Ok I have another question after my last question.

Why did Volgin walk under the tracks of Sahamaladingdong? Why did his body randomly wind up in a camp with the Russians completely in tact?

I see. I really disliked Kojima using nanomachines as not only a copout plot device, but also as a means to retroactively explain/ruin the awesome villains he built up in past games. It didn't really matter how in depth he went into their inner workings, it still felt insanely cheap and unnecessary. Him doing the exact same thing in MGSV with the parasites was unbelievable.

I agree for the most part. I actually enjoyed MGS4's story and it at least felt complete and cathartic when finishing it, even though I didn't appreciate certain aspects (like the retcons, nanomachines unnecessarily explaining away powers and used as a copout for other things). At the end of the day, despite it's plot failings and questionable gameplay structure, it's still the last Kojima game that still felt like MGS to me.

Oh, I absolutely agree with that. MGS4 and TPP take these ridiculous plot devices to a level I can't ignore.

Because of the large issues of MGS4 and MGSV, I personally find that MGS1-3 are the only replayable games of the MGS family. (I must admit I have not played PW, though. I have only listened to all the tapes and watched the cutscenes.)

Nothing fueled my lust for revenge as much as finding out what this piece of shit did to Strangelove.

I really, REALLY liked Strangelove in Peace Walker, and totally expected her to return in MGSV. Only, not like this. Not like this...

Huey got off way too easy.

Parasites and nano machines...

Actually, the "best" explanation is that Psycho Kid Mantis didn't need or want him any more because he had Eli who had a stronger "REVENGE" feeling against Big Boss or something, which he didn't possess until later so this is kind of stupid, and so he decided to kill Volgin.

As for the body being moved? Well, where else would they store his body, I guess? Gotta put it somewhere.

I suppose he walked into the tracks because he lost his connection to mantis, who without he's basically a zombie/brain dead or something.

As for why his body is still intact?
 ¯_(ツ)_/¯

That's exactly what I liked about Randolph's performance in MGSV. He has a very soothing voice, like very gentle and nerdy. When you throw that voice into a character that may or may not be a complete son of a bitch it makes you doubt. It certainly made me doubt about Huey's actions in this game. In my opinion it was better to give him the voice of an obviously backstabbing villain.

I get what you mean, but the acting never seems to reach for that. It never seems to be the way it is because there was a fundamental understanding of the character - he just voiced the guy the one and only way he knows and has been doing for more than a decade now.

Fact of the matter is: Huey might think he is a good guy but clearly, his evil undertones tend to come out at points. He forced his son into a Metal Gear. He murdered the mother of his son. He betrayed and murdered his comrades. But still, we never even get close to see how he actually acts in these situations. I'm pretty sure he doesn't sound like an overly excited parody of a 90s anime fan like he does the rest of the time when planning on how to murder his comrades along with Skull Face.

But we never even get a glimpse of that side of him in his voice acting. He always only uses his "GULP guess I'm just a little neeerd!"-voice, the same voice he and Otakon always used, exklusively. There is no subtetly, no dual layer, no second personality shining through. Not when he pleads for his life and not when he throws away all pretending and just straight up tell Snake and DD what he thinks of them. It's all the same. And it's all the same to how Otakon sounded 15 years ago when he was pissing himself inside a locker.

That's plain bad casting.

why did no one think to just shoot volgin in the head when mantis wasn't controlling him

Volgin's body was basically a puppet that was controlled by Mantis. When the chopper with Eli showed up, Mantis sensed his intense rage and went with Eli. He basically stopped giving Volgin orders, so Volgin didn't stop walking forward.

Why was he intact? Fire parasite bio slime science magic. Why did the Russians have him? They picked up the body after they were cleaning up all the evidence at the power plant.

Listening to Strangelove's last recording was quite disturbing. That's a testament to how well some of the cassettes were in this game.

Here you go! If you are on mobile, go to 34:27. If you have time, listen/watch the whole video. It's a japanese exclusive of when snake meets Kaz.

Nice, that's proper anime that. I'm definitely going to try the Japanese audio next play through.

The delivery on their lines, even though I wouldn't understand what they're saying without the subs, makes it seem like there's a lot of chemistry between these characters.

Yeah, the chemistry is there and it sounds a lot more natural.

People mixed all the stuff Kojima said he would do in one big idea, but I think I that the thing he would do that can't be done outside of video games had nothing to do with the taboo subject to be addressed in the game, camp Omega, or anything else he mentioned.

I clearly remember thinking, right after the Ground Zero trailer was first shown, that he meant he was going to make the whole game one long shot, no camera cut, and the trailer is exactly that, and in fact it doesn't even cut to gameplay, it's all seamless. And I recall some Gaffers agreed it might be what he was intending with that statement.

It seems that other than with time skips, that was the plan, even the intro is almost like that. For example, when you see what Ishmael sees, there is then a weird zoom-like effect to bring you back to V's viewpoint. But the idea was probably dropped during the production due to necessary loading and that kind of stuff.

I challenge anyone to bring a quote where he says the taboo subject is the thing that can only be done in video games, or that it relates to Camp Omega, etc.

I showed up all bloody and smelly and I took a shower with Quiet. As she was dancing under the water, some MB soldiers were being super creepy.

Damn, does such a thing exist? It would be really fricken good.
I have been looking for years, to no avail.

Japanese Raiden
sounds like a legit badass, even in MGS2.

Japanese Campbell is the only one I can't stand. Paul Eiding stays winning in that department.

The music in this franchise is sooo good. Even the MSX games have some nice tunes.
Zanzibar Breeze all day

Just finished the game. Got all 10 pictures of Paz and showed them to her. Last time I checked on her she sat with a book. Nothing happened.

Was it all for nothing? <.<

What? The voice acting in MGSV is superb. I mean, Ocelot could have had a change in general tone, but the acting was good. Tara Strong was amazing, everyone was good.
I don't think any of the voices match the game they're in.., some sound serious, some cartooning, some have no affliction . It's as if the VA are all from different games.

Even over the story's failings, I am more angry at the lackluster boss battles.

No real team of rogues for the first time ever? And everything that was there was kinda lackluster. I enjoyed the Eli fights and that was about it.

Hell the Burning Man 'battle' was less fucking intense than the ladder boss in MGS3. No joke.

I seriously ran into the building in the area, saw a water shot which got promptly taken down by a RPG and was out of there. I doubt it lasted more than 2 minutes. And I never even saw the fiery man outside of the cutscenes.

V feels like such a watered-down Metal Gear experience

it's a fun action/stealth game but i probably won't return to it for a long time

Was anyone else disappointed that David (Solid Snake) wasn't the one sitting next to Eli(Liquid) on the plane from the trailer? :(

Was just damn Psycho Mantis doing it, cry everytime

So just finished Mission 30.

Holy hell was that story just plain bad. This game has literally the best gameplay of any game I have ever played, but daaaaaamn that story was bad and horribly paced. Does the story actually give a good conclusion if I try to get to Mission 50?

Try to answer without spoilers Im reading search results.

Also Mission 30 was like an MGS wet dream damn

No. Infact, it's all downhill from here as the pacing gets even worse! Stuff will just happen, and then you'll do a lot of filler missions and then more stuff just suddenly happens. And you can forget about a conclusion. You'll be done and not even know you finished the story. Once you've exhausted all you wish to do, look up "Episode 51" on Youtube, and see what it's missing. It won't make it better, but it will it least wrap up some loose ends.

When you think about it, it wouldn't have made any sense for it to happen that way. David never met Eli (after birth?) prior to MGS1.

No.

31 is the last mission involving the main story. Then you go to chapter 2, which is an epilogue for Huey, Quiet, and Eli. Eli's is unfinished and you have to watch ep 51 because it was cut.

There is no resolution of anything. There is a major plot twist at the end but it's fairly.... arbitrary. It doesn't really tie into the existing series timeline very well, nor does it enrich any of the events of the Phantom Pain in any real meaningful way.

I think mission 30 was the pinnacle of the missions but if you like the moment to moment gameplay (like I do) keep playing them.

But cut your losses on story, I just YouTube'd the ending and skipped all the cutscenes as I played. Not worth it after a point.
