A Wizard's Lizard 2 is worth a look:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/357830563/a-wizards-lizard-2-steam-windows-mac/description

The original was one of those few(also an older KS success story if memory serves) that got drowned in the shadow of Isaac, but this lot kept up with it solidly regardless on post-release support and content additions, with yet another update to the first game still in the works even while they are trying to get the sequel afoot here that has a stronger emphasis on the Zelda-like notions.

Just give me a quality isometric aRPG. I can't get enough of the genre.

Yeah I did, it's definitely on my radar but so, so raw right now. I think we're a good 2 - 3 years away from seeing it released. I was actually going to buy it but you don't get alpha or beta access with the cheapest package which is just silly IMO, they want me to pay $30 to test their game? Nope. If the Warrior package gave alpha access I'd buy it right now.

Is someone here playing Rack'n Ruin? I ask because it was a failed kickstarter I remember pledging a couple of years back and it suddenly showed up on Steam with 40% off and 100% positive user reviews (only a few of them tho). It's Zelda + twin stick shooter. Guess I'll bite.

Hey so the Kickstarter for the game I'm working on is going live on Tuesday...

Am I allowed to post it here or is that against the rules?

Well deserved!

I think there was initially some doubt among some people that the game wouldn't turn out well when it came to the first game; but the release, and the really positive word of mouth, has done Larian some tremendous favours. Looking forward to this release!

Looks great! I gave 10 pounds! :D

You know if there's any posibility for online multiplayer?

Thank you so much! And yeah it's something we want to do, have planned lots of stuff for it, but is slightly dependant on how much we make! I'd say there's a good chance!!

First Wonder's pitch video is laughably amateur for a game coming from an ex-big-studio name. The concept looks kinda cool though for someone like me who misses the PS2 days when mid-tier games were able to survive.

I'll be watching this one. I don't know if I'll contribute though, the whole thing looks suspiciously like a blend of Molyneux and The Stomping Land.

Yeah as much as I want to support the campaign, warning bells are going off in my head looking at the Kickstarter.

As someone who plans on trying a KS campaign, may I ask what your specific warning bells are?

Edit: well, I just watched the video and I found some myself...
The Regret of Vitrerran? That art style looks awesome
http://www.dualwieldsoftware.com/the-regret-of-vitererran/

Personally, some warning signs:
1) No gameplay. 99.9999% of the time, I have no interest in a Kickstarter if it merely showcases art and promises. The rare exception being Battletech, solely because I trust Harebrained to deliver
Even if it's early pre-alpha footage or a prototype, at least it's something

2) No or little info on the developers and/or their experience

3) No breakdown of how funds will be used

4) A discrepancy between a funding goal and the scale/scope of a project

5) A messy campaign page. Too little info, but also the flip side, overlong info dumps. No many pictures. Not nicely formatted. This is a broad area, but it's best to see well-presented campaign pages (Flame in the Flood, Slain, GRIP, Everspace, Elsinore)

This is a list of great Kickstarter post-mortems, a lot of good info

Have I seen gameplay sourced from somewhere else? I've definitely seen the giant running and jumping around and the little jetpack dudes flying around and I even saw the giant stompin' on a jetpack dude. I mean, even that gif is gameplay. Clearly super early gameplay, but gameplay nonetheless.

More-Badass covered most of the issues I saw (the lack of fund breakdown is the biggest concern when dealing with a high goal KS). What also alarmed me was the fact that they feel they can release the game in about a year (while they do have gameplay, it's very early and rough). To add on to that, they have only a five man team trying to complete this game. So I have no clue how they are using the money, and I'm supposed to believe that they can finish the game by the end of 2016 with such a small team. The campaign doesn't feel like a scam, but it's mismanagement just makes it to hard to trust.

I think More_Badass was just listing warning signs in general, not specifically commenting on First Wonder. They do have some of those problems listed though, like a messy campaign page, no funding breakdown and because of that it's impossible to accurately judge whether the $500k is too little, too much, or just right.

Yup, that's my game :P Glad you like the art style.

Will look into those campaigns you think did a good job, and I thank you for the breakdown. I consider some of those warning bells myself. The money breakdown thing can be strange though, because for really small teams, it amounts to "paying rent and allowing me to eat so we can work on this" or would in my own case. Not sure if there's a more professional way to get that across, but there ya go.

Everything else though is an absolute. It bothers me when KS campaigns are nothing but concept art and promises. Ya just... Don't do that!
