Why was Mantis called "The Third Boy"? Who are the other two?

When and how did Ocelot and Big Boss get in touch between MGS3 and MGSV?

I feel the ending would've felt better for me if Ground Zeros was the first two hours of the game instead of a second thing. It would make the flashbacks to the helicopter work better, and it wouldn't seem as if Big Boss was 99% absent.

Mantis was the Third child in his family.

Not sure.

I think that was the plan until they hit the Konami Budget Wall.

I already hated Sahelanthropus for being more advanced than Rex or it seems more advanced than Rex.

Story: So stupid. Its gimmick is that it can't just stand...but that it can stand upright? So more than 2 decades before REX we have this more advanced weapon system already. They try to circumvent this by saying its not practical for a human adult to pilot it so Mantis does it. But then that just highlights another dumb story point: Mantis' power creep. He can fully manipulate this bajillion ton robot and its complex weapon systems with his mind but in MGS1 he....moves a bookcase.

Mantis supports Sahe. Mantis powers down when he gets older.

powers down?

when he gets older he MOVES A PLAYSTATION CONTROLLER, SON

Would have been better on a different area of the map, with more weapons laying around. Jarring to jump into the menu's for stuff mid-fight (applies to all boss encounters really)

Some encounters automatically call for supply drops and there are some tanks and stuff to do heavy damage.

But yeah, I wish there was an area that had tons of ammo.

Those TBC scenes were idiotic considering the first 3 episides of the game run together in one go. They should have just merged them with an 'episode 29' title after the helicopter crash, and 31 after the jeep crash and afterwards you'd be able to choose them seperately. It's not like you can't call in a whole new weapon loadout should you need it.

KOJIMA STORY PATCH EXPRESS UPDATE

GOT MORE SEAT LEFT :3

kazuhira miller was a bastard born from a poor mother, when he finally met his father he killed himself, he ended up in a battlefield where he lost to big boss was was going to kill himself but big boss told him to not do it and instead become BFFs and make a private army. they finally make that private army and it gets blown up because some dude without a face was mad jelly at Snake. he spends the next 9 years trying to recreate the army all while waiting for Snake to someday wake up. When Snake wakes up, he inmediately abandons him and sends a crappy clone to be his best friend instead, and he loses an arm and a leg and probably his eyesight. Then when he finally retires from active duty after sending his best friend's son to kill his best friend, his best friend's other son, a kid who once stole a metal gear from him, and his business partner kill him.

what a crappy life

When you put it that way....damn. 0_o

Is he still found dead in his home or is that retconned?

crossposting from OT.

So, I'm on mission 17 and I have to ask this to those of you who have beaten the game. Please do not read if you have not beaten the game as I am about to go into speculation

I want to know if there is more to the story than the obvious twist to the game thus far, that being that the character I'm playing is not Big Boss (which was obvious given Keifer's voiceover work for Ishmael in the opening cinematic). What I want to know, if this game somehow ties the Big Boss trilogy and Solid Snake trilogy well. This is my biggest concern because the gameplay is starting to wear on me 17 episodes in and I do not know if plowing through the remaining 30 or so missions will reward me from a narrative standpoint. Thanks.

There is no reward, only a phantom pain from the time you will have wasted.

Everyone keeps talking about Quiet, but I haven't heard one damn word about the fact that the sniper skulls fight you in their panties.

Are there any more crazy or weird weapons/items like wormhole fulton ?

Also

Is there any other headgear for Snake to have beside bandana and infinity bandana ?

Same goes for diamond dogs soldiers. They only have balaclava and it's upgraded variants.

And for some reason Snake can't use balaclava and soldiers can't use bandana sigh.

No.

I wonder how big this game was supposed to be...

PW had 5 Chapters
Surely TPP would have matched that in the early stages of development.

Now I'm not sure if I want Kojima to come out and say, yeah Chapters 4 and 5 would have been the remake to Metal Gear 1 and 2

:p

The silliest weapons I've got are the water pistol and the d-walker fulton grenade launcher.

Ddog's tactical fulton is cool too., but would be better if he could maul people at the same time.

I think having to replay the entirety of the hospital scene just to get to the revelation stuff of 46 is so stupid and lazy, it would of worked better just cutting to several parts of the hospital and the end bit.

Nevertheless, what a disappointing twist, Kojima however is still the only one crazy enough to try stuff like this, even though this time I dont think it worked.

When does MGSV break the fourth wall outside of tutorial stuff?

The entire Phantom twist is an implication of how you as the player have shaped this story. It's not yours, but it's not Snake's either. It's both of your legends as one.

Sahelanthropus has the head, feet and dick laser of MG.Rex. So that must mean somewhere along the way Liquid loses the rest of it's body.

Its completely stupid as I see real BB getting my face + name on his new passport. But the thing is, I cannot fucking identify with this medic who appears to be me only in the Mission 46 reveal. Because the game forced me to create some dumb fuck a few hours earlier.

He wasn't me in GZ, he had Kiefers voice. What was shown of his face was white for instance, which crosses a lot of people of the list. Plus, he was a male which meant female players could never identify either (they had to create a male, and give them their own name?). Badly thought out shit. I never controlled him in GZ. He was a soldier of MSF.

Its just... it doesn't work. Perhaps it would work if you happened to be Ishmael, you watched over BB for 9 years and got him ready for combat.

What did everyone think of the Sahelanthropus fight?

I got a helluva laugh when it transforms into bipedal mode and you look up to see its robotic phallus then it looks down at you all like "how you doing?" And whatnot. The actual is fight felt kinda lazy. Essentially just a rehashed version of the previous encounter, minus the stealth.

You can still throw supply request grenades around too like in Peace Walker. But it's odd to have both options.

Nope, it turns out Sahelanthropus is destroyed in the cut Chapter 51.

Otacon takes his father's work and finishes it, albeit without the 'standing upright' functionality. And the sword that makes rocks come out. And the little drones it can send out. And the chimpanzee noises. REX was made by ArmsTECH and Rivermore National Labs.

I actually really enjoy this game but thought this was funny.

A hearty chuckle was had.

MGSV is some of the most fun I've had all year, nevertheless.

Now that I think about it isn't the (spoilers for Bioshock Infinite)
MGS V twist the BI twist in reverse.
People should play BI after MGS V for maximum confusion.

the mgsv twist is just the MGS2 twist but performed badly

A better writer could have come up with a way to make the same "this legend is shaped by you, thanks for playing" metaphor than having you literally create a character who gets his face and mind altered to become the main charcter's double, shitting up the series timeline in the process.
