It's strange, because the strategy guide makes no mention of a "Nuclear Disarmament" ending.

That being said, maybe it was hidden because it ties into Mission 46?

They said the real or "special" ending, whatever it was, wasn't revealed. People said it was the V is not BB thing, but that was already mentioned.

I really love the Skull Face lust for revenge scene. One thing I don't understand is this: as Venom approaches Skull Face at OKB Zero, he is preparing to leave on a helicopter. Why exactly does Skull Face decide not to leave, decide not to kill Venom right there, and furthermore why does he bring Venom to show off the Metal Gear? I mean Skull Face tried to kill him twice already. Seems like movie logic where the evil mastermind reveals his plan for no reason and gets himself killed

Stealing this from a youtube comment:

oh my god it makes sense

IT'S WHY SKULLFACE WEARS THE MASK

It's not, it's clearly to do with the FOB stuff, which is why the credits rolled steam IDs into it.

It's not an ending as such, just something has to happen such as the speculation that you need to steal and dispose of 50 nukes (as the credits have space for 50 IDs), or everyone online has to no longer have a nuke (as the total number counts down to 0 of nukes in the world)

It directly follows on from Truth because it has Venom talking about his duality with BB over the credits. That's why I wondered.

Why didn't they tone down the explosion smoke effects for multiplayer? That framerate is inconsistent.

Yeah the frame rate was terrible at times, what's even more strange was that some maps in general had worse performance than others... I think it was RR, Ravaged Riverfront, that had the worst frame rate. People used to hate that map during survival/tournament.

Because a villain has to monologue, no matter how dumb it may seem.

After MGS V TPP, men become demons.

a fallen legend.... [soldiers from around the world all fall at his feet and abandon past affiliations to work for him].... punished and descended into hell... [rescues child soldiers and tries to rehabilitate them into society]... the madness of outer heaven awaits... [stops huey being lynched and spares his life after everything that's happened].... men... become demons [plays with a puppy and ends nuclear weapons]

He was probably getting on a chopper to fly to the Sahelanthropus location. When he saw Venom he decided to drive because chopper is so loud so its hard to keep conversation. Easier to talk while both are in a jeep I guess. Its just the typical movie cliche bs where villain decides to start a conversation instead of just killing the good guy.

The leaks are fake.

Ok the leaks are true but the true ending will be revealed in a day 1 patch.

It will be revealed on 9/11.

It will be revealed at TGS.

It will be revealed at Peace Day.

It will be revealed when MGO launches in October.

It will be revealed on Kojima's final day working at Konami in December.

e.t.c. e.t.c. e.t.c.

One thing that bums me out most is the fact that there's not even a big boss head option that you can switch to, i'd love to be able to just play the rest of the side ops and stuff without the horn and whatnot lol

That's another thing that always bothered me a little. How come all these people just abandon their prior lives to go and chill with Venom at Motherbase? Don't they have any family they'd rather be with? Nobody seems to say no to joining up. Perhaps it's more of Ocelot's dumb magic hypnosis powers. They're technically kidnapping these guys. Are they getting paid? Does Venom Snake endorse Slavery? These are the real questions.

It's not like the Boss's 'will' was some complex thing either. Everyone is stupid in these games.

The Boss: *takes bong rip* man... from like, space, there are no borders or politics or wars, y'know

Gene: so military dictatorships, got it
Big Boss: wait, so you want more wars right. did that guy say military dictatorships
Zero: no, she wants everyone controlled by the government and speaking english duh
Ocelot: what does big boss want, i'll do that
EVA: guys, she said she didn't like borders or politics or wars
Big Boss *ten years later*: wait, no wars. fuck she did say that. what the fuck man. well hold on, i still like the more wars thing
Patriots AI: more wars but lots of fucking money too
Solid Snake: why don't you just stop trying to create wars and politics and shit
Big Boss *fifty years later*: oh god why didn't i think of that, my bad yo

You try to mock, but people kept repeating this with The Last Guardian too. We just have to keep believing. For Xenu!

Let what go? The guide didn't reveal the nuke-free-world ending, and they said there was such a hidden ending. Nuke-free-world is the hidden ending that you can unlock. End of the story.

That is how I took it after I learned the truth about Big Medic. I don't understand the hate for the medic. Big Boss isn't some super hero. His mission to take out The Boss involved 2 other double agents (EVA and The Boss herself) and a triple agent (Ocelot) helping him. The legend of Big Boss that Zero built around him with all the propaganda and Big Boss's ability to get people to follow him is what makes people so loyal. MGS1 taught us that genes mean very little so long ago.

The conversation between Ocelot and Kaz where Ocelot tells Kaz that Venom isn't the real Big Boss happened just after he woke up from the coma right? The way I took it is Ocelot told Kaz, Kaz said fuck Big Boss but I'll still go along with this to get my revenge, Kaz and Ocelot joke about adopting a Big Boss clone and killing each other.

Even more damning is that Skullface was helping out during MGS3. Meaning Big Boss Legend is just that, A legend.

I'm betting a mix of brainwashing torture and indoctrination.

Let go of what? The community manager practically confirmed the nuclear thing unless he's lying which will result in a bigger clusterfuck. I think you didn't follow my posts around this thread and the one before but I for one liked the story overall and disliked certain things about it. As for the twist, it didn't bother me because I was expecting something crazier lol.

But the world isn't nuke-free. That cutscene specifically ends with Ocelot saying rival FOBs are developing nukes. And it doesn't look like a special ending either, looks like an optional cutscene related to the nukes you can build, imo.

I think people are forgetting that an entire act/bossfight/ending whatever was hidden in Peace Walker.

I don't think anybody is forgetting that. Chapter 2 is like Peace Walker's Chapter 5, including at least part that is 100% recycled plot and missions from PW (capture-escapees-in-revisited-areas-while-youth-plots-stealing-of-metal-gear). The key difference is that Chapter 2 procs immediately, rather than requiring that you do a few Side Ops first.

Yeah the whole "we're gonna go there" approach to taboo subjects was a total fake-out. There are other games that don't advertise their protagonist as "already a demon" that go far darker than MGSV.

Even stuff like the child soldiers was handled so delicately it didn't even make me feel remotely unsettled, which is not really a complaint I have... I just don't feel like it was as dark as it could have been. I mean they could have even maintained the plot by switching the roles of Eli and Kaz in terms of child soldiers.... Kaz would want to raise the kids as soldiers for Diamond Dogs and then Eli would lead them to escape under the promise of a "better life" instead of the other way around. That's the kinda thing I was expecting, rather than Kaz and Venom Snake being unreservedly the "good guys" rescuing kids to raise them as regular citizens, and then having them leave for no real reason just to go back to being evil child soldiers. It doens't even really make sense anyway.

it could be possible that Konami forced some more taboo stuff out. No way to know for sure though.

Venom Snake was so far from being a demon, he was probably a vegan and volunteered at the homeless shelter. Hell, they basically open a school for underprivileged war orphans at Mother Base.

You're confusing one explanation with another, though. The community manager, in a way, confirmed the cutscene was not cut. If that is true, we'll see. But that cutscene being in the game does not, in any way, prove there is another hidden ending.

There's a hidden cutscene for your birthday. And for having negative GMP. There's a hidden cutscene if you stink too much. What I'm trying to say is that there are multiple, optional, cutscenes in this game and until we know how this one gets triggered, I wouldn't expect it to be an additional ending.

The internal drama surrounding the development of TPP would surely be far more interesting than TPP's story. Sadly we'll never know what happened.

They showed every cut scene prior release, even the birthday one.

Oh yeah I didn't mean as an ending lol, I just meant at there is hidden shit probably things other than that nuclear thing that we don't know as of yet.

Sony always said TLG still exists, this situation is different.
"Always" is grossly exaggerated. They occasionally made statements that TLG isn't officially cancelled, but those were rare and cryptic at best, did you see the TLG threads over the years? It was never always clear. Did Konami or Kojima said anything regarding cut content?

Yeah I don't doubt it but when I saw child soldiers I assumed that part of Big Boss's descent into evil would be recruiting children because they "take to training" better or something like that. But no it was just nameless warlord bad guys using child soldiers to fight for them, and an instant game over if they somehow die. Again, not saying I want to kill kids in the game, but it's like... if you're gonna go there, go there all the way.

But whatever, it's not even Big Boss we're playing as so in the end the game pretty much failed to deliver on ANY plot, themes, or characterization and the twist basically rendered all our work meaningless and then gave us a 2-second pat on the back that's like "we're all Big Boss, now cheer up!"

The internal drama surrounding the development of TPP would surely be far more interesting than TPP's story. Sadly we'll never know what happened.

Such as? The only cut we know of that was big was chapter 51. What else is the big deal people keep harping about? That BB didn't go evil? "The missing link" thing has been promoted since MPO. MGS4 felt way more cut to me, it was supposed to have day/night cycles, dynamic environments, battlefield that was in constant evolution, etc. It all turned out to be pretty much nothing.

The 50 nukes theory seems realistic, especially since in the video, the cutscene plays in the game, it wasn't something just found. Plus he was probably one of the many FOB cheating bastards.
