Took me a couple of hours to do the fucking "listen to conversations" side task in Mission 16. Fucking rain meant the guy talking would run off or I'd listen in and nothing would be said so I'd have to constantly restart the mission in order to listen to the three different conversations. The worst was when the driver ran over a guy, stopped to talk to the other guy and then CP called in an alert because they blamed the guy ran over on me. When on alert, conversations stop happening.

So many annoying little shitty things that stop events from occurring. :lol

Got a lot of time in today, finished HoneyBee. Looooong mission.

Anyone know how to upgrade your chopper? I developed the first upgrade that says it gets me to/from the mission area quicker but it won't let me "equip" it.

Also, is it just me or do enemy soldiers radio in alerts instantaneously? If I can't disable during reflex then the whole base is on alert. Back in MGS 2 at least they actually had to radio it in (and you could shoot the radios to disable). Maybe it would be different if I disabled reflex.

For the chopper go to the customize menu from the ACC.

Urgh. I just was forced to do mission 15, because I have no side-ops left to do and then it just gives me only access to another main mission. Where are my sidemissions? :(

Does the DD 'Busy' command just distract people or what? I haven't used it because I don't kill anyone and I'm afraid DD will slaughter someone.

Barking distracts, busy will latch onto them and hold them for a few seconds. Having DD kill/stun people is an upgrade.

It really feels like this is the RE4 of MGS: a phenomenal game which completely revolutionises the series, but which is villified by a portion of the fanbase with rigid views of what the series should be.
It's more like MSGV just isn't a very good open world game at all. The core mechanics are phenomenal but the dull world and repetitive missions ensure that I'm only able to play this an hour at a time without getting bored. I would have honestly preferred it if it was a just a series of bases you had to infiltrate rather than a full fledged open world.

Damn Stefanie Joosten is way better than I'll ever be at this game.
I did sneak past the skulls, but the rescue was full fucking Rambo mode for me.

The Afghan terrain is really annoying in some parts, they really needed to give Big Boss some rock climbing gear so you don't have to go all the way around some places ¬.¬

You remember wrong, although there were a lot of parrot exposition there were a lot of dialogues too...a lot compared to what's here. It's not like he speaks a lot on tapes.

The fact that Snake gets spoken to all the time and the dude doesn't even twitch is what is bothersome. Humans don't talk like that because it's disrespectful, even the ingame characters don't talk like that to each other.
He speaks more on those tapes than he does in any other single metal gear besides peace walker. I literally just played every game in the series. Go play mgs3, he grunts and groans in damn near every cut scene without saying anything. It's the codecs where he talks. Same with 4. There are hours of cut scenes where someone talks and he just stands there looking dumb. I specifically remember being disappointed with 4 because Kojima or hayter said 'snake will be more opinionated and have lots to say in this game' and he absolutely didn't. Granted, boss talks a lot in peace walker. A lot. So if you were expecting that then I agree, it's been toned down. Regardless, I encourage you to watch cut scenes, not codec calls from all the mgs games and tell me how much snake talks, cause other than parroting other people or grunting he doesn't talk much at all outside of the codecs. Again, listen to the tapes. He talks plenty on those. If not you're just being wilfully ignorant and looking for things to complain about.

Man... (character and plot spoiler)
Screw Huey. Blaming snake for his coma.

Also (DO NOT CLICK THE SPOILER BELOW IF YOU HAVEN'T DONE UP TO MISSION 12), whenever shit is escalating.

Someone should edit Batman to Big Boss with Skulls/Salenthropus on the background

Do we have a place where it tells us if the ground zeroes servers are working? Been trying since yesterday on xbox one and it constantly tells me the server is down :(((((

No way did she just do that.

The first mission in Afghanistan:
She snuck past the Skulls.

I just did the very same thing, it wasn't difficult at all.
Lured them away with the horse, then snuck around them.

Question about Kaz, did he lose his limbs nine years ago, or in Afghanistan?

Anyone have problems with the game freezing? 30 hours in and it just hard froze twice on me. First I was able to revert to a checkpoint, the second time it hardlocked my PS4 and I had to pull the power. I'm 30 hours in and it had been fine up until now.

Side op spoilers:
How in the hell are you supposed to extract the wandering member from Mother Base??? He is invulnerable to everything.

Here's a way to make these missions no challenge at all (it really breaks them so reveal at own risk)

When you listen to Love Deterrence via iDroid speakers the soldiers will just come to you.

Big Boss can climb up cracks in the walls.

Yeah at like two places in the whole map. I don't know why they even bothered to put in such beautifully animated climbing if there's barely anywhere to do it. It would also make traversal much more interesting and fun, too.

Does buddy bond level decrease if you don't use them for some time? I maxed out DDog, Quiet and DHorse, but I want to go solo for a few missions now.

so i can finally use quiet seems like it took forever soo of course my first side op i shoot her by mistake? it said my rep with her went down... so how do i increase it just my doing missions??

I hate this game, I have been on episode 12 for hours and every time I die it is another 500 yards back from where I need to be.

This game is not fun for me.

OK, don't take this personal guys, but I do not like the image in the original post and decided to make my own version of something similar using TPPs original art assets.

Here are two versions I made, choose the one you like the most and put it into original post (or not, your choice).

P.S. Before anyone asked about this - nope, I can't share original artworks.

Holy crap mission
10
is a pain in the ass. There seems like there is no way to do it stealthiy, just too many enemies.

Also, mission
7 & 8 have missile as recommended weapon, but I can't produce a missile until R&D level 23 and a bunch of other stuff. Is there another way to get a missile this early?

You can also
Just sit in a box and walk up to them, they will come close and you grab them

Got a lot of time in today, finished HoneyBee. Looooong mission.

I just did that one yesterday, took me a good hour because I had no idea where the hell I was supposed to go
in the caves -- was walking around in circles, triggering alerts left and right, for forever! I had also no idea that you were supposed to get the Honey Bee's location from the Hamid prisoner on the bridge, which probably would've sped things up :lol

If your base is full and you fulton some soldiers will they be accepted (going in the waiting room) or will they disappear?

I think that there are more of them than initially clear because I was riding around an area in Afghanistan that I had been to before, but this time, when I looked on the map, there were climbing crack indicators that I don't remember being there the first time. Maybe they only show up if you intel team is at a certain level, or an upgraded buddy noticed them? I can't remember if I had Quiet or DD with me.

The second chopper upgrade doesn't seem to make deployment any faster. Or at least the difference isn't very noticeable.

The hardest mission I've played so far in terms of stealth is the Honey Bee one. Anyone who perfect stealths that is a beast.

I did that very thing last night! Took me 3 hours but I got an S rank for my trouble. (My score screen)

No. You get Kojima and a few volunteers with camos and a Golden Arm. That's it.
You can also unlock some other suit(s) by doing certain things in GZ. This is one of them.

Side op spoilers:
How in the hell are you supposed to extract the wandering member from Mother Base??? He is invulnerable to everything.
I used
my stun assault rifle, took a lot hits for him to go down.

Which original artwork?

If your base is full and you fulton some soldiers will they be accepted (going in the waiting room) or will they disappear?

It seems to automatically dismiss other people you've already got in the base, the ones ranked the lowest I assume

Post mission 31 question:
what's the point of nukes?

Kaz is as awesome as ever, glad to see. So is Fultoning.

I hope it still has the 'base is full, hey, man overboard!!' messages from PW.

I like it, but maybe the V could be on the back cover? The back seems more like front material.

I've gone tapes after tapes with no comments from him, he speaks but not as much as you are making it out to be.

I have played every game multiple times and I am about to finish this game completely, I think I am at a decent position to comment and I don't need to play them again. And the complaint stands, Snake doesn't even flinch when he gets spoken to directly, let alone speak something.

To say that he grunts and groans and doesn't speak much and use that as an argument is just not gonna work when the complaint is about how dead Snake is as a character in cutscenes in this game. It doesn't matter if he barely spoke and majority of it was grunt, the complaint is that it's not here and hence it sounds off. Just because a character speaks less doesn't mean he would be better off as a silent guy, especially for what is suppose to be an established character with a personality. Then there is the dissonance between how he reacts in tapes and how he reacts in cutscenes.

Chapter 1 end spoiler
Take this for example, snake is sitting in front of skull face who then goes on for many minutes where the dude explains his entire plan and Snake just sits there doing fuck all like he isn't even there. Then there is no conversation between the two for a while and they just sit and stare at each other while Sins of the father plays in the background....such an awkward scene. This would not exist in previous games because that snake even with all those grunts would question and argue rather than sitting there without saying anything where something needs to be said.

That's the problem, this guy doesn't say or do anything even when there is a need. Talking, responding or doing about something relating to the current situation in a scene gives a character a sense that they belong in that scene and are important to it, this is something snake would do in older games apart from questioning the plans, the parrot exposition and the grunts. Yet people only remember the parrot expositions and the grunts !

I nailed it first try. It was amazing. Unless you're counting the fight at the end, I fought them instead of stealthed (if you can stealth it). Sneaking into the base though? Soooo good.
