Karin and Rashid's reveals were less than a week apart, so Laura and Alex can be the same.

Main reason I don't think we're getting more SF2 characters now is because, we're nearing the end of the roster, we got SF2 reps, we got Alpha reps, IMHO it would be more sensible to continue the trend and go with SF3 reps.
Unless we get SF4 reps. instead :V

i think the design team knows what they're doing, and they clearly want to position this thing as the next big eSports game. i have faith they're making the right decisions, and honestly the less it plays like SFIV the better

What SF would you say this is most similar to? (excluding very specific system stuff like parries and custom combos). SFA3 X-ism?
 
Capcom sure knows how to keep people waiting on that Sean announcement.

With a glimpse of him , he appears older with a Gi on and completes the look with facial hair.

The backstory of Ryu's beard is revealed as he touches his own face after seeing Sean's and realized that he didn't want the younger generation surpassing him in any way. After months of not using a razor , his beard training was complete. Ryu noted that taking off his shirt really went along with his newly gained look. Ryu beats Sean with his beard and offers to train him but then goes to say that he already has what he needs to be strong and that he should let it grow like his will to get stronger. Ryu then walks off into a sunset. The end

As you guys can see , Sean is very important character to the plot and Capcom would be foolish not to reveal him soon.

But this is most likely before SFIII. If anything, Sean would be younger.

My concern with SFV is it might be a little too basic. I didn't like Focus Attack as a neutral mechanic, but I did like what you could with it during combos, blockstrings and whatnot. V-trigger is cool and all, but it didn't really add much for me.

Lower damage wouldn't work as well with the game. It would either be a case of SFxTK with matches taking too long or people getting reckless because of the lack of damage.

This is to force players to play smart.
So far, I agree with the basic thing. Don't think it's too bad though.

Mexico could be Urien or...it could be nothing. Although if Ono is flying there, you'd think it would be for some kind of "significant" announcement.

I think it's about time they start to talk story and other modes. I doubt we are getting that many new characters at once, unless they steamroll the DLC.
 
Yeah i dont think capcom is gonna put too much thought on the timeline/character age stuff. They will redesign characters they want and leave others more or less the same.
 
If Yun, Yang, Makoto, Ibuki ect. can be the same age in SF4 and SF3 then Sean can be the same age in SFV. Capcom don't really care about the ages of their characters.

I think SF3 for movement and Alpha 3 for counter hit system and the general way normals feel is the best way to prepare.

I don't agree with anybody saying Omega mode, since that's still bogged down with stuff like fadcs, invincible backdashes, etc.

The system mechanics of SF5 play more like the older SFs, imo.
 
So anyone think we're getting more than 16 at release? The game still has a awhile off until release yet we might know all 16 way before then. Maybe the DLC character plans weren't leaked?

Unless we get a Day 1 DLC character like Akuma, 16 will be all that we have on Day 1. That being said, I'm not sure if Capcom will go into detail about their DLC plans until early next year.

I think secret bosses may be involved. And then DLC happens, Because if they are willing to advertise vega I don't think there is much more than that at launch
 
So maybe hidden characters then. Would be nice to have a classic hidden Akuma. I don't really give a damn about the character, but having him hidden would be a nice old school touch.

It's still possible that there could be a secret character, but it won't be something you earn or buy. It will just be a free unannounced character. If anyone would be that character it would be Akuma. Though I wouldn't expect it at all.

Capcom doesn't do hidden/unlockable characters, anymore. Not since they got complaints about it with Vanilla SFIV & Vanilla MvC3.
 
It's be hilarious for them to announce all the characters before capcom cup and they still have another character to show that we don't know about

As stated before, there isn't going to be Day 1 DLC. So it'd be a bit too early to talk about DLC characters at PlayStation Experience/Capcom Cup.

I get the complaints, but think there should be a middle ground. Have the character hidden, but allow a oldschool code to fast permanent unlock.

I'm saying they lied about how many characters would be playable and just have another character to show that we had no idea about for the hype lol. Dumb idea, but it would be dumb hype for figuring out who this character would be.
 
Capcom should announce preorder dlc characters and a special edition for them. The Evil Ryu pack and the Shin Akuma pack. The money that shotos can bring.

Where was it stated in clear terms that there will be no day-one DLC, because I don't think that's been said? You can't really take that away from that interview above.

Honestly, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Having unlockable characters in a fighting game these days is a bit backwards (same applies to Smash, even though a good chunk of Smash fans are hell-bent on keeping unlockable characters).
 
when it comes to dlc characters i'm wondering how they will get incorporated into story mode, will it be like KI and wait until so many new characters are out, or get a story mode made up of all characters available at that point in time on release

DoA does this. There's a "tournament" mode that unlocks all characters and outfits for vs. play, but you still have to unlock them for online/solo play.

Wonderful compromise, imo.

If there is a day 1 dlc character then the game won't be a full game which goes against what they have been preaching as in consumer friendly.
 
I think if they threw in Akuma day 1 as fight-money unlockable but very generous/practically free, that would be dope. either a small amount of online wins or a story playthrough to make him purchasable, or just straight up free for the first week. I definitely want more than 16 available on the day the game drops. I'm sure there will be some kind of tears or whatever from people who haven't come to terms with DLC in 2016, but whatever, I don't really care. they can find a way to play around their 'complete package' promotion quite easily and non-shadily, IMO.

So if the game launched with 44 characters and one character as Day 1 DLC then it would not be a full game?

What if the game launched with only six characters and no DLC? Is that a full game?

I love the idea that a purchase is only satisfactory as long as you can't buy anything else that goes along with it.

What's the point of using that extreme example when we're getting 16 characters? The point is that people will find it shady that there was an extra character the whole time and yet wasn't included with the full game. That's what the opinion will be if there is a day 1 dlc character. I mean, there's already people saying there should be more than 16 characters at launch. I don't agree with that, but that will just make things worse for Capcom.

BTW, anyone know who (company) did the interview with Matt and the guys sounded like dicks to him? I'm trying to find that interview and also the interview he did with Gamespot that occurred right before Combo and Rip did commentary for their tournament. I want to make sure they didn't say anything concrete with dlc.

What they have been saying and were trying to stress in that interview is that 16 playable characters is the full package. Any unlockable characters after that are considered post-launch.

That being said, I think they might give it a week or to just so people don't get mad. Personally, I think doesn't matter as they probably locked in 16 characters ages ago, with DLC being developed alongside. If they have one ready when the game comes out, don't sit on it. The "day one" sematics are a bit silly.

The only thing they need to learn is not to reveal their hand before they're ready. It they just sat on the characters and released them one by one even if they were all done, the outrage would have been far less. No dev is going to avoid parallel development once the core content has been locked in.

Yeah, because you can't expect the people to learn
that they would have never gotten those extra SFxT "on disc" characters for free because Capcom wouldn't have made that much content for the original release if they weren't planning on selling them as dlc :)

3S for movement makes sense but i don't like suggesting Alpha 3 because it's just so chock-full of systems that won't exist in 5.

it's been a while since i played A3 - were the normals that much more effective than in A2?
