It's not about needing Quiet, it's about needing Quiet.

Quiet's such a blatantly pandering non-character with so little development that I can't even feel physical attraction to her because it's obvious she is designed entirely around that.

Remember when everyone complained about how OP Quiet is? and now everyone wants her back.

I don't, actually. Sure, she was helpful, but I feel I overused her. Without her I can at least try to grow some balls and do more stealthy missions. Seems that the game had to force me, but I'm ok with it.

Not going to miss her, not from a gameplay perspective, and certainly not because her inexistent character development.

i dont really care that Quiet's gone, she was making everything too easy

To me, even if I wasn't going to use Quiet (I did) completely removing her from usability is a very bad decision, especially since you only get 4 buddies. Other open world games manage to get around this sort of plot/gameplay issue. I wouldn't care if you could still use her but storywise she was supposed to be gone and honestly it peeves me a lot that I can't use her.

I just enjoyed seeing her run around during missions. It was like having a friend. Mostly silent protagonist and completely silent companion. If only they let you ride D-Walker with D-Dog, with Quiet watching over you...

And into the sunset. That's how the game should've ended. No reason at all.

I'm glad Quiet is gone no more fucking humming while listening to Rebel Yell.

*humming* oh yes very clever she can't talk so she hums to tell player she has a target locked.

Yeah that static shit sucked.

You got me. I died over and over and over again. Somehow I got an S rank. I have no idea why though.

I think they may have known the missions sucked ass. I failed 20+ times, used the chicken hat, fire support and a sandstorm and got an A. I think you can only get an S if you do not use restriction items.

I guess ultimately the question is, do you replay games or portions of games to see story scenes, or do you replay games because there's something fun there which you might just have an itch to play again and isn't offered elsewhere? Because personally there are a bunch of missions in MGSV which I definitely see myself booting up and replaying from time to time. I love Metal Gear because I love pretending to be a superhero spy sneaking around with a bunch of wacky tools, and I love the scenarios which the games come up with.

Mission 21 is probably my favorite mission in the entire game, and it doesn't even have much to do with the plot.

Generally, bits of both. I've always found Metal Gear to have scenes worth returning to and fun gameplay to boot. I probably spent more time in post-game with Peace Walker than I did up to the end of Chapter 5. Honestly, with Episode 51 being cut, I'm simply too dejected to want to return to the story missions at all. Yeah, 51 doesn't answer everything for most but at least it's AN ending and wraps up a story arc which started within V itself. (I've always accepted, enjoyed and LOVED everything about Metal Gear - but I can't accept the way this one ended. Especially with the damn Phantom Episode being on a bonus disc screaming "It's not over, yet!") But the gameplay is so perfect that I'll eventually get over it and enjoy the missions that are there, whether that bit gets patched in or not. Anyroad, with that diatribe out of the way... XD

The War Economy is a great choice. I like that the Dante Carver clone is just a soldier doing his job, despite not being in agreement with his higher-ups. Mission 23 is probably my favorite. Being restricted from using lethal firearms can add a bit of challenge (despite an already non-lethal play style). Removing child soldiers from the battlefield, gaining boatloads of Heroism followed by a hand-to-hand showdown with Not-so-subtle Liquid is amazing.

You killed everything really quickly. S is based primarily off speed, right?

EDIT: I tried deploying the most durable tanks I had, and they would just get targeted and destroyed post hate, even if I wasn't in them.

I think if we're talking about starting from scratch, MGSV is a very tough game to replay. It's like a huge RPG where there's just too much timesink to get to the parts you actually want to replay sometimes. But if we're talking about replaying missions as long as the save is still there, MGSV is probably one of the more replayable ones. Maybe not quite MGS1 or MGS3, but I've tried to replay MGS2 and MGS4 several times before, and it's pretty hard for me to get into it. MGS2's camera is too much of a stopgap between MGS1's clear top down view and MGS3 Subsistence's free camera. Feels rigid and annoying to me. Can't go back. MGS4's loading times, endless cutscene skipping, and lack of engaging gameplay after Act 2 really makes it a huge bore too. Peace Walker is pretty replayable initially, but then once I realize there's no one else playing and I can't easily get a friend to join in and do silly shit with me or raid a boss fight, it loses my interest too.

MGS1 is probably perfection when it comes to replayability. It's not as deep a game as MGS3, but it's the perfect length and has nice simple arcade controls and no extra simulation stuff. Also, Rex > Ray.
MGS2 is the most replayable to me, there's just a shit ton of little things in that game that you can miss and I always find something new everytime I replay it. Same with MGS3.

posts Joosten gif and "needing her" and then proceed to refer to her as friend...

I think you mean waifu. Don't betray your feelings. She was designed to be the perfect sniper waifu. I can't blame you for falling right into Kojima's plan. It's like a catchy pop song. You can't help but nod your head to the beat.

What are your guys opinions on miller btw ? People saying he is a great characfer makes me feel like im missing something but something about his voice actor and certain things he says and the way him acts makes him the worst 'codec' character for me. Felt about the same way now as i did when peace walker came out

More than likely it was speed. I had a fully upgraded honeybee, and I used so many continues I knew where everything was going to be.

edit: here's a bummer for side objectives. I guess since you're technically in alert the whole mission, stealth camouflage doesn't seem to work.

I'm indifferent on him. He was boring PW and he was worse here. The only time he was somewhat interesting was in MGS1, and that wasn't even him.

he is constantly channeling bale's batman.

i find mgs2 the most replayable, tanker and plant are done pretty quickly plus the VR Missions and Snake Tales give you content for days

They're the stereotypical angel and devil on your shoulder. Kaz is the overbearing, paranoid conscience and Ocelot is just eerily chill and all 'fuck it let's do that'.

MGS1 and 3 are the most replayable for me. MGS2 really bothers me with all the forced Codecs and the boring "switch over to nanocommunication because we can't be bothered to animate this whole scene".

Yeah I totally relate to that, just can't get over the camera. :/

This wasn't a problem before MGS3 Subsistence though, since I must have replayed the Tanker demo like 100 times. :(

I forget which tape but someone says "Your gene, my meme" and that's probably the most Metal Gear sentence ever.

It might have been the Strangelove one.

I think the most metal gear sentence ever is whenever the titular metal gear is mentioned, and the protagonist is curious about it.

"...Metal......Gear????"

Why would you ever start a fresh save of MGSV when you can freely choose which missions to replay?

Because you don't fucking get a single "mother base" cutscene nor companion cutscene.

So basically you replay half the game.

And by half , I mean that part left is full of fillers, so yeah, no.

Miller's entire character arc happened between GZ and TPP. Or even during GZ. He became a vengeful asshole after MB got blown the fuck up in GZ. Then even more so offscreen when he lost his arm, leg, and vision. There is nothing else to his character after that.

So I might be in the minority here, but I like all buddies except Quiet (though she was very useful at times). I wish I could take Ocelot instead. :P

Maybe I will have to get that texture-swap mod.

Rising had a dumb story working with a good/fair amount of enjoyable characters. I personally can't say the same about V.
The only memorable character rising had was the senator. Because of just how stupid his character is even in contrast to the rest of the ridiculous characters.

Nanomachines son

Ocelot at the end of MGS2 was on hot fire, telling Forture her wangst was all bullshit, then showing her all her powers were product of The Patriots (even if they weren't), and then shooting her.

Omg I remember how my jaw dropped when he actually shot her I was all OMG WHAT

I think I'll play mgs2 again soon.

The only strong feeling I have after playing this game is my hope that Stefanie Joosten gets a chance to be in something better. She deserves better.

Oh fucking come on, you wouldn't even know who she was if it wasn't for this game.

The sheer amount of patronizing and 'let me be ashamed for you' mentality going on in discussions I have seen is sad.

She loves the portrayal of her image and character within the game and has stated this on her videos and twitter hundreds of times.

The ironic thing is, the people who claim to be tired of female characters in games having their agency undermined by 'needlessly sexy designs' are doing the same to Joosten by saying that she "secretly probably hates it." and that "a gig's a gig" along with other such tripe I have read.

The only cutscene worth rewatching is "whoooo?!" anyways.

Are we gonna complain about the lackluster story and then turn around and complain that we can't see the lackluster story cutscenes?

Explain.

Yeah, but then he became an inconsistent asshole in TPP and also just started suspecting everyone. Only time i've ever bloody liked miller was him with snake and master miller, and even then it was liquid impersonating him

Kinda bad when i enjoyed a character the most when it wasnt him, i just find him the only character ive ever found completely annoying, which makes Peace walker and TPP almost unplayable as he has to talk every five seconds

Fucking THANK YOU

I'm sick of people acting like she got duped into taking the role of some shit.

So what? After listening to her in the game and outside of it, I think she has potential, and I'd like to see her used in a game that actually taps into her abilities. This game doesn't at all, and in that respect, it's a shame.
She loves the portrayal of her image and character within the game and has stated this on her videos and twitter hundreds of times.
Yeah dawg, she's really going to say otherwise and undermine the launch of the game.
