just started playing. didn't like awakening chapter one bit and i'm a huge metal gear fan, i dunno felt weird, maybe i need to tinker with camera settings and such. hopefully game picks up for me from now on.

Im a huge MG fan too and I loved the intro..

Is there a way to check how far the game is installed. Finished prologue to a screen that says

Installing game data...
Do not turn off the system.
507 seconds.

It's been sitting like this for a while.

Is the companion app only for phones? I have a Samsung tablet 3 8.0 and when I download the app it says "its not signed right" or something

I gotta ask this again.
I'm playing with a Dual Shock 4 controller currently. Is there any way to replace the Xbox button symbols in the game with PlayStation symbols, like I could do in Ground Zeroes?
Try replacing them the same way as in GZ or wait for the community to step in.

Edit: ^ they're probably waiting for more stolen keys.

Well, after a death and 8 tranqs to the head, I got me a bear. lol.

Does anyone know if replaying main missions for higher ranks give you the 'full' GMP value again?

I probably shouldn't have built so many of the starting guns.

I have a PS4 but it's running out of space, but my Xbox has a 4tb backup so I'm leaning toward that... Are the differences between the two platforms negligible? I saw someone say that the Xbox version had some stuttering issues which kind of ruined the Witcher 3 for me...

Played for about 10 hours, so far game is living up to the hype.Wish I could play more, but I got class for the next 7 hours zzzzzzzzz

GwyndolynCinder !! Dont post ending spoilers here.. Well they should go in the spoiler thread.

Also, has the companion app worked in conjunction with mgsv yet for anyone?

My playtime is now 18 hours. Overall complete 11%
Man, this game. It's incredible, this game IS the weapon to surpass Metal Gear.

Man what a day: had to give an exam for which i studied all night long, then a trial in a restaurant which was full of clients, 1+ hours to go the store and back.

I'm exausted but now BROTHERS I HAVE THE GAME.

I've never played a MG other than Ground Zeroes is it worth it to get this game?

Did you like Ground Zeroes? If so, don't even think twice, it's an amazing game and improves on that in every possible way. I actually disliked Ground Zeroes and I'm having a blast. You'll miss tons of references and context to stuff, but I still think you can follow the story just fine.

I popped in the disk, turned my head for a minute or two and it was ready to be fired up. It's the update that is holding things up right now (going fast enough and only 421.1 MB though).

Yeah it starts immediately, but it's clearly not fully installed.

I finished the prologue and cannot progress because it isn't fully installed.

AH, alright. Understood, and thanks for pointing that out. I know the games don't fully install that fast and they try to give you enough to get the game going, but I didn't realize you'd spent that much time on it and can't proceed.

Man, just rescued
Kaz
and had to quit to actually at least pretend to study.

This game is fucking nuts also. The most insane opening of any MGS game, they throw you right in the deep end. For some reason I expected it to be slow but the
flaming horse and teleporting zombie squad
certainly proved me wrong.

What do you think the reason is for that?
Major ending spoiler below
I just restarted so i could quiet back

Pretty big spoiler:
Buddies can die, right? I think the game autosaves if they do. And if you only have one save, it has a much larger effect.

Picked up my preorder while driving to work, now 5 hours until I can go home and play.

Quick question for Gaf. I have a wrapped copy of Ground Zeroes at home. Should I play it before this (if so, how quick can I get through it approx.?) or am I okay to just go in. Hype made me preorder, forgot that I ever bought Ground Zeroes...

Under size you should see if it has been installed. Either way reinstall m8. I could play right after the prologue and im on disc as well.

There's not really any indicator as to whether it's been installed or not under information. What am I looking for?

Play it. It's a direct prequel so if you don't, story-wise you might be a little lost. The main mission takes maybe 45-ish minutes to complete if you just want the story.

Wtf man. GZ is like 1-2 hours long, especially if you just roll with it after being spotted. Play that first. I did a 20 minute playthrough of it the morning i got TPP

Why are there credits after every mission? It's really annoying. It's not even the time it wastes because they go by really fast, it's just really really egotistical.
Like a lot of stuff Kojima does, I'm assuming maybe it's a reference to something. I don't know. Is he trying to make it like you're binge watching a tv show maybe?

Or maybe it's just his ego. I don't know. I'm sure I'll get over it eventually.
There's probably a bit of ego in it, but I bet the engineers and the writers/directors of the missions are happy to be credited, and it's not just a 'Hideo Kojima Game'

Play through GZ. TPP takes place immediately after them events and it doesn't take long to breeze through if you just want the story side of it.

There are unlockables that you can transfer over to TPP though if you want to spend a bit more time on GZ for them.

Edit: Top of the world, Ma.

The install is buggin for a lot of people espeially if you rush into playing the game before it finishes installing.

Take the disc out.

Delete the game from your PS4.

Put the disc in.

Leave it for 15-20 minutes.

Boot it up again.
