They don't have a European branch so they have to rely on other publishers to do it for them. NISA have been doing an alright job so far but we still have Devil Survivor 2 situations where we don't get it until 5 months after.
Persona Q was a fluke.
So there's still hope for a simultaneous NA/JP launch...
Though, the hardcore denier (which is obviously wrong, i'm going through the 5 stages of grief right now) in me notes that ATLUS USA hasn't announced their delay yet.
Not even a CE, just not being able to preorder any edition anywhere. The lack of a collectors edition should have been a giveaway.
Oh well. 2015 is still pretty packed.
Even the Swiss don't want to pay full price for games anymore.
We are doomed.
I didn't think there was any solid evidence in either direction, but my personal reasons for betting on 2015 were:
1) Past track record, the very short announcement -> release timeframe of Persona 3 and Persona 4 (proving they can keep stuff under wraps)
2) A long delay already from 2014 to 2015
3) Atlus USA confirming 2015 again and again
All these together got me to believe in 2015 (in Japan, at least) and while I was wrong, I don't think even now that it was that unfounded.
Not that it was unexpected, but it's still disappointing that they dropped the ball so hard on community management.
I wonder if Atlus USA was just lied to by Japan or they knew all along and were lying to us.

Whos honestly surprised? Such a shame![]()
Noooooooooooooooooooo. /DarthVader.
i'm grabbing my games digitally from poor countries like america ( ͡º ͜ʖ ͡º)
Not surprised but it's really disappointing.
Also it seems japanese devs are struggling with next gen and I'm baffled that they're still releasing stuff for PS3 in the first place.
This is probably a conversation for another discussion, but I do wonder what the status of the PS3 will be in Japan by the time P5 finally comes out. Then again, maybe the PS3 version of P5 will do better in Japan than the PS4 version, with the PS4's poor sales in that region.
if nisa's doing p5, i would think persona 5 will come out as soon as possible. it's a huge title for atlus and i think nisa knows it's a huge title for them as well. the issue becomes coordination between the two companies because it's enormously more difficult for nisa to try and match atlus, especially when the inevitable limited edition happens.
I think they underestimated the success of current-gen, and thought people would stick with last-gen.
That's the impression I get from percentage breakdowns of cross-gen games anyway. What did MGSV get, like 2% of sales on PS3?

No way, the PS3 is on the verge of dying off soon. The sales will heavily favour the PS4 version, especially with it being 9 months or so away.
Is there anything between now and then that will drive PS4 sales over there though?
Or does it face the prospect of selling poorly on both as its too late for PS3, and not big enough to sell PS4s?
Didn't they just update the website to say "coming soon" a couple days ago? Summer 2016 isn't "soon".
