This is what I'm doing right, on MGS3's ending now. Going to play GZ right after and hopefully TPP will be ready to go at 12am to download assuming Konami isn't lying.

The lack of climbable surfaces in this game is seriously killing my love of the open world. What should be a minor mechanic flaw I could potentially look past has steadily become a huge problem I can't ignore. Traversal in the second area has become infuriating.
Also Quiet isn't very Quiet. I wish I could mute her.

I haven't finished the game yet so don't say anything haha but
I think if you compare it to PW, it's a fuck ton better and imo has much more interesting boss battles than MGS4's with the exception of the fist fight and ray vs rex, it's definitely miles better than PW's. Where I am in the story now I feel there has been many crazy moments that I could list right now. I think it's just more spread out and that's why you feel that way, if you look at the first 4 MGS games not all cutscenes were batshit crazy or had a revelation. Can't comment on the story as a whole, need to finish it.

These bug me too, snake can climb pipes and cracks but 22 missions in and so far I have encountered 2-3 places for crack climbing and one for pipe. It should be used more often in level design.
And ditto for quiet.

They're in the area displayed, but it might be worth getting D-Dog to follow you and scout them because they can be a pain to find. Search on hills, ledges, behind rocks.

Lol tpp is much better than mgs 4 and imo there is enough story in tpp and it has the best gameplay/level design in vidoes games.

The more I play this game the more dubious I am about all these time-constrained early reviews, and (to an extent) anyone who's "finished" the game already.
I really feel that this isn't a game you want to blast your way through, taking your time will be much more satisfying. So much of the fun is just discovering stuff, and playing with the various tools and mechanics. Each buddy is nicely differentiated to encourage varying styles of approach, and given the way that often bonus mission goals are often mutually exclusive it really makes for an engaging sandbox to play in.
To put it into context, GZ is basically the blueprint for approaching every mission in TPP, and as with that game simply achieving the primary goal and calling it a day, is really missing out on so much of the joy of the thing.

Just spent the 90 minutes before 1.30 am I had to play trying to get this crap to work. sosad. I might just pick upp the disc tomorrow instead.

The more I hear about TPP the hype meter just keeps going down. I am sad to hear the best part of the games and the entire reason I played them has been majorly lessened. I sure hope I am wrong but I am not officially worried about the game.

I didn't finish the game, but I disagree with your ranking. Mgs 3 is my favorite story in the franchise, but mgs v tpp is a gameplay masterpiece. Mgs 3 will always be my favorite story but mgs v is shaping up to be my overall favorite in the series.
