SPOILER: Metal Gear Solid V Spoiler Thread | Such a lust for conclusion, T-WHHOOOO

Skullface didn't even know about the parasites until he was transferred to Africa, which was after GZ.

Chico's chest jack is nothing but stupid bullshit.

Spoiler thread 3 title should be The Man Who Trolled The World

I could have sworn it's mentioned that SF had parasite therapy young. But it's not like the game isn't full of inconsistencies.

What is everyone's favorite level? I like Mfinda Oilfield. Its industrial like classic MGS.

I really liked the mission/level "Where Do Bees Sleep?" I hadn't visited either of the major locations when I did the mission, so running into both those areas was a big shock. I felt a constant pressure to move quickly to get the prisoner, because I had assumed if I didn't get to him in time I would hit a fail state. It was the first time I ran into snipers and felt threatened by a gunship enough that I went out of my way to kill. On top of all that I got to murder the skulls who has stressed me out in the Miller rescue mission.

Going back and trying to get S ranks in all the missions has been kind of a bummer for me, because the missions sort of lose their mystique. In a lot of them you can just skip the events as they play out and rush the objective. One of the really bad ones "The War Economy." Your target is right next to the comms center at the start and if you rush to the back base from the outside you can walk in grab the guy and walk out in like one minute. Its cool that there's that kind flexibility in the missions, but I feel sort of hollow realizing that if I had bum rushed most mission instead of taking my time they would have been way easier.

I think the parasite therapy he and Quiet and Code Talker all had was different from the vocal cord parasites that he grows in people's chests as part of his plan. Like, different kinds of parasites. Quiet was just also infected with the vocal cord parasites as part of his plan, and he was infected with them accidentally while making the individualized strains.

Parasites is the new nanomachines.

OKB-Zero

It's like Groznyj Grad play space on steroids (though I much prefer GG's design).

Heavily fortified compound tucked away in the Afghanistan desert requiring Snake to pass through multiple gates to reach the back. The stairs and elevator ride made me think back on MGS1 - the flights of stairs Solid Snake had to make his way through as well as being on the elevator surrounded by enemies.

That is my favorite level design in the game but as far as missions, it's a tie between 18 and 23 - saving the kids from the Mine in 18 and hand-to-hand combat with Eli in 23 were special moments.

This! this is one of hte places that had the most character imo. It was longer, it had more intricate design, and it had a lot of unexpected routes. I wish it was bigger, and more places were like this. Deffo memorable.

tho.. i think GZ had a better space to play with Camp Omega.

D-Walker breaks this mission though

The more I think about it, the more I absolutely hate how the game ended.

The last story beat is the Quarantine mutation, which leads directly to why Quiet left (with no real buildup for her but okay whatever), which leads to her leaving forever. Okay, cool. Quiet is my favorite buddy but I see what you're doing here.

But then that leads immediately to Truth, which

Why

What prompted this mission

Why are we thinking about it

Why not even a cutscene of Venom receiving Big Boss' tape and suddenly realizing? Maybe making it a cassette you find and when you listen to what sounds like an audio journal by Boss and the walkman runs out of batteries before you finish it, starting the Truth mission?

Why not anything instead of nothing?

Fuck knows. It's meant to be like 10 years later so I have no idea how they would have done it well without giving away when jt was at the same time.

You are right. I can't say I feel like retuning to the tapes to further my knowledge though.

First that comes to mind is that one base in Afghanistan from the Killer Bee mission. It was the first mission that felt really good to stealth for me.

I really liked the Mansion too, since it reminded me of earlier MGS. Actually, I think I really liked any level that was indoors/industrial, since (like you said) it felt like classic MGS.

Hmm... there are a few i guess. I thought the infiltration to meet with Skull Face on Mission 30? that was pretty awesome.

I stealthed that one for fun, but it's pretty hilarious once you realize you can just use D-Walker's speed stance to literally ride through the entire base in a couple minutes.

I would've liked a level to be in a large factory/engine room type area. I guess that's what FOB missions are for...but not the same

Code Talker mansion? Yeah. Africa in general > Afghanistan.

Best Afghan level is where these buildings are situated on a hill. Vague but its in Occupation Forces.
Yeah Code Talker mansion. In Afghanistan Da Smasei Laman. That's where the caves are where you have to steel the Honey Bee.

I really didn't get to explore this area as much. I got caught half way there, and ended up having a fun fire fight against snipers and a chopper. It was awesome. lol.

I want to redo that mission again.

Time is the biggest factor. Run to Miller, call the chopper in the town he's in so the skulls don't even pop and fly away.

Ah ffs, I was tick boxing all the extra crap. Thanks!

The game could have done with a large in door base section. MGS gets quite claustrophobic without the larger open areas to scope out. Especially without radar now. Would have broken up the monotomy a bit

I think he's wrong. SF had to be subjected to parasite therapy in order to survive, being a kid. I think I even remember him saying the parasites had been a part of him all his life.

I appreciated it more when I went to a side op, there's lots of routes.

I spent the entire game assuming South America was going to be unlocked as a third area.

It had transport missions and everything.

And then at the end, nothing. It was just Afghanistan and Africa. I remember people bandying about "Four huge areas in the final game!" in the preview cycle and I can't figure out what they meant. Maybe Afghanistan, Africa, Mother Base, and the hospital?

[EXTREME] Code Talker

DD isn't helping either.

I'm actually enjoying FOB defense the most out of everything. I pick a vantage point, track the infiltrator's general position on the map, and watch through the scope of a sniper rifle. Needing to account for bullet drop and leading my shots, as well as just being patient enough to spot the guy, are super rewarding. It makes me feel like sniper wolf/quiet/the end.

There's nothing like nailing a headshot on a player who thinks he's safe!

they were probably going to have another big area that isn't Island of the Flies but it was cut due to time

Have you tried avoiding the Skulls?

Skip the skulls by going through the river? That or come back to it when you have one of the anti-material sniper rifles they two shot the skulls even with body shots.

I didn't engage them. Set some of the mob around to sleep with sleeping gas, or shot them with a silencer. But never got to engage the skulls in that mission.
But I want to get the side objectives. It's a matter of honour. Sleeping gas is an idea. I tried so far using a tank and a missilie launcher, but they got destroyed to quick, plus driving around with them in that stony area is a tad bit difficult. I am really troubled to have four people I have to look out for to not get instantly killed. I got a Brennan and in one run managed to defeat one skull, but it's still iffy.

I drove through in a tank all the way to code talker's mansion. Skulls couldn't do shit about it.
Wait, how can you even drive all the way with a tank to the mansion? The river is blockaded and you can't cross the wooden bridges on a tank. I suspect that you can't even get to the brides through the narrow forest.

I ignored them in my first normal run of that mission by driving an armored car down the river and then climbing the crack, but I really want to kill them at the moment.

If you replay a main mission to extract someone with a special skill do you need to complete it for it to register?

Just finished the story.

At first, the end was pretty something and finding out you weren't big boss all along. But after letting it settle for a while ,there's so much shit though that doesn't make sense. So this fake Big Boss goes along with the real Big Boss's plan all along from the moment he finds out he isn't to the first metal gear? He just accepts his role? Like WTF?

And it's pretty something to make the player play the same tutorial mission pretty much unchanged. There's the reveal at the beginning with the mirror but "nope, we're going to make you play this whole mission again pretty much unchanged and THEN give the cutscene explaining it all at the end." Not even play through Ishamael's point of view which would of been pretty cool.

And yo Eli is fucking shit up with Sahelanthropus but we don't have a conclusion with that whole ordeal?! From what I understand, the content was cut but then why gear up this battle between Big Boss and Eli and then just not add the content in the main game to resolve this?! Such a gaping plot hole.

This game is weird. I loved the gameplay, it's definitely one of the most unique and satisfying open world games I ever played but it's mainly shite in the one aspect of Metal Gear I always play for: the story. This game really could of had it ALL if the story was well executed and presented coherently.

I misspoke the Brennan takes three body shots. Try calling supply drops on their heads or use rocket fist sniping if you want to cheese it. They're also way easier to kill after you grab Code Talker since they don't all suddenly get line of sight on you if you hit one on the way out.

You can drive most of the way through the valley but yea, you need to get out a little before the bridge but by then the skulls are too far behind to hit you.

You'll fit in nicely. In the tree, part of the tree. In the tree, part of the tree...

In regards to having all the cut content back, I would be fine with a "Director's Cut" edition of the game as long as I can use it with my current save data. I also want to have Quiet back as a support buddy - why she is taken away from you post-game is dumb.

I just want "Chapter 3: PEACE" back [if, in fact there is unseen content in it] and any and all cut content restored to the game. Kojima has said many times that MGSV is everything he has wanted to do with the Metal Gear saga since 1987 - so I find it disturbing that anything was cut from his "Magnum Opus" at all.

The "Snatcher" issue keeps dancing through my mind - it had only 2 acts initially, resulting in the game's ending being a huge cliffhanger; so Kojima added/put back in a 3rd act to wrap everything up - and it really did wrap everything up.

I really want to like MGSV:TPP - I mean, in a sense we get to actually "be" Big Boss, not just play as him. The 4th wall involvement in that aspect is really cool and I think I like it, but I'll have to marinate on it a bit to know for sure. That also applies to the "true" ending and the cut "Mission 51: Kingdom Of The Flies" and the fact that it doesn't really answer or wrap-up anything regarding the plot threads created in the MGSV narrative [and this is from someone who has listened to all the tapes].

Also, the leaked mission names list - there are 61 story missions on it. If you add up all the story missions in the retail version of MGSV:TPP you get 50. There are 11 essential/story side ops that should have been in the main story ops category; so if you add them both together, you get 61. Maybe they just cut out the splash screen for Chapter 3 and made it a 2 chapter experience? [yes, I know that the leaked list validity is in question - but there is just no way some of those missions could have been known by the general public in late July/early August. It's strange and has an air of truth about it.I think the leaker was just covering his ass by "admitting" to it being made-up]

We need clarification from Kojima on all this.

So, I don't know if you're supposed to be able to unlock this seeing as I can't find anything about it online, but there's Miller and Ocelot costumes for D-Dog.
I unlocked them via a LUA mod that unlocks all developable items, but they don't seem to do anything

I've got a couple of mission questions:

Mission 9 (blow up tanks going to fight the rebels): Where's the cybernetics specialist? I've extracted the six prisoners and the search party. Is it just some random soldier that has this?

Mission 21 (assassinate the guy at the airport): The blueprint's not appearing when I shoot down the helicopter. I've tried reloading the checkpoint after killing it and checking in front of the main building, and it's not appearing here either. Does the blueprint only appear when they're escaping or something?

Yeah, I'm dying to know what's going to happen with this game. Will it get the uncut conclusion it deserves? Or is this really it, and it's time for us to let go? If it wasn't for all the Kojima controversy this year I wouldn't question for a second that a DLC or a 'substance' version was in our future. But after everything who fucking knows?

Now that I think about it, the ending with the mirror scene could almost be used for a shaving cream commercial.

Probably already is in Japan

"Metar Gia Sorridou Faibu Phantum Pein"

Snake beard, looking down, raises his head, sees his clean-shaven self in the mirror

"Ma ta seta na?????"
