So I've just finished Mission named (I keep forgetting the numbers)
Sahelanthropus.
Is kid Mantis ever going to be acknowledged in any way by anyone? I mean, I've seen him give Eli the vial, so there's obviously some post-credits shiz to go down, but wee Mantis (along with Man on Fire) seem to be brushed off constantly by everyone and completely ignored. Is he even wee Mantis? Why is nobody talking about this kid!?

There are plenty of tapes that discuss the subject.

Edit: best to separate those spoilers into two.

It'll get clarified after mission 31, I thought same as you.

I'M THIS FUCKING CLOSE TO GIVING UP.

The checkpoints. The constant banal travel. The fact I can't take more than 2 hits if I try to stealth a mission and it goes loud. Filler quests everywhere. The ridiculous grind to get equipment that you need for a stealthy build. Bullshit cheesetastic enemies. Skulls, tanks, choppers.

It's just too much. Too unfocused. Constant restarts.

Go a different route with your stealth. You can always replay the same missions later on(with later game weaponry) for better rankings. For now I'd suggest using a sniper rifle build and play cat and mouse with the soldiers. It is really satisfying picking them off from miles away one by one as they try to find you while you're perched up in high areas. You end up clearing out 4/5 or all of an area and don't have to worry about the hassle of grenades and bullets hitting you from everywhre.

Wait.

Do you not tag enemies or something?

Of course I do. But even then there's always something that pops up and fucks you over. You almost cannot play this game hard stealth.

That's how I play Far Cry games. It just feels wrong in a Metal Gear game.

Gaffers who are farther along, is it appropriate for a 13 yr old? What kind of material does it explore later on?

I'd say a maybe leaning to No, depending on the teen's tolerance level. Plenty of gruesome of violence and torture comes up, but again, a very few number of early teens can handle that.

EDIT: Oh fuck it, it's an outright No.

I love the physics in this game.

Dat GROM.

Words really can't describe how fucking sleazy Quiet's overall character design comes across as. At least EVA seemed like a pastiche of the archetypal James Bond femme fatales. Just about every scene involving Quiet just comes across as cringeworthy when everything's all serious, and there she is with her pantyhose and the camera focusing on her ass because clothes suffocate her apparently (if that's the case, why doesn't she go fully naked?).

Incorrect. Actually, I think this stealth is extremely easy. Crawling is so OP.

I think I'm in love with Troy Baker's Ocelot.

I guess pretty much the entire reason Kojima decided to go with Snake having a shrapnel in his head is so that this scene can happen from the start of the E3 2015 trailer.

Also late game spoiler about Huey

Lool how is he kneeling down during the trial? His lower body doesn't function without the exo :P

if I play this as a straight first person shooter and ignore the stealth elements am I playing the wrong way?...the stealth is excellent but can also get frustrating while going in guns blazing is pretty easy

I have no idea what you've been doing, but I've been hard stealthing this game the majority of the time and it's been relatively a breeze.

.

Sorry man but this game has REALLY easy stealth. From the camo for different surfaces,to the sneaking suit, to crawling (and "stealth mode" while crawl) and just throwing magazines everywhere, you can literally do whatever you want.

God, how can it take so long for the darn dog to grow up?!

On another note, this game is like crack! Only gripe is how you never can scale those cliffs when you want to.

You can play it any way that works for you. Of course the game is rewarding you more when you play stealthy and without kills, but it doesn't hinder you to be a psychotic murderer. If that work for you that work for you.

I only just got him. And even he needs grinding to unlock his ability to stun enemies rather than kill them. Why? What's the point. Why am I being punished for playing stealthily. It's Metal Gear FFS.

Or is it Metal Gear?
You're not punished for playing stealthy, you're being punished for not being prepared. If something goes wrong, you did something wrong. I called DD because he auto tags enemies. So you won't be surprised by one if you're aware of your surroundings.

If you're completing missions, then you're not doing it wrong. The game is designed to be played so many different ways, and how you do so will be reflected in the game in some ways. I'd advise to keep doing what you're doing, and change tactics if you think it will help or it intrigues you.

I imagine a common tactic is to stealth as far as you can, then go all out when you get noticed and try to run away to a hiding position and try again.

If anything this game is too easy, fulton is so op

Correct, first time around it's hard. Then you figure out there there are really only one or two ways of doing it because anything else just makes things unnecessarily difficult while doing those one or two things means you can finish a mission without breaking a sweat.

Dispatch mission: Plant resources

Difficulty: E

I send nine B-C staff and one A++ guy just to be extra safe. Several minutes later, mission successful. Rewards screen, one death; Silent Mastodon. The A++ guy. RIP :(

First of all, I apologized if there is any mistake, my english isn't perfect.

Just finished the prologue and first chapter. Everything was top tier, but I would've loved it WAAAY more if I hadn't seen all of the trailers.

Gameplay is amazing, it's ground zeroes but better. I honestly think this could become one of the best game I've played (gameplay wise).

Personally, I think that big boss talks less because of those 9 years in coma, you are a new man, you are not the person you used to be, you are being born again (If you played the prologue you shoulod know where this is coming from). Big Boss literally asks miller to tell him what to do next like he used to. The main topic of the game seems to be the loss of the tongue/language. Maybe the decision to not use David Hayter has something to do with this, maybe it was needed to show this change in Big Boss persona.

Please, if anyone answer to this, remember I've just finished the first chapter, so no spoilers from anything beyond that please.

Is there any way to make new staff go to the waiting room until I assign them instead of being automatically assigned by Miller?

This isn't like other Metal Gear games in terms of how the stealth is handled, so you have to treat it differently or it will end in frustration and confusion. Yes, crawling helps a ton but if you try to play this like MGS 1,2,3, or 4, you can't. Running is an instant notification for enemies sometimes, whereas in older games it was not until you reached a certain proximity from the enemy.

They have super hearing and sight in the game sometimes depending on what you wear and do sans crawling(unless you have the sneaking suit which greatly decreases how they detect you for some reason). Also I suggest going out at night. I know that daytime looks good graphically but it is extremely hard to stealth when there are barely any shadows. The sun is basically a giant flashlight in the sky and the enemies do not have night vision goggles.

Please, if anyone answer to this, remember I've just finished the first chapter, so no spoilers from anything beyond that please.

I won't spoil anything for you, but I'll just say give the game more time and listen to the tapes.
