the amount of footage and playtime I've seen of these stages has already made me totally sick of them. I only like the china stage at this point I think

just drives me nuts that they didn't emphasize the lake/lagoon on the waterfall stage. instead we get awful rock and moss textures taking up most of the screen instead of just some nice looking water as the major backdrop. just feels cramped instead of open.

I guess I forgot we'll have day/night and weather effects. that will really help a lot. excited to see london lit up at night or gray and cloudy

Don't worry, when the tournaments start with the full game, all fights will be in training stage.

SRSLY fuck training stage and its stupid music.

I almost can't stand the China stage's music, but I love the stage finishers
I'm not a big fan of Union Station's lighting, but it's alright otherwise
I've really grown to love Forgotten Waterfall's music, and at the very least, I like the colors

Really though, we need new stages and time/weather implemented, stat. Save us, Brazil

can you expand on this a bit?

CH = Counter/Critical Hit. He's basically saying that whiffed/blocked reversals can then be countered with V's new critical counter hit system, whereas everyone has about 2 moves (usually one of their Fierce/Roundhouse move variations) that if it counter hits, it puts the person in a spin move stun state, which allows for another follow up attack afterwards. Most characters can even follow that up with a combo or naked super/critical art attack immediately afterwards. So basically, it goes as a warning for folks that like to just mash reversals out mindlessly can really get fucked up if they do it and the other person was counting on them doing a reversal and acted accordingly to avoid said reversal.

I don't really want to make a new thread about this but what do people expect for stage counts ?

Obviously , much like SF4 we won't be getting a stage for every character. Instead I think we'll end up with world wide environments subbing in for places that are close to a few players home nation.

So far, we've got the good old grid filled training stage (which I hope is banned from tournament play) , the Hong Kong Street level which also extends into a restaurant , Kings cross Station (an approximation of the main terminal for londons Tube I guess ?) and lastly , we got to see the New Zealand stage complete with mountain tops, glacial lakes , waterfalls and most importantly - sheep, lots and lots of sheep.

A couple months back a Brazilian stage was teased , looked kind of like it was near some favellas in Rio. That would bring us up to 4 actual levels and this got me thinking - we probably are only getting 4 more. That would give each stage 2 "locals" to utilize. Given the number of Japanese characters I feel like we will get a Japan stage in addition to Hong Kong- this will probably be a level for Karin and R.Mika. Hong Kong seems aimed more at Chun Li and Ryu. Kings Cross was introduced with 2 british characters - Birdie and Cammy and the new zealand level ? Well it remains to be seen for sure but Nicalli seems at home there. Bison and Vega will probably share a stage at some point , perhaps the ruins of a shadaloo fortress ? If rumors continue to pan out - maybe Nash and Urien will share some kind of illuminati stage ? From there, we've got a potential level set somewhere in the US for Ken and possibly Alex. This leaves a place for newcomer Rachid and rumored newcomer Xen. Although if Xen is malaysian instead of indian then perhaps he can share Nicalli's stage ?

Obviously we will probably have a "boss" level too, much like the greek pantheon in SF3 or the jungle airstrip in SFalpha or the thailand level in SF2 and the secret lab in SF4.

Training Stage
Hong Kong Chun Li / Ryu
London Cammy / Birdie
New Zealand Nicalli / ???
Brazil Laura / ???
*USA Ken / ???
*EGYPT Rashid / ???
*JAPAN Karin / R.Mika
*SHADALOO Vega/ M. Bison
*Boss stage ???
*hidden boss stage ?

Beyond that , I seem to recall rumblings about select-able time of day and possibly even weather ? This could add some variety if we're stuck with just 8 or 9 levels. Maybe at night the sheep aren't in the new zealand stage and there's a full moon and if you select rain , there's a thunderstorm at night but during the day it's cloudy and drizzling. Kings Cross might have rain drops hitting the windows and muddy footprints , maybe a different crowd would show up ? Perhaps at night time there are more hoodlums running around the station and a security guard is chasing them ? The Hong Kong stage could maybe be bustling with TONS of people if you set it to daytime. Hell, maybe one of these stages could even have a snow storm so instead of a crowd, there's deform-able snow at your feet.

That's great! Mashing reversals ruins low and mid-level SF4.

I was thinking about this earlier. Rain, snow, lightning would be awesome and could make something like 8 stages work for a 16 character roster. Plus everyone could finally have that SFA grassy field thunderstorm stage. ;)

As far as stages go, maybe 10 at most. It feels like they're pulling a New Generation where the stages will have multiple parts and I have a feeling certain parts of the stage will be assigned a character. So, for instance, the waterfall stage could be Necalli's but that Illuminati esque area on the right would belong to Nash. There's been rumors that each stage has multiple day/weather settings so these changes could help differentiate each person's stage.

that's fantastic

this is turning out much better than 4 already

Not sure how I feel about the whole blocked reversal CH thing.
With the damage being really high and reversals being a commitment now, it just doesn't seem that necessary.
It discourages people from mindlessly mashing during strings to get out of gaps

Damage is really high but they're mostly from punishes since jab links are supposed to be gone. You rarely see people using their alpha counters which are super strong neutral reset tools, so I expect opening up someone that knows the game to get much harder than it is now.

Is that robot dude in a trench coat a character people want?
Yes, he's the best

Q would be dope just for the animations alone, plus we could have effectively Boxer without actually having something as lame as Boxer

Plus a character based from a manga that isn't Jojo would be a nice change of pace.

Now this thread is talking about what I want. I would be absolutely ecstatic if Q made it back in. Even if they had to change him around a bit. So long as he has his super beat down, I would be all for his return.
