I love transitioning into Big Boss, not having to worry about not killing all of these poor fools. That dumb rule about stealth/no kills works great for gamification, but in the real world a phantom might just have to leave your dead body in the bathroom stall out of convenience. That morality might not be good for Snake, but it's perfect for the antagonist of the first Metal Gear!

I like you.

Finally said fuck stealth and have been going rambo. Game is wayy less stressful and funner now.

Can't remember the mission number, but the first mission where I killed anybody was the one with
the child soldiers
.

Not sure why really. Just pissed me off and seemed narratively like a good point for Big Boss to set off down the path of generally losing his shit.

Speaking of which, I've just done Episode
43
, which in a lot of ways is my favourite part of the game. Absolutely loved the horror vibe in this one (RIP Silent Hills) and the cutscenes were hair raising. Fucking brilliant moments.

So I just realized that using up and down dpad on the idroid map screen lets you quickly Fulton in supplies, remove all markers, issue orders to quiet, the heli etc. amazing!!!!!

So I've been getting some mother base updates about my guys getting injured or sent to the brig? How do I handle that shit. I know that there is some kinda mechanic with "troublemakers", but it's super confusing to me.

Overall, the whole Mother Base meta-game should be a lot simpler then it is.

Question about Quiet
Is there ANY way to get her back after the ending? I would like to use her on a bunch of the early missions on a second or 3rd attempt but my understanding is she leaves after a certain point. So is she gone for good or is this a full blown FFVII Aeris situation of once she's gone she's gone and there is no getting her back?

There can be some guards that have the Troublemaker skill, if you put 2 of the same skill in the same unit they'll cancel each other out.

Mother Base:

Just saw a really weird scene on the
Medical
Platform.

It featured
Paz, or some weird hallucination of her. Involved Boss fantasising they pulled both bombs out of her (...), she jumps and survives. Has amnesia and ends up napping and making utterances about her true self and her stomach.

Very weird.

May not be true as it gets called into question later but maybe

Oh my god Commando. I'm going to watch this now.

So far this is my least favorite story related development in the game. Absolutely unneccesary retcon.

kojima clearly has a loli fascination with paz.

Hmm. So looking at the full objectives list for mission 20
there is one for hitting ginger mantis with an attack somehow, but not for fultoning the man on fire. If you can hit him can you stop him destroying your balloon? Doubt it'd all work really...

The more I play this game, the more I realize that Kojima finally nailed the gameplay, but in the process of doing so made a game that feels nothing like Metal Gear a lot of the time.

This game lacks personality, most noticeable in the story.

Just completed the Honey-bee mission. Wow... That was such a great misson.

This game.... It's incredible. My GOTY by far and i'm only 5% in it seems. Lol...
This game is mostly pure gameplay and the freedom to tackle it as you please.
The amount of options and detail.... I'm constantly in awe.

Listening to the tapes is great too.

So is there any consensus on what lasts the longest?

Sleep darts
Choke out
Knock out
Cqc
Bionic arm punch

Not sure about the bionic arm punch, but I just read in one of the info screens that plays between gameplay/helicopter scenes that the 5-punch CQC combo is definitely longer than a tranq dart. I think choke out might be equal to a tranq knockout.

I have to admit that the story so far (I'm around Mission 14) is honestly just a narrative mess. There are all these weird separate threads, none of them seem to have much of a "hook," and nothing is ever followed up on. The classic style cutscenes are few and far between and when they do appear, most of the time the content just leaves me saying "that's it...?"

Even if all this disparate elements of the story do manage to come together in some crazy, genius conclusion, it woudn't excuse the pacing up until this point.

So how does everyone handle side missions? I'd like to take on multiple ones at a time but they are usually far away from each other, so I just end up taking the helicopter. Sometimes the missions are really short so it feels like I only wasted money to do the mission.

Also, what does it mean when I've completed a side mission, but instead of it being darkened out like the others, I can select it again...even though the boxed check mark is still there?

My only gripe, but it's a big one. I feel like I missed out on a Metal Gear Solid game.

MGSV is a fantastic game, but it's a fantastic game wearing just the skin of MGS. It feels so different in a lot of fundamental ways.

Finish the wandering soldiers side missions and they'll give you something that you can give to her, you'll understand.

The way i see it, there is no such thing as side missions. Best to play it all.
suppressor durability, anyone know how to improve it?

Although i seem to do fine shooting shit up, i'd like to know too. It will make missions a bit smoother.
But i'm having fun anyway.

Jesus.. This game. Woaw.

So uh, other than to WASTE MY FUCKING TIME, what's the point of the FOB Missions menu listing players who are already being infiltrated, thus preventing me from infiltrating?

Is it too hard to have a filter in place that hides blockaded and mid-infiltration FOBs from being listed?

So I was running towards a side op and came across Da Ghwandai Khar and decided to perch myself across from it on a little hill and go hunting. Lasted a solid 25 minutes with mortar fire everywhere, bullets flying, and me running around the hill and picking them off one by one (except the bae with the nice stats, tranq'd that motherfucker from like 60 yards) all while listening to the tightest 80s jams. This game has so many amazing moments.

I'm almost 20 hours in and I'm getting that "great game, bad sequel" vibe, though there's still a lot left to go. The closest analog that springs to mind is Chrono Cross: A fantastic RPG that fell way short as a sequel to Chrono Trigger in a lot of ways.

Man. I am having a hell of a time trying to find a certain prisoner (
Quiet
) on Motherbase! This is after Episode 17.

It picks up in chapter 2

I just do it and once complete, it saves so quit back to the ACC. You can do some side missions multiple times if you like, so they become reselectable.

A lot of people own the game. They could have been free when it was listed but someone beat you to it.
