What are the chances that there are still major secrets left to discover? Those assets that were data mined were most likely cut content or are they in game?

So 46 is it then? So it explained pretty much nothing?

This is what we waited for? An awesome core gameplay with untterly one of the worst stories told to date? A story that has no impact on the whole timeline? And the fall of Big Boss is not even presented.

It just doesn't make sense.

I watched that Joosten stream someone posted earlier.

She's got this weirdly hypnotic voice. No, not like in a "seducing" sort of way, I mean like in a
0.gif

way.

As somebody who never played Peacewalker Huey and Kaz were utter pieces of shit that I couldn't stand throughout the entirety of the game. I didn't understand why I kept either of them around given Kaz was a paranoid wreck who wanted to kill everybody despite the fact he was a traitor himself and Huey did nothing other catastrophically screw up.

Did either of them actually actually bearable in Peacewalker? Somehow Ocelot came off as the most trustworthy and decent member of your squad despite the shit he pulls in every other MGS game.

Both were great in Peace Walker and not pieces of shit.

Believe it or not, yes they were for the most part. It's like someone pushed their "dickhead" button prior to GZ.

Also, Kaz gave us this brilliant tape in the JP version
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaABZqW4DNg

Kaz's transformation into what his character is in Phantom Pain is at least understandable. I don't get how Huey turned into what he is though. It's like his whole character did a full 180 with no explanation other than it's nine years later so he's an asshole now I guess

Discussion level: what has Kojima hidden in the buttcrack!?

He was showing you the clothes were clean, in the crowded hallway scene, so it wasn't Ishmael.

After Ishmael grabs you into the other room to avoid the bullets, you see his clothes are dirty like yours from the first encounter from the man on fire.

NOOOOPE.

The more I think about this game the more I can't wait for another writer to take a shot at this series.

Problem is the game wasn't finished. Konami pulled the plug.

I wonder how people would react to a Kojima-less metal gear solid game that is like a remake of Metal Gear/Metal Gear 2 but diverges into it's own timeline at the end with some crazy twist. A universe without nanomachines.
Parasites instead ;)

That too. Also, when entering the room where he goes to the right, prone, the camera pans over to where he should be. Then he fucking appears behind Venom to push him down out of XOF's sight. Big Boss can teleport & get shot with no consequence apparently.

Nope, that's what I thought when I first played it too.
Watch it again, it obviously done deliberately to fool us, but he never teleports.

Huey was more of a Otacon copy-and-paste in Peace Walker. I think they took the well-known implication from Snake Eater that he stole Granin's design for Metal Gear and just ran with it, turning him into a full-on scumbag.

The problem is the dude had 5 years, at least 3 were towards development of the game and not the engine. I love kojima but he deserves blame too for using so much money, time and it still wasn't completed. I hope we get the true story of what went down a few years down the line.

What if Chico got infected with the vocal cord parasite? Hence the line: he was not meant to die in that chopper accident.

Makes no sense, either. :(

Why would I do what? Sell the arm?
No neglect your girlfriend for a video game hype lol.

45 ending is really nice, but the mission preceding it is terrible if you are not prepared for it. Also, I hated 18 (where you need to escort the kids)

I hope you don't mean the ending of that mission.

"On your 12 'O clock. You're getting warmer. Nope, you're getting colder. A little to your right. Nope, too far, back to your left. Now back to your right. Then..." zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

No I meant the "stab teh dude in the dick 34 times" one.

NOOOOPE.

The more I think about this game the more I can't wait for another writer to take a shot at this series.

It is amazing how upset I was at Kojima being forced out, and now, having played MGSV, how happy I am. It's an almost unfathomable turnaround.

The gameplay has been solved and sorted. That's the real legacy of MGSV. Someone new to tell a compelling story on top of the gameplay foundation would make an amazing new Metal Gear, I think.

And you know what? I think Kojima being free from the shackles of this series will be good for him too. In both Peace Walker and MGSV he's been drowned under the weight of all the canon and characters already created, trying to cobble a meaningful story out of connections between old favourites and failing horribly.

Yeah it's a bit strange they don't explain what the deal was with Chico in GZ. Then again the entire story of this game is strange.

I agree with that, especially the bold.

It's like for the first time ever, Kojima didn't intend for this to be the last game- maybe he had a sequel planned to wrap up TPP story, but couldn't, A cruel twist of fate.

You can cheese that easy.

Go north of the supply post and sneak in, one of the tanks is posted there and stationary. Get in and fulton. You need to not shoot a single person as you need the no trace bonus, but it's not very well guarded, so that should be easy.

Go back to the pickup point, phantom cigar until the timer runs out, call the chopper and leave.

Or park your horse in the middle of the predicted route. When it stops to let the horse get out of the way fulton it. You can easily fulton almost all the vehicles that way.

Parasites instead ;)

I want an MGS1-MGS3 Metal Gear experience.

Cause believe it or not, while there were supernatural elements in those games, they were never attempted to be explained away with bullshit science/biology to try to explain it away to connect our universe with the MGS universe.

Why can't Kojima just LEAVE THE SHIT ALONE. We don't need explanations, we don't fucking want them (well some people do). MGS3 took place in a universe where the Cobra Unit won WWII, I can easily accept that and suspend my disbelief for this universes own set of rules as long as they are

1) Consistent (which means don't try to explain them)

2) Doesn't attempt to explain and connect our set of rules with their own set of rules to make us belive it's "kinda" possible. Once that happens, IE nanomachines/parasites, the illusion is broken and you brought us out of your universe and back into our own thinking about how on Earth this would even work based on our own set of rules in our reality.

You're not. It's supposed to look like he keeps getting killed or something. I don't really get what the intention was.
To make it seem like he's a figment of his imagination, make the player doubt what's real with all the surreal shit happening. This should have been the case throughout the game honestly.

I'm really hestitant to say I''m looking forward to a MGS game without Kojima at the helm so soon because it just smacks of being butt hurt over MGSV, but honestly I'd love more MGS with alot of the fat and bullshit cut off, which I think could happen now.

Well the engine is done, at this point I'd take a VR Mission style expansion or a new game in the same engine. Hey even without Kojima.

Well that was mission 45.

The battle was dogshit, but the cutscenes were awesome and probably one of the best in the entire game.

Really, REALLY don't like that she's gone though. Kojima was going for shock value I suppose, but I enjoyed her as a buddy. Boss even removed her poster from the ACC for fucks sake. Don't be so cold, Boss. She saved your life. Twice.

And all that GMP wasted on her gear and XOF outfit, what the fuck.

Man after platinuming it I just.. feel empty. :(

I turn on the game but there's.. no invoice to collect, no radars to destroy, no Quiet to visit.. THE PAIN IS REAL.

Is it ever explained why Chico has a headphone port stuck in his chest in GZ?
Isn't that how they originally infected people with the parasite in the factory in Africa?

Is the larger horn ever explained?
It's a metaphor.

Feeling the need to literally explain everything with some sort of pseudoscience never ends up working out.

Whether it's midichlorians or nanomachines or parasites, it's always shit.

Isn't that how they originally infected people with the parasite in the factory in Africa?

No, the headphones (not headphone jack) taught the parasites language and were put into the throat

Chico had a jack coming out of his chest. Its weird and pointless.
