I don't have HBAO+ on and that cutscene was low FPS for me too. It's HBAO+ that causes the cutscene drops. Kinda hard to blame the port for an nVidia cock up.

Changelist:
- The game sometimes stopped progression once "Mission 29" or "Mission 42" were cleared while having Quiet as a buddy. This issue was fixed.
- The game sometimes stopped progression during the tutorial when the player first acquires FOBs, while using a gamepad. This issue was fixed.
Hey guys, I'm having some problems with Geforce Experience. When I go to optimize the game I'm told that the client is "unable to retrieve current settings. Please restart the game" like some reported in this thread https://forums.geforce.com/default/...ear-solid-phantom-pain-in-geforce-experience/
However, their fix doesn't work for me. program files/steam/userdata only contains folders with numbers.
Potential solutions I've already tried: restart computer, verify integrity of game cache with steam, reinstalled Geforce experience, reinstalled the latest drivers, rolled back to previous drivers, booted the game in fullscreen, windowed, and fullscreen borderless.
I'm able to set my game how I like other than the resolution. Geforce experience lets me know that I'm able to utilize DSR but because I can't optimize the game I can't utilize that feature. Is there any way to utilize DSR outside of clicking "optimize" in the Nvidia Geforce client?

Finally got around to play it and I've got the strange feeling that Gsync isn't working with the game correctly? Performance is good, around 45~60fps at 1440p maxed out with an i5 4570 but I can totally feel the framerate differences while panning unlike in other games I've played with Gsync. Sb else feeling the same? It sounds weird and obviously I can't really measure if Gsync is working or not. It says on in the display OSD though.
Maybe I'll try to unlock the framerate and see if it helps
I dunno, ever since I started using Gsync games felt way smoother once they hit the 45fps+ range.I can definitely sense a difference between 45 and 60 FPS in other games. Maybe it's just that?
Anyway, my monitor's display options can also confirm whether or not G-Sync is in effect and I've seen no reason to doubt its accuracy.
Sure. Open the NV control panel, navigate to 3D settings and select the wanted DSR factors there, then hit apply.
I hope they fix the massive performance drops in some cutscenes.
So far I've had one under the bed or thereabouts in the beginning cutscene and I think first time I arrived to Africa.
You using HBAO+ forced through the nvidia drivers? Those performance drops are due to that on Nvidia's side, I was hoping there'd be a response from them about that by now.
didn't a few people earlier in the thread say they had the same problem even without HBAO+ on?You using HBAO+ forced through the nvidia drivers? Those performance drops are due to that on Nvidia's side, I was hoping there'd be a response from them about that by now.

I'm not sure if its actually tied to HBAO+? The dip under the bed in the prologue happened to me before I enabled HBAO+

Yeah, I'm pretty sure these are just weird sections of the games that have bugs/insane performance issues. For instance, the intro had a few spots that ran like ass similarly to this cutscene, and I played through that without HBAO+.

either way it's lucky the instances of the slowdown are limited to certain cutscenes that are very far apart. hope it gets fixed though.
unrelated, but according to steamspy mgsv is currently heading to 550,000 copies on pc. it'll probably top out at over a million by october if this momentum keeps going. it's been at the top of the steam charts solidly for weeks.

I don't remember if I had HBAO+ during the opening myself.
That scene, there's a scene with a certain npc doing exposition in the helo, the moment you set foot in Africa, and a brief dip when Ishmael rolls you under the bed in the prologue.
All tied to forced HBAO+
I think some of theI turned off HBAO+ to avoid the fps drops in certain cutscenes and still got a crazy drop. Not sure about the other cutscenes though.when Huey unveils the finished Battle Gear
How do you participate in these? I'm at 29 and don't want to risk it crapping out on me.
Right click on the game in your library, go to properties and in the betas tab choose the beta from the dropdown menu.
Easiest way is to turn the in-game SSAO back on, that should override the Nvidia settings. Then, after the scene, just turn it back off and the HBAO will kick in again.I'm on mission 29, so the only way to get good performance out of that cutscene is to temporarily turn off hbao+?

I just think those are the last level mips. Not unfiltered textures.Älg;178437164 said:Does anyone else have an issue where some textures don't get filtered if they're a certain distance away? It's not all textures, only some, but it's really noticable. I've activated filtering in NVCP but it does nothing.
I've tried to show it in these images. Notice how the angle is exactly the same in both images, but in the latter the texture on the left side of the road has started to become filtered. Also notice how all textures except the ones beside the read are already filtered. It's kind of difficult to show in still images, but it's super noticable during movement.

Does anyone know exactly what effects are reduced when changing the setting from Extra High down to High? Doing so definitely fixes any dust-related frame rate drops but to my eye it still looks great. I suspect that light bloom and particle effects would also be reduced in some fashion but hopefully not enough for me to notice.

Guys, are you all playing with DoF On or Off?
I've been playing with it on, but I'm still not sure I like it, sometimes, it blurs the wrong things...
Yup, same here. Clearly something they overlooked in that cutscene. There is a scene on the R&D platform of mother base with Huey.
Where Huey is finishing building the battle gear where there are blue electrical flashes from the canon being primed
That was the only time I've had my frame rate tank to single digits from the steady 60 I was getting all game.
Anyone else?

I'm getting a lot of frame hitching. The game drops 1-3 frames randmoly while i'm playing and I have no idea why. I've moved everything to high and from reading this fourm, i should be able to stay at extra high.

Vsync is on in game. no i have not unlocked my frame rate, how do i do that? the game only give me the option for auto. And i've tried full screen and borderless and i was still having this issue.
