Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX |OT| .feat PuyoPuyo

Am I the only one having trouble re-calibrating my brain to the 3DS' button scheme when playing in button mode? The Playstation controller button positioning is soo ingrained within my muscle memory that, when I see the X note show up on the chart, my thumb instantly goes to the very bottom button on the 3DS. I fear that I may be stuck playing the game via tap mode at this point.

So my shipping info has updated to my game being delivered tomorrow! Yay!
Went to Best Buy and didn't see a single copy of the game. So I picked up an eshop card since they're 10% off and I'm going to download the game when I get home.
Can't wait to start playing! Easily my most anticipated game all year!

UUGGGHHHH, I'm just about to leave to go into town to pick my copy up, but then it starts pouring outside, & I'd rather not drive in solid rain barely able to see.

Hopefully it clears in the next hour.
It's really pouring where I'm at too! But I need to get out of the house, I gots cabin fevaaa.

...I could see this being a real problem for me. that, or the button colors.

nope this was a huge problem for me in the demo, and was a huge problem in Resident Evil The Mercenaries, though its the xbox face button set up. Not a big deal though as I found out I think tap mode is just way more fun, like a cute little drum game.

I thought they have option to change button layout?

I'm having some trouble adjusting to the buttons coming from the Diva games. I keep hitting B instead of X... so frustrating. haha
I guess I should try the touch mode.

Guess I'm not the only one after all. Lol. Aside from that, I will say that this game is just as fun as the the flagships Diva series of titles and I'm really glad to finally have it without having to import a Japanese 3DS. And the the track list is so damn good. This is the main reason I've always wanted Project Mirai 1 and 2 when they were originally released. Come on Nintendo, there is nothing wrong with being region free.

I'll definitely be going back to button mode shortly just because I can't back down from the challenged of conquering my issue of adjusting to the 3DS' unit button mapping.

Much like playing Final Fantasy: Theater Rhythm. I can definitely agree with you there about it being more fun. I already have perfects on hard difficulty using Tap mode.

I find touch mode is more like "fun mode", and button is more of the "challenge mode". I am loving the touch stuff, though.

Eh, I'm fine with that. Most of the time I only bought outfits I liked the look of rather than buying song-specific outfits, so having them available from the start is alright with me.
Eh, this takes away part of the fun for me. One of the best parts of PD is the ability to make any Vocaloid sing any song in whatever costume I want; hence why I let Meiko sing almost everything in PDf after Platinuming it. Now, that's been taken away. Feels bad, man. :(

You still can change into any costume after you buy it.
Unless you mean Miku wearing something designed for Rin then you cannot do that. Each Vocaloid has a specific set of costumes attached to them.

Phew, endured the rain & got my copy. After GS credit & gift coupons, I only had to pay about $5 out of pocket. Not sure if I'll get a chance to try it later today (need to get a nap in before work), but should be able to try it tomorrow.

Actually, you can have characters wear outfits from other characters. The head can't change, but the body can. So you could have Miku wear Rin's Melancholic outfit for example.

Or have every character dress up as MEIKO for every song. Totally possible.

EDIT: The boys can't dress up as MEIKO. The girls can though.

I realize that, but if the costume doesn't change in whatever song you're playing, I don't see the point. Like, I bought a costume for Miku, put it on Miku, and tried to play Finder with it on. Nope. Default Miku for the song.

Are you sure? Even in the demo I can have Miku wearing Senbonzakura while playing LOL. You can even change vocal too which is something that PDf should learn from Mirai.

Press R when you have the song selected to bring up the character options. You can set outfits on a per song basis.

I bought the Crystal outfit for her. Because it was shiny and pretty. But the outfit in the game video for Kyoudai Shoujo stays the same. :T

Ninja'd. Thank you, Null, never saw that.

Waiting for my Amazon copy to arrive in Venezuela, should be about a week. Does anyone know if Snow 2013 and Append are available costumes¿ I have those nendoroids in my room. They're my fav Mikus.

Looking at Nintendo's page and they say it's supposed to be down until 01:00 on Wednesday morning. Damn I really feel bad for SEGA, wonder if they knew this was gonn be a thing :/

Got my copy but forgot to charge my 3DS last night so it's at less than half charge. I can't play for too long right now I guess. :(

Also supposed to be still working. lol

Since the site I write for is banned on Gaf (No the writing staff has nothing to do with the numbers side, we just got reabsorbed into the main site) I'll just post the closing statements and the pros/cons list (since we got rid of scores) for my review of the game.

Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX does a great job of reimagining the franchise to suit a less masochistic rhythm fan base. While the game lacks the difficulty that some fans have to come to know and love, it largely makes up for this with a generous tracklist and heavy customization elements. On the whole, Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX is an enjoyable experience that manages to scratch an itch that, for me at least, has been left unscratched on the 3DS since the release of Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call.

Pros
Great song variety
Plenty of customization
Simple and fun gameplay
Puyo Puyo mini-game included

Cons
Lack of challenge
Some visually boring stages
No online for dance routines

Unless your a masochistic type gamer when it comes to the genre, Project Mirai DX should be a great time for most fans of the genre(unless you hate Hatsune Miku music, but why are you playing the damn game if you do!?).

Managed to pick up my copy. 4 minutes later, I went for a Fruit land smoothie and the entire shopping center lost power. My luck only got me so fat, but at least Miku is mine.

Oh, look. Amazon.ca is "Temporarily out of stock", and my order still hasn't shipped [estimated shipping date is Thursday, which is ridiculous]. If I don't get my copy with all of the launch items, I will be furious.

I really need to stop using Amazon.ca for my pre-orders. For the next E3 promotion, I think I'm going to go with Bet Buy, even if I need to pay an extra few dollars per game. Amazon.ca never ships anything out on time, regardless of which shipping option you choose.

Europe get the short stick as usual. I have to wait next week until the game get delivered to me. Anyway I like Project Diva series more so I can play something that can ease the pain.

True enough. I, too, find Mikudayo terrifying.

Also, what's worse than one Mikudayo? A Mikudayo accompanied by a Sakura Mikudayo.

That's creepy.

I said it quite a while back, but I like the design of the wallet chain (though no idea if I'll use it). It's nice & simple/subtle without screaming LOOK IT'S BASED ON MIKU & VOCALOIDS (aside from the game logo, but that's fine) but a fan could still see it & realize it's the color scheme of Miku.

Just grabbed my copy from Amazon out of the mail box. I'm an AR dweeb so I'm loooking forward to messing with that.

Initial playing, I can already tell that this was meant for someone like me: digs vocaloid productions, fan of the Hatsune Miku series, but for that gamer who needs a little bit less-steep of a learning curve...and loves the quirky extras. The difficulty here is just enough to keep my heart pumping, but not enough to get frustrated yet. Perfect.

Just knowing PuyoPuyo is there for when I get bored doing the songs is enough to keep me excited.
