Somebody needs to mod Ocelot saying that to Big Boss when he says "are you forgetting something"
This would make my life whole again and help me on the road to forgiving Kojima.

I don't blame you, it's a better game and it's going to get even bigger.
Better story, yes. Witcher 3 gameplay is janky as fuck.
where does rising revengeance fit into the list of bosses hmm
They're cool, fun to watch showpieces but not really the best in the series. MGS bosses are memorable for how you have to kill them...How you have to figure them out. Rising bosses are memorable because it's just so fucking fun to play.

Wait, I just found out that you can do stuff in the game to make Venom's horn bigger.

The following is a list of actions the players can perform to increase their Demon Points:

+20 - Fail the fulton extraction of an animal
+20 - Kill an animal
+30 - Critically wound an enemy soldier
+40 - Kill an animal with fire damage
+60 - Fail the fulton extraction of an enemy soldier
+60 - Kill an enemy soldier
+60 - Lose a staff member held hostage by aborting mission 22 (+60 each)
+75 - Destroy D-Walker
+90 - Kill a Diamond Dog staff member held hostage
+100 - Kill a prisoner
+120 - Kill a critically wounded enemy soldier
+120 - Kill an enemy soldier with fire damage
+150 - Destroy a support helicopter
+150 - Critically wound D-Dog, D-Horse or Quiet
+180 - Kill a Diamond Dogs staff member
+180 - Kill one of your Diamond Dogs staff member held hostage with fire damage
+200 - Kill a prisoner with fire damage
+50,000 - Develop a nuclear weapon

I didn't know this.

What does the horn do? It just seemed to grow and then immediately shrink in cutscenes. I know it's supposed to be symbolic like an Oni or a Demon's horn.

PW did a few things that I'm disappointed V didn't carry on. In particular, Co-op. What didn't work that well in Peace Walker outside of boss fights would have fit perfectly into V's more wide open levels akin to Far Cry 4's fantastic co-op.

I was waiting for a surprise co-op announcement all these years, but I gave up hope when nothing was said last E3.

PW co-op is so good.

I just couldn't picture myself ever wanting to grind through this game again. That's actually really sad to me, that the longest and most wide open Metal Gear is the one that's the least replayable.

You don't need to grind through it again though since all the missions are replayable. If you don't want to do mission 16 again, then don't.

It's not that janky to me, huge improvement over 1 and 2.

Yeah, in the cutscenes, the horn grows and shrinks for the purpose of dramatic effect. But if you play the game this way, the horn grows and stays that way.

Other than that, I don't know why you'd do it. Of course, some fans believe it will unlock some hidden mission or something, but you know...

Edit: I'm pulling this from another forum. In case anyone else is interested in growing their horn.

1- Normal Snake: starting level; basic appearance of Venom Snake.

2- Horn Snake: it has a longer horn than Normal Snake (http://imgur.com/EbBrNdP). In order to increase your Demon Level to 2 for the first time, you must accumulate 20,000 Demon Points.

3- Demon Snake: it has the longest horn and Snake is always covered in blood (http://imgur.com/RwjC9lQ). In order to increase your Demon Level to 3 for the first time, you must accumulate 50,000 Demon Points.

I had no idea, man.

Naked Snake already felt like a silent protagonist to me MGS3. I remember him speaking a lot less than Solid and Raiden, or at least not having anything interesting to say.

No, I mean if a few months from now I want to play the game from the start and experience the story again like I do with every other Metal Gear I own. I don't and it bums me out.

I actually didn't hate the Volgin boss fight.

Also, he is totally saying "Kuwabara" in his big fiery roars, right? Or was I just imagining that because I wanted them to straight up say he was Volgin earlier than they did?

Rising is number 1. He suplexes a Metal Gear.

Just the phrasing of your sentence made me laugh. Every boss is pretty much great and has some great mechanic too them.

Yeah true and the background and appearence of the bosses make the battles even better. Rising just had super fin and ridiculous battles.

For me the order of best bosses goes

3->1->Rising->4->2->PO->PW->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>V

PO bosses are cool ( but are kind of just replicas as MGS1, thinking about it portable is just essentially the shadow moses story but applied to Big Boss) but held back by PSP and poor controls, peace walkers were kind of interesting in the whole 'damage certain areas' but they were just bullet sponges

MGSV literally had like no bosses. Does Fake snake even kill a single boss or even defeat them fully

Are these demon points tracked anywhere?

At least there were codecs but Naked Snake was kind of a killjoy who hardly knew what a movie was.

I'm slowly making my way to 100%. Got all my S ranks, just have to get all the animals and side goals in missions, I think. After that, I don't think I'll ever want to see this game again. Just no real good reason to come back. The "story" isn't worth experiencing again. And the gameplay, while great, just has too much of a grind to it.

Kojima saw Star Trek '09 and thought the lens flare was the coolest thing in the world and totally not distracting

I own that Blu Ray. My favorite special feature is the one where JJ Abrams literally "perfects the art of lens flares" and you can kinda see some of the other guys chuckling.

Not that I can tell. I guess it's reverse Heroism, but I don't see any indicator.

But it's also reversible
The following is a list of actions the players can perform to decrease their Demon Points:

-30 - Fulton extract a common animal
-30 - Fulton extract a critically wounded enemy soldier
-30 - Fulton extract a puppet soldier via helicopter
-30 - Fulton extract a critically wounded enemy soldier
-30 - Fulton extract a Skull
-30 - Extract an enemy soldier via helicopter
-60 - Fulton extract a rare animal
-60 - Fulton extract a Diamond Dogs staff member
-60 - Fulton extract a prisoner
-60 - Extract a puppet soldier via helicopter
-60 - Extract a critically wounded enemy via helicopter
-60 - Extract Quiet via helicopter
-120 - Fulton extract a child
-120 - Fulton extract a very rare or extremely rare animal
-120 - Extract a VIP or prisoner via helicopter
-120 - Extract a Diamond Dogs staff member via helicopter
-240 - Extract a child via helicopter
-300 - Visit the Animal Conservation Platform
-1,000 - Dispose of a nuclear weapon
-1,000 - Earn the "Cry Havoc" trophy
-1,000 - Earn the "Speechless" trophy
-5,000 - Earn the "Cleared" trophy
-5,000 - Earn the "Trusty Steed" trophy
-5,000 - Earn the "Man's Best Friend" trophy
-5,000 - Earn the "War Buddy" trophy
-5,000 - Earn the "Reminiscence" trophy
-10,000 - Earn the "Conservation" trophy
-30,000 - Dispose of ten nuclear weapons

I actually didn't hate the Volgin boss fight.

I'm more sad than anything else over what could have been there. That first fight was supposed to obviously not be the only fight with him. If he got his electric powers back he would have been a great fight. Guess we'll never know now.

Is there a way to new game+ this?

I really want to be able to experience the story in a continuous way without the filler bullshit.

If you just replay the missions that actually have cutscenes, will you still get to rewatch all the mother base stuff?

Naked Snake had an actual personality and talked when it made sense. Can't really expect him to talk when he just got shot by a poisonous arrow. He was also very chatty on the radio.

Big Medic responds to a 10 minute conversation by staring blankly into the sky and by shifting in his seat.

In general I would have liked Volgin to have regained some cognition and become more than literally just a flaming ball of hate. But I guess that was kinda the point.

I don't get why anyone would want to start a new game to experience the story again, especially this story. You can essentially do the same thing though by just going the missions again in order from your previous save file, with the option to skip a lot of the more tedious parts the first time through. But what's done is done.

No way as of yet, we will just have to replay missions, cutscenes and all.

Traded my copy for The Witcher 3 and $10. I regret nothing.

Fantastic choice. I enjoyed the shit out of the gameplay in MGS5 but the story, characters, and empty open world really drag the game down for me. There's no part of the Witcher I didn't absolutely love. Just an incredible game and I expect the DLC to be pretty solid too.

Sahelanthtopus, Quiet, The Man on Fire? Those were boss fights. I'd actually say that the fight with Sahe was my favorite Metal Gear fight of the series.

I get that you're mad, but to say that this game had no bosses is a straight up lie.

Yeah, I can't wait for the DLC, it's gonna add soooooo much to an already near perfect game!

Wouldn't be surprised if there is an "ending" that is the opposite of the nuke-free-world one. Maybe you give everyone nukes, like SF wanted. Can you give nukes?

This is actually one of the few things I'm grateful for. I know I've said it a few times in other posts here, and I'm really not trying to sound like I'm "proud" of it (god, no) but pretty much all the terrible aspects of this game, they're all precisely as I'd feared. One thing I also feared was that Volgin's obvious resurrection would feel super-cheap; I'm glad I was wrong. Him not really gaining back a true conscious projection is probably the best way to handle it. It feels like, essentially, he's truly dead after MGS3. I like that, because I love MGS3. I'm glad he's more of a specter, a vision of hot rage, and I think it fits with the themes of the game -- such as they are, lol -- more this way than otherwise.

He was laying on an IV bag and ruptured it, not actually pissing himself.

how does he fuck up that badly

Lol that's literally all I can remember from his convos.

I had no idea, man.

Knowing that something as large as the ending was cut I doubt there's anything substantial hidden in the game.

Bloodborne still the best game of the year.

So far I would say:

Bloodborne
The Witcher 3
MGS V
Batman Arkham Knight.

Only Persona 5 can take the crown this year, Fallout 4 is not my type of game.

Sahelanthtopus, Quiet, The Man on Fire? Those were boss fights. I'd actually say that the fight with Sahe was my favorite Metal Gear fight of the series.

I enjoyed the sniper battle with the Skulls

E-Cigs were invented in the 60s.

Wut.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_cigarette#History

Started development/planning in the 60s and were scrapped before they started selling it at all, so nope. They didn't come back until the early 2000s, when they were actually sold. The form of e-cigs from back then (60s version) were completely different to the one that BB is smoking from in MGSV, which is more like the ones we get everywhere now.

The Man on Fire "boss fight" was the same as the first two encounters with the Skulls and the first encounter with Sahelanthropus; you can just run away. That's not a boss fight.
