Didn't Harada say Q definitely wouldn't be in TxSF via tweet. I don't think I dreamed that.

Q , I dunno but he said some shit specifically in reference to mika and character popularity polls like

" Some people vote for characters they haven't seen in a while, but they aren't actually going to play. So now you have characters going unplayed wasting space, so sometimes you have to ignore those votes"

Something to that effect, which is really good advice I think actually

Q, C. Viper, and Juri are the trio I want to see return for SFV. I'm more of a character guy over how they actually play so if they are messed with a bit to fit into SFV I won't mind.

Sounds like good advice, but I can't recall anytimes where that has actually happened.

I vaguely remember him responding to a tweeting asking if Q would be in by saying they weren't "allowed" to use him, leading to speculation that his design might cause legal trouble. Then again, they recently re-released 3S so that's probably not the case.

Not a returning character, but Phoenix Wright is the most prevalent example I can think of..

He said stuff like this about Kunimitsu before she was brought back, and she proved to be quite popular when she returned. It's a cop out answer IMO.

How can you possibly know how people will respond to a character if you don't give them the opportunity? There's plenty of characters that make frequent appearances that don't get a lot of play.

Phoenix is an extremely unorthodox fighter, so it's no wonder if he doesn't get a lot of casual play. He has a lot of high end utilization though.

With genre spanning crossovers it's different too, because the characters aren't necessarily fighters so they can throw in a lot more wacky styles of gameplay. It's part of the charm.

My trio would be Mike Haggar, Crimson Viper, & Dudley.

So you're like me? I choose my mains on how they look and I'd main Q too if he was in. I never managed to play Chun-Li well despite picking her for the same reason, but that's only been one character so far out of every fighting game I've played.

Yep I can't get into a character if I don't like their design.

Design/Personality > Fighting Style

Obviously when I enjoy all aspects of a character, it's the best, but if I suck using them but I like them as a character, I'm gonna gravitate towards them regardless. And alternatively I wouldn't use a character I didn't like design wise, even if their playstyle suited me.

Here's a thought: what if Necro and Twelve were supposed to be Seth clones? Maybe the Illuminati showed up and blew up the lab while those two were still incubating or whatever, which is why Necro has stretchy limbs and Blanka's electricity and why Twelve has proto-stretchy limbs that aren't quite limbs yet and his stupid invisibility that could be an unfinished Yoga Teleport.

Harada has been arouned the block enough to which I trust him with that.

Then again, he was all for luckly cloe... and she doesn't get played. At all. Apparently, and it isn't because she's bad either, because the other bad characters get played.

I don't really think she was that popular, same for say like angel. I think thats why he makes tekken tag, that guy you want in that isn't relevant anymroe or dead. here you get one 1. And then thats it.

Maybe capcom just doesn't wanna use him. Like when folks ask sega to use archie characters. And they say no for no reason.

Bridget in GG's an example of that- he's not in because although he's popular as a character, he doesn't actually get played that much.

Yeah, fuck Adon and his hair, and his laugh.

The amount someone is played isn't the only important factor either, as long as their presence draws people to the game. Competitive play isn't the only standard to consider.

Online communities usually boil down to just a fraction of the roster anyway.

I think it does matter in most cases. Development costs money, you want that money and time spent to go to something.

Along with that odds are the characters drawing folks to the game... are the ones being played. I don't think anyone was going nuts over abel

That makes too much sense and you have written better street fighter canon than Capcom ever could.

What about the 11 other "Twelves" ?

I didn't say it doesn't matter, I said it's not the only thing that matters. The FGC are not the only people that play these games, they're not even the majority in most cases.

I'm assuming the Abel comment is just because you're replying to me. Obviously he has fans. Every character has fans.

For one, mentioning her in a conversation and gauge the responses. The fan noise got more concerted after he talked about Kumimitsu, which may have prompted them to include her. Then again, TTT2 is a dream match and even effing Alex got in.

Yes I am I like messing with you , i'm sorry if sounded mean.

question RE: R. Mika

i'm watching the latest WSO stream and i notice she has a move where she throws an opponent towards a side of the level, much like a pro wrestler flings someone into the ropes

i'm assuming that's her normal throw, but she often follows it up with a couple of clotheslines and other hits. sometimes they are EX, which makes me curious to their inputs. which of these moves is she doing:

So is Sakura in this or nah..?

she'll 100% be in the game at some point, especially with Mika and Karin in the game

she won't be in at launch

Not sure about those two in particular. We may have our Indian in the form of Zen, & Rainbow Mika is already the token grappler instead of Zangief.

And? Alex is more of a mobile grappler like Mika anyway. So what if there's already an Indian character, what is that?

She's doing the passion press command normal.

It's usually America & Japan that gets more than one rep in initial rosters (correct me if I'm wrong). Then again, England has 2 reps, so maybe. As for Zangief, it's the way that Rainbow Mika was described as the base roster's pure grappling character that makes me doubt that Zangief will be in the base roster.

She's not a heavy grappler like gif, and on the stream today the commentator kept pointing that out. I'm a gief/sim believer, deal with that.

I'm with you, lulubop. if it's somehow not gief/sim, then it's definitely alex/urien. capcom has been very clear about unique characters, and they're way too obvious. mika and alex are similar, whereas mika and gief are unique enough. they'll also share the wrestling ring stage :)

I'm just said Guile won't be in Day 1

Hmm I need to look at some Mika match footage, but they might be doing EX shooting peach after the rope throw. I'm not sure though.

yes

You can't have the rosters main grappler be someone with strong normals and slow throws. There's gotta be a more pure grappler in the initial group.

If Alex is in, they could make him Gief-like, with fast, longer range throws so he doesn't end up filling the same role as Mika.
