Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen Comes to PC This January

Can't wait-

Of course not its not dragons dogma 2, it's dogma online.

That's like saying eso is the next big sequel to skyrim. And the F2P parts are fine, maybe it's your apparent hatred towards f2p games over reacting.

I'm pretty sure I play quite a bit of f2p games, thanks for assuming. I was excited for DDO when it was announced, being someone who will take more DD in any form. Slightly less so now that I've played to level 20. I say slightly because I have blind love for the series and will play it nonetheless.

The nights aren't as dark aside (wtf capcom), boss fights take forever to clear solo, not because my weapons are shit but because there's this shitty rage mode that reduces damage taken to minimum. It takes forever to get rid of rage mode via stamina drain when soloing, so even when you take on a level 12 cyclops at level 17, it still takes quite a while to do it. The bulk of your time is spent hanging on to the cyclops to do "tugs", not shooting arrows. It's a lot less satisfying to fight giant enemies in DDO. I dread it instead of anticipate it like I did in DD.

They claim that you can play DDO solo but it isn't true. Not if you want to enjoy it. It's not something they can't fix by patches/balancing, but there is something missing from DDO's giant enemies still. I can't quite put my finger on it. Is it the body part farming? Hmm.

Everything is a very slow grind, with everything (quick travel and pawn rental, anyone) costing some sort of currency. This being a f2p game, nothing comes by that easily. There's even an equipment gacha if that's your thing. Silver tickets for gacha come with daily logins and the occasional events.

I expressed hate for f2p only because I've played it and think the f2p elements only detracts from it. Greatly.

I was never really into this game, but i know tons of people were clamoring for it to be unshackled from last gen, so i consider this a great development. Now if the port is good is the next issue.

I wonder why it was console only to begin with? This is the type of game you'd expect to be console/PC from the very start anyways.

What do you think I've been doing in that thread. It's ok but it's no DD2.

The f2p influences from mobile games kinda show.

I've been hearing stories about the progress wall in online, so maybe there is some truth in what you're saying. Who knows.

Don't know how hard sales might be affected if everyone knows it will be easy to hack leaderboards and pawns. Which will dissuade anyone from participating in ur-hunting and second-guessing if their hired pawns are worthy of earning experience since they might be hacked. I wonder how they'll handle the online portion. RE.net goes to crap immediately with cheaters (at least on PC).

i've already done 5 playtrough of this game and 3 of the dark arisen part ..
i 've seen everything ...

but i guess i can see it again with more beautifull graphics and i wouldn't mind

I still can't believe it. So happy.

Oh and Capcom, i'm already really happy as it is, but if you can spare a single developer who implements the ability to use more than one character slot/profiles (at least on PC i will probably be able to do this with save switching....but an official option would be great)

aaaaaand a little tweak with the new Game+, so that it at least gets more difficult instead of being the same as before.

Than i would be even happier.

Nice hopefully they bother with console versions or DD online. Glad to see the IP isn't dead in the west. Maybe an official DD2 is in the works now and hopefully we can play together instead of just borrowing pawns lol.

Great game indeed, who's still complaining about remasters?

YES! I've always been intrigued by Dragon's Dogma, but the sub-par frame-rate on PS3 has always felt very off-putting. Day one!!

Now if only Demon's Souls would get a (remastered) port to the PS4, that way I could finally sell my PS3.

day fucking one. i quit in that huge falling dungeon (i was a sage knight? or something, i can't remember the exact name but it was superrr flashy/fun and had amazing skills) because the fights on console would literally get down to 4-5 FPS. soo stoked for this!

True they could make soloing easier, but many of this can be solved by just playing with people. Or what's the point of playing an MMO.

Of course it gets announced just when i have already started the PS3 version, like always.

Now i don't know what to do.

Then stop claiming that it can be done solo to reassure old players because it's not true. I've given you some of the other reasons, but there are definitely more that I won't be listing here since this is the DD PC announcement thread and not the DDO thread. Head over to the DDO thread and you'll see a level 30 gaffer urging people to quit. Level/relative strength/story progression was not well done at all.

Nighttime not being DD nighttime and the rage mode sucks from what I see.

I don't see what's the point of the rage mode. It seems so unnecesary just to drag on an already long fight.

And about the nerfed nights... it was a major point in the first half of the original game IMO.

Will double dip eventually. The performance never bothered me but after it corrupted my save part way through I never gained the will or confidence to risk it happening again. especially since the first 5 hours were my least favorite. Steam cloud support should at least make that a none issue.

Day freaking 1. YES! Now they just need someone to mod in the original opening theme from Dragon's Dogma. I need to be pushed by the wind with this announcement. Good show Capcom.

When did I claim it could be done solo? Show me. I basically called you out cause you started generalizing by saying f2p sucks just cause DDO rubs you the wrong way.
I'm not going to continue to derail this thread so do as you please.

I'm saying Capcom did. Sorry I wasn't clear. Seriously, go to the DDO thread if you so please. I've been there for almost a week.

If you don't think some of the problems were borne from f2p, I dunno what to say.

Great news, the game is wonderful. But it needs SERIOUS DIFFICULTY REBALANCING.

If they nerf the bandits a little bit at the start and make the late game a bit harder it'll be perfect.
Post game had a good difficulty, bitterblack isle had an excellent difficulty curve. It's just the bandits at the start being too high lvl and the lategame being a bit too easy.

You could always play on hard where the game is insanely unforgiving throughout (and wayyyyyy harder than dark souls in bitterblack isle)

Great news! I've always been interested in the game but the performance issues were kind of putting me off. This is exactly what the game needed I think.

Mother

fucking

yes

I think I've already bought the game like.. 4 times? Both versions on both PS3 and X360

So this'd mean that after this I've bought a single game 5 times. Definitely a new record for me and one I'll most likely never break. Day zero, no fucking doubt about that.
