Super Mario Maker |OT| Miyamoto Simulator 2015

Got the very end of the last page so I'm gonna repost this...

Second level done! Still only have the initial tools so it's still pretty basic, but I think it's pretty fun. Just went for a natural feeling Mario level.

My first level's doing pretty good. 26 runs and 7 stars. 12.71%. Crazy, I didn't think it was that hard. And it's short.

The notification stuff in this game is awesome and the creation tools are so fun an easy. This might be the first creator game that I actually spend a lot of time creating stuff. I just wish you could watch people play your levels.

My favourite thing in Mario are how the levels are made to speed through them with every elements made to be in the right place if you don't wait to interact with them so you have an uninterrupted flow with a bit of openess and choice.
So obviously I made something like that but it doesn't look like it's something shared.
There's a lot of hard levels but you see they're not thought out to have an optimized run, more about patience and puzzle solving.
I would be happy with levels in the nsmb2 hard pack territory.

Created my first level. Only used the first set of tools. I don't know what to think of it, how hard it is or how good the "hidden" parts are.

I finally got my copy and after about an hour, I must say this is one of the best level editors I've ever used. The music when playing around with pieces is phenomenal!

Just made my first level. Go easy on me, please!

Noted! Will try!

This game is INSANE! The UI is magical. Has creating levels ever been this much fun? Just the different sounds and possibilities are making me smile.
The unlock system sped up! SMW skin unlocked! I'm preparing 3 levels in parallel. Compared to the first I made those will be way better. I'm already smiling making them. They are inspired by Super Mario Galaxy level design. Can't wait to show them to you guys!

EDIT: How do you create fiery enemies and is the night club music a second set of sounds?

Question, but is the mario trail supposed to be something you need to unlock?

Yes, it will appear in a while.

Gonna get to the ones on this page in a bit.

Once more before I start in on 1-2.

Nothing too tricky since its intended to be a 1-1, but still i'd think a decent challenge and quick. Also if you time your jumps just right, you probably can fly through the level.

Throw all the constructive criticism you can at me.

Gong to throw mine up before I go to bed (I posted it About 12 hours ago so figure there is a new bunch of people on)

mini obstacle course using the propellor helmet. Made with basic items, so might expand it over the weekend.

i will say, that was one of the more "authentic" mario levels in that its very similar to standard old mario level design. but that also weighs against it when you consider there wasnt anything in particular that hasnt been done in the old ones (i might have missed some secrets though, i just got the one at the beginning and some of the boxes you have to hit with a shell). I still enjoyed it though considering most maps ive played feel like a few lucky jumps, yours felt like an actual level.

My 10 year old daughter is wiping the floor with me. And I've been a game designer for over 30 years.

Her ideas are proper high concept:

Alright guys just spent a ton of time on a what I think is a really awesome course that plays with the mechanics of the Giant Mushroom underwater. You guys need to try it and tell me what you think! I even hid a few secrets in the level. Hot damn, I love this game so much!

Big Trouble in Retro Reef!

If you like it be sure to star, because I want this one to have some exposure. Worked super hard on it.

Quoting to try later. I'll leave you a constructive opinion.

Quoted for great justice!

This was my pretty much my approach, feel free to give it a few different runs:

20 seconds or under qualifies as a speed run.

Even though it's quite unusual in design it's quite short and not very varied. The layer at the top of the level irritated me. Are you able to reach it?

It's short but that made me replay it after I beat it to see if I can speed through it, and realised I could do it if I wanted.

Thank you. Yeah, I was going for a very standard mario level design. There is another secret that enables you to reach the top of the flagpole. Though it's probably also nothing new. Hint:
You have to jump off of a red Koopa Troopa

Made another level, which was another attempt at coming up with a creative way to use the default tools by having stuff come down on Mario from above and try to "cage" him: AC8C-0000-0019-B431

Also changed my first level a bit to see if I could fix a bug that randomly happens on it (piranhas getting inside the springs) but I haven't tested to see if my solution actually works (if it doesn't I can't think of any way to deal with it). The level is harder than my second one but I tried to take account the way Mario moves: 2D77-0000-0019-BF96

Sorry for the repeat question...posted this on page 30 and never got a reply:

For the costume unlocks, using the amiibo once lets you put the character in the game whenever you want.

For the big mushroom you get with the classic Mario amiibo, it seems out have to touch the amiibo to the gamepad whenever you want to use it.

Am I doing something wrong, or is it the same for you guys?
