Holy fuck, I know this is a just a pet peeve of mine, but is there any way to turn off the credits before each mission?

I spoiled myself on the main scenario ages ago, but I'm still trying to run in blind for the missions themselves. And it annoys the fuck out of me when I'm doing a mission and then all of a sudden I see "FEATURING SKULL FACE AND METAL GEAR ST-84."

Are you fucking serious Kojima?

I just look away at the beginning of missions now. It's silly that I even have to do that!

Really not sure about the thought process here...

Does anyone know if there is a difference between the CE of the guide and the hardcover guide? Or is the CE guide simply the guide in hardcover format?

I sometimes see sites list the hardcover guide twice, but with different prices, as if they're different somehow.

Couple of questions I wouldn't mind an answer to:

1. Can you visit the
child soldiers
on Mother Base? Kaz said they were creating a separate space for them, but I can't see it and don't fancy running around the needlessly massive Mother Base looking for it.

2. I'm at about Mission 23 and the shooting gallery missions on Mother Base have started glowing yellow again, like they're new missions (I've already completed them). Is this just a glitch or am I missing something?

3. Does your FOB only increase stats for that FOB, or for the main Mother Base as well? Say if I maxed out the R&D structures on my FOB, would it allow me to assign more staff to R&D on Mother Base?

Any answers appreciated.

It really feels like this is the RE4 of MGS: a phenomenal game which completely revolutionises the series, but which is villified by a portion of the fanbase with rigid views of what the series should be.

You do realize the complaints are mostly because of the plot, its pacing and how it's executed? Cause that's not about having rigid views, it's purely a matter of opinion. TPP handles it's story very, very differently from every other MGS game. Some people like long and frequent cut scenes with exposition and whatever, some people like the low-key, more subtle approach TPP has.

I feel like you're just dismissing everyone who feel TPP isn't a very good MGS game.

What!? You have to sell the gems? I didn't know that!
The highest end battle dress and something else do for sure. The battle dress needs 2000.

Doesn't work when you want to S rank an extreme mission...or if you want to do a mission with no alerts and detection.
Does a leveled up rocket punch not work on them? I know that rank 1 doesn't, but I'd think 2 does unless there stamina like doubles in harder difficulties.

It's strange. The trailers for this game (the ones by Kojima at least) were almost 90% focused on narrative only. Made up of cut scenes, not gameplay.

I think I might have set myself up for disappointment by hyping myself up for typical Metal Gear cut scene rich narrative, but I can't help but feel a little frustrated every time the story starts to ramp up before being put aside for a few more hours.

Don't get me wrong. I'm really enjoying the game. I'm up to Episode 25. I love the gameplay. The different ways you can do so many things in this game is brilliant. The controls are excellent. It looks fantastic. I like that the cassette tapes allow you to consume or ignore the exposition at your own pace and let you play more. I want to play it all the time.

I just was expecting... I don't know. To be moved by the game more than I have been so far?

I think we all remember the effect the previous MGS games had on us the first time we played them. You have experiences and sensations when playing through any of the games for the first time that you never get back. This story has been entertaining and interesting, but it hasn't had the same effect on me as I thought it might do. Especially as the final 'missing piece' of the saga and because of how much I was expecting from the unusually darker tone introduced in Ground Zeroes, which I thought was a really good and intriguing game, narrative wise.

This game is still a fantastic example of video gaming and despite some of the very minor faults and slightly bizarre design choices, I still think this is yet another triumph for the Kojima Productions crew (RIP).

Maybe my opinion will change after I reach the conclusion. After all, the endings of MGS games are always the best parts.

I think I just expected too much.

Spoiler free yes/no answer please as my playing MGS V depends on it...

Does MGS V retcon the series or at least the bullshit ending of IV?

I'm pleased with how it all looks now.
How do you get the bandana?

Stupid question but I assume I'm not supposed to fulton all the material containers at MB?

Also I don't even bother trying to go online mode. It seems to disconnect all the time.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Wow, silent snake is really killing this game for me. Episode 11 spoilers:
BB does not say a single word during the encounter with Quiet and the jet. It's insane!
This would easily be a GOTY contender if he would speak as frequent as BB/Snake in previous games.

Don't get this. Snake didn't say much more than 'huh?' In mgs3 and 4 for a large portion of those games. So many of the cut scenes he's nearly a silent protag while someone info dumps conspiracy shit while he just stands there mute. If you listen to the tapes snake talks more than pretty much ever other metal gear besides peace walker, maybe more than that even. All snakes dialogue is usually in the codecs, not the cut scenes. In this game it's the tapes. Listen to the damn tapes.

It doesn't work because you'll get detected when you run, also it's situation in that enemies might be on top of a building or somewhere else and if I can get close to them then why wouldn't I just put them on a chokehold ?

Question In regards to the Quiet emblem situation.
Can you change the emblem after the fact and still retain Quiet or do you have to keep the emblem the same in order to keep Quiet

'not a good msg game' sounds exactly like the criticism against RE4.
The story is fine, it's not as offensive as Peace Walker, but it feels dull so far. I was expecting something minch darker with it's 'going to hell' theme. But so far it's just a really pissed off Kaz.

Side op spoilers:
How in the hell are you supposed to extract the wandering member from Mother Base??? He is invulnerable to everything.

I managed to CQC one by myself, but if you have DD you can send him to grab them and catch them easily.

Okay, cool, I don't really give a fuck about RE so I don't know how people reacted to it when it came out

When I say it's a bad MGS game, it should be obvious that I mean "this is not what I look for in a MGS game". It's not criticism against this game.

You remember wrong, although there were a lot of parrot exposition there were a lot of dialogues too...a lot compared to what's here. It's not like he speaks a lot on tapes.

The fact that Snake gets spoken to all the time and the dude doesn't even twitch is what is bothersome. Humans don't talk like that because it's disrespectful, even the ingame characters don't talk like that to each other.

Got a lot of time in today, finished HoneyBee. Looooong mission.

Anyone know how to upgrade your chopper? I developed the first upgrade that says it gets me to/from the mission area quicker but it won't let me "equip" it.

Also, is it just me or do enemy soldiers radio in alerts instantaneously? If I can't disable during reflex then the whole base is on alert. Back in MGS 2 at least they actually had to radio it in (and you could shoot the radios to disable). Maybe it would be different if I disabled reflex.

If you do, you lose her as a buddy. You either have to keep her under 100% or equip the Butterfly Emblem to avoid her leaving mission. You really want to do that as your very last thing for gameplay reasons. So yeah equip that Emblem and just wait to do that story mission. Or YouTube it. I regret doing it.

So if I don't max out my bond with her than this doesn't happen?

DD busy command or cardboard box to get close.
Tranq to head puts them to sleep, CQC strike works too but not as well.

Man, Big Boss should just
toss Eli into the ocean.
And
Huey
And the
Sahelanthropus
And pretty much everything else that the game keeps around for no reason other than the story needed them to be there

psa don't click those tags if you haven't finished it or are near the end

Does the DD 'Busy' command just distract people or what? I haven't used it because I don't kill anyone and I'm afraid DD will slaughter someone.

Same here. Would also like to know
