Yeah I'm sure they will too, I think there's already too many of them in the game.
It'd make sense to hold them back for DLC as they'd be big sellers.

Ken would've sold ridiculous amounts compared to someone like Q or Sodom.

I liked the way they did it in the Alpha series, just had the core characters in A1, brought back Sim and Gief in 2, Cammy in A2 Gold, Blanka/Honda/Vega/Balrog in A3 then the rest in the home version of A3.
Felt great to have those characters return as they been away for so long.

Gamescom is bigger than pax, I mean MS had an actually presser at gamescom. The reason no one expected a gamescom reveal is because Sony had no presence there and we weren't sure how frequently reveals would be happening.

Well the difference is that Cammy is a fan favorite. She could've been revealed via a text file and people still would've gotten hyped for her inclusion.

She's my most disappointing character so far.
 
What? You guys weren't even expecting a reveal for gamescom. Also didn't Vega trailer pop up a few days before the event, like he didn't exactly have a conference or anything right?

Well that million dislikes on her SFxT teaser trailer does say something about her too. She's popular yea, but Vega is too. He's even higher than bison and was top 3 in the 15 th anniversary poll.

Plus Vega was the single most exciting thing because nobody expected him except me, and even that was half a joke

And, if you think Vega is anywhere near Cammy in terms of popularity you're out of touch. Cammy got nearly twice as many votes as he did.
 
I think Vega is one of the characters with a good visual design that was burdened with a clunky, bad moveset. He seems to be a natural fit as a motion character and he definitely needed to be able to combo from his wall attacks. The crappy, tedious poke-and-run-away style turned a lot of people off to him. He wasn't very fun to play and mildly obnoxious to fight, his V iteration seems to fix these issues.

The claw switch stuff seems kind of pointless, however.

I think he was just pointing out that Vega was more requested than most of the roster and was actually given a substantial redesign to boot. I loved Vega in SF4 (no matter how hard I try he's the only one I can use), but I'm absolutely stoked about his changes and I bet more people who liked him will be able to use him now which is great. Not necessarily that he's more popular than Cammy, although I'm surprised people are excited about her at all because she looks exactly the same.

Making him more accessible though is genius and I hope they do that for C Viper soon, who's a character who I think has a great design but can't use effectively.

Yeah, Vega's design has been my favourite ever since I watched my brother play SF2, but he was very difficult to use for me in 4.

Being able to cancel normals with claw switch opens up a another level of pressure for him that he never had in any street fighter game before. I think it's a great addition to his move set.

I feel like a lot of the returning characters are uninteresting, and need more evolution.

Chun-li - aerial lightning kicks and a new V-Skill that doesn't seem useful. V-Trigger just adds more combo options.

Ryu - parry is sweet, but his neutral is the same old stuff. V-Trigger is solid because it makes his fireballs so much better.

Cammy - the least interesting returning character. V-Trigger is just more of the same, and V-Skill isn't even new.

Vega - a motion character now, which could be interesting. I'd rather his roll attack have different endings for mix-ups, but it's a charge motion. Then he has an interesting reward besides just a little chip, which is a boring feature for a charge character, and already covered by Bison. His wall jump is also just a modified Bison attack; it needs more. I think giving the move a ton of horizontal and vertical movement control would be interesting. I would rather he get his V-Trigger as an EX move of some kind, and his V-Trigger be some kind of insane serial killer mode where he just goes nuts.

Bison - IMHO, the perfect evolution of a character between series before they nerfed Bison Inferno. He still has the same basic playstyle, but there's a new meta to him with his counter, and his V-Trigger adds a few new and interesting options. He definitely feels the freshest out of the returning characters from SFIV.

Also with Vegas reveal I don't think they had enough room for an announcement unless I'm wrong and forgot how gamescom went.


Imo every reveal should be a surprise, since every reveal after that we've known before hand
 
The big difference between the Cammy and Vega reveals was the timing. She was revealed alongside a character that hadn't been revealed in a game for 17 years and right after a long drought of reveals. Claw on the other hand was a vet that came right after another vet - Ken - plus a newcomer but since Necalli was only first playable at the Gamescom build there wasn't much to go on between EVO and the reveal so there was more build up to his reveal and coincidentally he ended up being a bigger letdown.

People say this, but I destroyed every cammy I fought because all they did was sf4 stuff.

I definitely think she needs more tools, but she certainly isn't brain dead.


Skill level was so low in the beta, I don't think anybody can accurately say anything about a character yet.

She's way more braindead in SF4. The entire game is a shitfest of jabs, but she is absolutely center stage. With that said, she's not exactly a technical character so far in V, and it seems like she's Capcom's new Ryu, unfortunately. But then again, if they changed something significant about her, a vocal contingent would be up in arms about them changing an iconic, untouchable SF2 character. "Cammy isn't Cammy anymore," etc.

I don't care about the circumstances of Vega's reveal, whether it was at a huge event or a private party. Nobody* wanted him and nobody* is going to use him.

*Yes, a tiny percentage of people will, and they were probably excited at his reveal, but the whole point is relatively speaking. A small percentage of people would be thrilled at Twelve, T-Hawk, Fuerte and Rufus reveals, too.

Bro, more people wanted him than Alex and Urien. And he looks super good and isn't a charge character anymore, so you're crazy if you think nobody's gonna use him.

No you were not, and I am kind of sad because I knooow this stuff will not stay.. I was going to explore all of my Birdie ideas possibly this weekend, but now I will have to keep stuff mad secret because the version of Birdie we see there is too good to be true, and a major nerf hammer is in the air haha..

Hope I am wrong because he looks mad fun! It's just.. Even his jump grabs and chains seem faster.. Everything is better.. Just can't stay:p

Vega is way more popular than those characters you mention, especially if you played SF2. Did you play the SF2 series when they were originally out? There's a big nostalgia factor involved.

I don't think they can ever really change Ryu dramatically. He is--and will forever be, most likely--the one character in any SF game you already know exactly how to play. Plus, they can always use Ken as the experimental shoto.

You are thinking about v-trigger, and birdie was the only one who could cancel from his ex move, but Capcom has been more lenient with that in generall lately, and with v-skills too it seems. Wonder if it's just Birdie or more chsracters!

Do you mean worse as stronger? Because button command makes it weaker, also it's advantage compared to the SFIII versions is a lot shittier. I'm thinking you're overestimating how good it is, not to say it isn't but really it's the only thing going for him right now.

Button command makes it stronger because its quicker to master the input and be safe as opposed to taking a risk by stepping forward/embracing a hit. Yes there are some openings through mistiming and a whiff animation, but in reality, it's much easier to master as a button command.

Baiting is a reasonable strategy to beat this so I'll give you that. Perhaps depending on the timing, that is. Haven't touched it yet, so I'll need a opinion on the timing from someone who's a bit more familiar. But most cases of button parrying usually are easier to master as opposed to a directional parry.
 
The button command itself is better, the parry having an animation is worse. It's just a little better than Ryo's parry in KoF, shouldn't be overpowered at all.

The whiffs and bigger recovery time easily make it worse. The command in SFIII was easy, nontraditional but easy. The only thing better about the SFV parry is you can mash it for multihit moves and you don't have to worry about lows, which don't necessarily make it stronger.
 
One of the big advantages his SFV parry has is that you don't have to guess between high or low, it's just one parry for all.

And since it's a button command (with no directional press required) it will also work well in cross up situations, and the like where you might not be certain which side to block on.

These reasons are why I find it extremely problematic, I don't think the whiff animation alone justifies it enough.

I can see an intro player spamming it and easily being punished, but I think it would be a greater problem with a more seasoned player.
