SCEJA Press Conference 2015 dated for September 15

The DQ Heroes reaction was hilarious because it was just the beginning and I think some people didn't take that into consideration. It was a huge deal because now there are what... 4 DQ games on the system with one being the next mainline? That's huge.

For all intents and purpose, "press conference" type shows are a very "in-the-moment" kind of thing. By and large, they'll be looked back isolated from the subsequent developments, since at that stage, there was still a lot of FUD about XI not being a traditional DQ game in the platform sense.

I mean, if I look back at the past 12 months in terms of Japanese games announced for consoles/dedicated handheld outside of E3/Gamescom, there's a lot of games coming from the Japanese development scene.

Are any of them 'megatons' aside from the annual announcements of more Yokai, MonHun, expected DQXI, etc? I would say not really, but it's far more than what I was concerned Japan was going to be 2 years ago.

I was just thinking how sceja can even top last year's conference
Then I looked up the synopsis on it and remembered truly how wretched it was
Holy shit was it awful
The persona dragon quest combo really saved it from being a total disaster
What Persona game? Wasn't Persona 5 revealed at a special concert/livestream?

I honestly remember Dragon Quest Heroes being the major announcement. There wasn't anything for the Vita unlike the 2013 one. I sure hope 2015 conference is more like 2013.

Im reall hoping rumors are correct that it will be a combo of multiple hot shots games ie. tennis, golf, etc.
I am definitely down for some Hot Shots Tennis game. I loved the last one on PSP.

Horii had been saying for more than a year that it wouldn't be on mobile and he wanted it to be on big screen. People just didn't listen.

It's becoming a constant with S-E over the last few years. They're actually very honest and straightforward in interviews. FFXV being an action-RPG, FFVII Remake being a thing, DQXI coming to console, old JRPG IPs making a comeback (Nier, Star Ocean), etc. have been strongly hinted months or even years before being announced.

Maybe Capcom will showcase Deep Down again.

But this time at the end of the video, the avatar enters the time machine thing and goes back to an ancient land. A land that was ravaged by a Dragon. The Dragon walks up to you, points and says " We meet again Chosen One " and fades to black.

Deep Down morphs to DD. DD then morphs into Dragons Dogma 2.

That'd be pretty neat indeed! We didn't get a home or portable Hot Shots Tennis game for some time now, so I would welcome that merger! As long as neither part of the game suffer from it of course.

Any chance Square/ Tecmo Koei 's FF Dissidia game by Team Ninja gets shown off during the conference?

That's odd, I thought the conference was generally regarded as a comeback of sorts for TGS after it had been flatlining for a few years previously. It wasn't a TERRIFIC presser, but it delivered well enough by pumping out a steady stream of new game announcements and throwing a couple of shockers in there for good measure. It certainly wasn't "awful."

The vibe I get from reading GAF's colour commentary of press conferences is that presentation is actually rather important to them, judging by how much complaints there are about stuff like "hai hai hai dozo bows" or when presenters come out dressed in Saint Seiya costumes.

And Japanese-style presentation has never been especially popular on GAF. So even if a show is packed-to-the-brim with content, the fact that there's 20 minutes of western games in Japanese dubbed trailers annoys them even though those things don't detract from the fact that there are lot of announced games as a whole.

That, and well, high expectations in general.

Do we know how long this conference will be?
If I remember correct it was 2 hours last year, but the first half was almost a replay of E3. Only in the last 30-45 minutes they started with nice announcements/gameplay you'd expect from a japanese event.

This year they should've enough to make this whole conference much more japan centric than last year (hopefully enough of the already announced games are ready to show).
But if they can't, they should cut some of the stuff noone cares about at TGS. Sure, Destiny/CoD will most likely appear because of their contracts, but these should be exceptions this time, not the main program in the first 60 minutes.

Contrary to popular belief, western games are sold in Japan, some of them sell very well, and there are a sizable chunk of the Japanese audience who don't understand English to watch their E3 reveals.

Also, no, only about 30 minutes was "E3 retread." The first 30 minutes was spent on Vita.

Yes, the high profile ones (and these are the exceptions they can/have to show like I said), but they have much better japan-centric stuff this time, that'll also sell more. And I was mainly talking about the PS4 part, not Vita. Of course the vita stuff isn't western centric at all for obvious reasons. ;)

That is on the 15th right, or 16th?

Unsure if the hours are ahead of us or behind. Thanks

This should help you out:

I know some are tired of them but what HD remasters would you like to see pop up here (or at TGS more generally)? Apart from the obvious FFXII IZJS.

I'm really hoping we get a Demons/Dark Souls collection on PS4. I imagine these games have physics tied to gameplay/animations though (PC Dark Souls has distance issues when jumping in 60 fps) but even locked 30fps would be nice with these.

I hope that if there's a Team Ninja presence we get HD versions of all the Ninja Gaiden games, even Razors Edge (but not Yaiba). Would be cool if they imported the additional characters from RE into the main campaign of 2. Would be interested in seeing any balance changes they do as well, to see if Hayashi has figured it out yet.

HD remasters I'd like to see?

Shenmue I&II
Sakura Taisen : Ichiro Ogami Collection
Ryu ga Gotoku Collection
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 & 2.5 & Dream Drop Distance HD
Xenosaga Trilogy

Sorry if it's already been answered in this thread but are they streaming this live like they do with their other shows now? If so, does anybody know where people outside of Japan will be able to stream it?

Yes, it'll be streamed live. And Youtube, Niconico, and Ustream links should go up as we get closer to the event.

Thanks, had been looking on the Japanese Playstation Blog. Don't speak the language but think I've found their stream.

『SCEJA Press Conference 2015』9月15日(火)開催! PS.Blogでストリーミング中継!
(Waiting to be corrected)

Good to see that they treat this things on more of a global scale these days, it makes it far easier to follow them. :)

Gonna wake up for the TGS conf. since it starts at 11 AM my country time :D will watch it, have lunch then go to work.
I look forward to GAF explosions and meltings.

Man, Im excited for this like I havent for TGS for a while.

And we still have PGW and PSX to look out for. 2015 has been a good gaming year

So on a scale from "never going to happen" to "I should just kill myself now" how likely is it that we'll get a Parappa 3 announcement from this?
