It's a wonder this hasn't been implemented in other open world games such as Far Cry (although that has more of an emphasis on shooting rather than stealth).

What are the abundance of decoys supposed to counter? Good scouting? Because on a gameplay demo before release the decoy stays on the HUD which I could imagine would be really annoying for those players who love keeping track of everything lol.

Oh, I haven't encountered any decoys yet.

Maybe it's from grabbing everyone? Grab too many people and they place decoys?

Or it could be from high-penetration sniping. So you're more likely to fire and give away your position.

I'm now sending teams out on combat ops to sabotage their gas mask/ammo supplies. Let's see if this works!
And as I type this, I've just seen DD pee.

Shiiiiiit. I can't wait to unlock that.

Oh.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

It all makes fucking sense now.

Yeah baby.

So in my first mission to Afghanistan Ocelot told me I could get rewards for capturing animals, so I went off and developed the capture cage but don't seem to be able to equip it. Do I need to have an animal storage area on Mother Base before I can capture/extract animals?

Also, does it every rain in Afghanistan, or is it always dry & sand stormy?

Dude just tranq and fulton them. I have the capture cage but haven't looked into it yet.

Are there any intermittent sneaking speeds?

I have a fast crous walk and then hold control to move at a snail pace. Is there anything in between?

Chaos Theory had the best mouse controls for sneaking. How do you mix in analog control with a system with no inherent analog ability? The mouse wheel of course. Scroll down to super sneak, scroll up to move quickly.

Is this your first Metal Gear Solid? Because no it's nothing like Splinter Cell.

This stinks, I bought MGS5 on the PC, but I beat Ground Zeroes on the PS4. Now I have to replay Ground Zeroes again on the PC before I can hop in to MGS5.

You won't be smiling when it starts happening. A large number of enemies I face now have gas masks and helmets.

What an incredible game. There I was thinking, 'Man, Smoke Grenades are so OP! Chuck one at three guys and they can't do shit while you run up and wail on them'.

Three hours of gameplay later, every second or third guy I encounter is wearing a gas mask. And what's worse, you can't face-tranq them with a mask on. Only back-of-the-head tranq works. So if a guy spots you, Reflex Mode doesn't even save you.

Just staggering game design. Absolutely fucking staggering.

Do the countermeasures stack, though? Because that would be too OP. If changing your tactics makes it so they just keep adding more protective gear, that would be shitty, it'd be nicer if they keep changing gear.

Also, how do they adapt to CQC holding?

You can equip it on the load out screen. As for the zoo it's automatically built shortly after Ocelot tells you to capture them for rewards.
When your in the ACC select go to MB and press triangle to select a landing point at the Zoo.

Edit: the capture cage gives you rare animals that you can't get by wondering and fultoning.

Ha, my game is the opposite. I tranq guys in the back of the head so much only their faces are exposed. Really nice touch to have each player's set of enemies evolve around their play-style.

I also just wanted to say that this game probably has the best implementation of a weapon wheel I've seen. Splitting it into categories and putting accessories (flashlight, suppressor) on the same menu makes everything super quick to flip between with the d-pad instead of having everything on a wheel when you just want to flip between pistol and rifle.

you can also press square whilst aiming to cycle

Is anyone else getting an audio bug during in between mission cutscenes? The ones where it cuts away to "Flying here" or "Flashback" from the first 2 are having consistent choppiness, like every other bit of sound is nothing, in the audio, but I'm still getting 60 FPS in those scenes. Any ideas?

Xbox One version here, and encountered a very annoying bug which is starting to really ruin the fun for me.

Basically the sound starts to stutter (like Witcher 3 had/has too) and i lose control over Snake. And he then automatically moves into a direction. This website spoke about it as well and they explain it better.

''Another concern I have pertains to the game's performance. Now and then, the game will sharply lag, disorienting audio and dropping frames. I've experienced it perhaps once every 30-60 minutes. During these periods (maybe 2-4 seconds), the game continues to roll, remembering your last controller input and ignoring all others. In a tight spot, it's conceivable that it could have you involuntarily wonder out of cover or put yourself in a dangerous situation.''

That sounds awful. Any other XB1 players having this issue?

Loadouts aren't bad, that's not what i'm getting at. I think they should have kept it to "in-field" changes, or have a loadout selection menu whilst waiting on the chopper, but integrate it into the iDroid or whatever

The horrible loadout menu as it is just feels out of place
Got ya, I think they painted themselves into a wall with all the options for snake as well as using a different character, it almost has to be done that way.

Yay: steelbook edition from Amazon.de came today :)
Boo: steelbook is totally wrecked :(

Oh my fucking god.

I've tried my disc on both my PS4s now, and all it says is "corrupted data." When I click on it, it says "data is corrupted" and "remove disc."

Anyone know if it's possible to
visit D Dog at Mother Base while he's still a puppy? Ocelot mentioned that he was lonely and I should go see him, but I can't find him for the life of me.

The "spoiler" is early game, I'm only about 2 hours in.

Nope.

He has some cinematics before he grow up, but you can't visit him in MB.
He also appears from time to time to receive you from the chopper <3

Is the server maintenance why the mgsv companion app says no data after signing and connecting?

Panda Rin. NO

Ah damn. Dude was using my account, but he didnt get far so its all good. Thanks dawg, for quick response. Was bout to get hella disappointed if cant play it using my psn account, hah.

Yeah, seems you can't do multiple save files. I think there's a reason for that, but it's hard to share without spoiling stuff :p

I started the game already and is probably around 3 hours in. Do I get anything significant by transferring my Ground Zeroes save? I haven't completed it, so I haven't transferred it - though I'm not missing out on anything besides soldiers and Hideo right?

So... I guess they anticipated some of us replacing the cover and wanted it to have some use?

Are there PlayStation symbols for this game on PC? Or do I just use the same mod that they made for Ground Zeroes?
I gotta ask this again.
I'm playing with a Dual Shock 4 controller currently. Is there any way to replace the Xbox button symbols in the game with PlayStation symbols, like I could do in Ground Zeroes?

Well, I can at least comment on the prologue so far. Much of it left me slack-jawed. Some uncompromisingly brutal stuff going on. How I feel about the rest remains to be seen.

I've never played a MG other than Ground Zeroes is it worth it to get this game?

This is asked a lot (and by yourself before) - just get the game, listen to the in-game tapes, and you'll be fine. It's not an RPG. 95% of your game time will be shooting and knocking people out, not watching cut scenes.

Well its not working anyway but yes you will miss a bunch of costumes

just started playing. didn't like awakening chapter one bit and i'm a huge metal gear fan, i dunno felt weird, maybe i need to tinker with camera settings and such. hopefully game picks up for me from now on.

Can I stop enemies being alerted when I fulton someone?

Also, how long does someone sleep for after being tranqualized?
