That's not surprising at all, nor is it bad. We have been playing as the Master Chief for almost 15 years in this series, people are invested in his character, not the others.
Yeah, that was cool. Loved the sound there as well.
You know that would be a cool move for game play instead of the boarding smash or grenade plant. Might not destroy the vehicle or kill the enemy in one go but would give you an opportunity to do fast flowing moves against vehicles.
My post that you quoted has literally nothing to do with some sort of bias toward Master Chief's character. here I'd counter that if your story is entirely dependent on a single character, then that itself is a problem and 343 bringing more characters to expand the story is actually the right move.
Right now we have Elites, Grunts, Jackals and Hunters confirmed but I really do hope there's more.
Gimme Brute Packs:
And Skirmishers:
Maybe a few Drones:
Don't get the Locke dislike. We barely know him.
He was pretty terrible in nightfall. Doesn't mean he's bad, just everything we've seen of him upto now is pretty mediocre.

I also rather play as the Master Chief. Him and Cortana have been the main characters in the series, so I'm most interested in their story and where they are taking it.

T. Longo [5:55]: "We need to answer that question of; Who else out there is a badass? And who else out there is someone you would want to play as?"
J. Holmes [6:01]: "We wanted someone who has a distinct contrast to the Master Chief"

At least they changed his voice. The new voice actor is so much better
I've always been curious, why do some people extremely dislike pre-rendered stuff or stuff that isn't in-game or in-engine? I mean I hear things like it breaks immersion and whatnot, but on the other hand, sometimes you get things like the cinematic in this thread, stuff like the Blur H2A and Halo 4 Spartan Ops cinematics that look amazing and do wonders for building a more visual world.
The Covenant have a ton of diversity that Halo 4 didn't really utilize. Judging by what we've seen from SP and Warzone it seems like Halo 5 won't either, but I'm hopeful we finally see the full suite of enemies. Right now we have Elites, Grunts, Jackals and Hunters confirmed but I really do hope there's more.

And why not bring Engineers back, at least as a passive third party perhaps not associated with any faction:

I was simply comparing two different action set pieces. Not like you'd care, though.
Brutes and Elites don't get along whatsoever ... So with the prophets falling completely out of favor with both species, and the religious zealot Elites assuming leadership roles in the remaining Religious hierarchy, there's really no reason from a lore perspective why Brutes would have been in Halo 4.
Also, the Engineers have done their best to flee the reaches of any parties who would exploit them... The humans managed to align with a few who had never been compromised, and they rescued one. This is why Human tech has quickly surpassed everyone else's... This handful of remaining Engineers are the only ones left, as far as we know... So there's no reason in the lore why they'd be a major faction....
I know this isn't what you meant but the SMG was a beast in the beta. Not only was it really powerful but it was really fun to use.
Don't get the Locke dislike. We barely know him.
Yeah, I like Drones as a concept but not in execution. I think they would work better if they zoomed around a lot less, and traveled in smaller packs.
Personally, those are the one I'd be happy never fighting again, but rather just seeing them occasionally from a fiction standpoint.
But please, pleeeaasse. Bring back Brute Packs and Skirmishers, they were really diverse and a ton of fun to fight.
From a lore perspective, the 'Storm' faction of Covenant really could have been anything though. Brutes could have been integrated, despite their conflict with Elites, their extreme devotion to the Forerunner beliefs could unite them.
Honestly the Storm Covenant seem really convoluted from a fictional standpoint.. they seem pretty damn large, unified and well equipped to me. So there's no reason why a fictional tie to Brutes couldn't be written in to further diversify the gameplay.
Maybe, but many of the Brutes who stuck around with the Elites ended up launching a terrorist attack on Sanghelios... We also learn that the Elites were planning on killing the remaining loyal Brutes before they had a chance to turn...
After all that, I just don't see trust being there at all...

Since 343 drastically redesigned the Jackals with Halo 4 and again in Halo 5:
It would be really REALLY stretching it to make a reason for the Brutes to work with the Covenant Remnant. It probably would be contrived.
They didn't redesign the Jackals. The picture you listed is a Ibie'shan.
Halo Escalation Issue 17: (Also first issue which Tanaka is introduced)

Plus Frankie said the comics aren't canon.
Lol, no he didn't. Halo Escalation is the continuation of Halo 4 Spartan Ops.
Takes place between Halo 4 and Halo 5.
Wait, those comics are canon?
Also, from a narrative point of view, why are the promethians still running around with the covenant?
They're not. Although sometimes their motivations align.
Either way, this is something that shouldn't only be explained by comics.
Yeah, Reach Jackals are best Jackals. Reach had such amazing art.
Ah yeah, I can see how one could misread that. In Bungie's day, comics and such were subcanon. However 343i has said that everything is on the same level of importance.
At the end of it all, I just think Brutes are a lot of fun to fight, and really like having a game that features both Brutes and Elites as enemies. Whatever fictional narrative it takes to make it work would make me happy, and IMO there are quite a few options.
space chickens > space lizards
Hey, I'm all for more enemies, but it's gotta make sense... halo4 just wouldn't have been a good fit for the Brutes...
Maybe we can take a trip to Venezia, the safe haven for members of all species who hate their respective governments. Maybe we could get some Spartan v. Brute + Jackal + Grunt + Elite + Human action... Would make for some awesomely unpredictable battles...
Stinkles, are you getting this?
Don't get the Locke dislike. We barely know him.
As someone who only played the games and read some of the novels, this isn't clear. At all. Seeing as classic Jackals aren't appearing, and they call the new ones Jackals anyways it feels more like a redesign.
Plus Frankie said the comics aren't canon.
But again, that further strengthens my hope to see the older design reappear.
