doubt we'll hear about it for a while. While PushDustIn is 80% sure that Tamaki is right, there's still that 20% of doubt.

I agree with this post. GCO is pretty fun imo. Even in a 1v1 situation.
I still dont think SK is high enough to be much of a threat to more popular characters.....then again thats just me.

I believe they know by now which characters are the most popular, be them K. Rool, Shovel Knight, or Lip from Panel de Pon. Five months for such a character ballot is simply too much time, and interest in the polling is gonna be frontloaded due to the nature of mass communication today. It makes sense for them to start working on characters while voting time is going on.

But remember, if Goku is the winner there is not a 100% chance that he will become a playable character. Again, the winner was never guaranteed to become playable just because they get the most votes. While it would increase the percentage of a character if they get the most posts, it could at most increase their chances to around 70% or so, which is 30% less than the full 100% needed to be sure the character is coming.
Of course, Sakurai does what he wants at this point so nobody can say any percentages for sure, making even a 100% not guaranteed.

Forgot the polls closed in October, added in more votes for Bomberman, Paper Mario, and Paper Boy.

I stopped playing Smash 3DS not because of the stick, but because it killed my shoulder buttons. :/In a sense, yes.
Honestly, I'm not fan of 3DS stick. I'm trying to enjoy it but sometime, I couldn't because of analog stick. I'm fine with most of stages being exclusive to 3DS but just give me few favorite stages.

I'm sure they are filtering the dumb character choices out. It's gonna be a mixture of those characters that rank high and that Sakurai deems viable for development.

But remember, we don't even know how well certain characters are doing in the ballot yet, and even then there isn't a high percentage that we will get newcomers. We'll likely get Wolf but that's it.

Naturally. I was just mentioning them as examples. For all we know, it's probably Goomba or Koopa who's leading the ballot.
Regarding veterans, I do believe that they are working at least on Wolf. He's easier to implement from Brawl than anyone else due to how his body structure is similar to Fox.
Goomba would honestly be a great final unlock but would almost be the greatest final unlock that could never be bested so they'd almost have to save it for a very special occasion.
Though failing that I did suggest that eShop Bag could have a Goomba based design (they are after all both one mass with two small feet) so get voting for Bag!

If Waddle Dee supporters don't understand why Goomba got in over it they are delusional. Goomba is after all one of the most iconic minions in gaming.
Up there with Space Invaders and Ghosts from Pac-Man.

I figured people wanted Waddle Dee because there's a unique bandanna-wearing one in several of the games now who normally shows up as one of the playable characters. He'd work as a Pichu-style joke character pretty well IMO.

In that case there would be nothing impeding Goombella from being an alt...
Would be a perfect oportunity to put a new character as an alt !
...which means that they will totaly not do because alt costumes is THE place for missing oportunities in smash bros games =P

Yup, yup. Granted, Ridley's too much even for me but I actually love the Yellow Devil. Doesn't take too long to kill and I love throwing other fighters in the explosion.
And I play on The Great Cave Offensive all the time in both regular/8-Player Smash and never have a problem.
That's interesting! Granted, it could mean nothing; there was nothing stopping you from voting for, say, Mario before. If SK gets in, I doubt they will prohibit future votes. But maybe they'll add a "Ballot pick!" Graphic for him, Wolf, K. Rool, or whoever tomorrow night on the Ballot page, if we do get a character?

I'm ready for Shovel Knight.
If he is in, I do hope he has a Final Smash with alot of Indie characters, like Mega Man's. The Indies would have no problem having them appear in FS and (likely) getting no money for it since I'd think Nintendo would think Indies would be hard to work with. Indies constantly have crossovers all the time and are the most open to them. It would be a grand Final Smash! (And give them all trophies too!)

This would be amazing
If he's getting in, I'm simply just expecting his FS to be the War Horn. I like that Indie All-Stars FS, but I know Shantae'd be a part of it, and even if that'd be a second Indie character in this scenario and the 3rd-4th DLC 3rd Party Newcomer, I'd still like to see them add Shantae as her own fighter!
