Maybe Laura is actually a younger Urien?
I'm down with that as long as she is wearing the same outfit.

SF5 doesn't have a metagame yet.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecNTcYERWj0
This is just because their familiar with the system right? I mean, I hope Focus attack/Parry won't be missed, because this back n forth, especially the shoto matches look incredibly fluid. I haven't seen this yet in SFV.
5-ish characters a year is a good number, that's basically a revision worth of characters.
What if "Zen" is really Dhalsim? He changes his name and fighting style because, through meditation, he achieves zen.
We're still getting those.I hope they do occasional mechanics updates and changes along with releasing chars...I'm actually gonna miss the archaic capcom revision style if there aren't big changes every once in a while to shake things up.
yeah...the core is great, but I'm wondering where the back n' forth is going to come from? Seems like V-counters are more important than initially realized.SF5 doesn't have a metagame yet.
I mean Capcoms FG team has always been pretty busy.
SF 4 - 2008 - 20 Characters
SF 4 - 2009 - 6 Characters
SSF 4 - 2010 - 10 Characters
AE - 2011 -4 new characters + Development for SF x T
SF X T - 2012 30? New characters
AE 2012
So they do churn out a lot of characters. If SF V is going to be the only FG they are making , they are going to be able to make a lot of characters.
Going by that rate
SF V 2015 - 16 characters
By 2016 we should be having atleast 10 characters out.
I think they might be working on other FG besides SF. It's not Capcom way to solely depend on SF, I would bet they are making smaller entries in other series.
Well SF x T didn't go to well for them. I dont know what they might attempt this gen , or if the FG team is going to get less funding for development but more for Marketting and eSports.
I dont know what else they can try , making an Alpha 4 or a new SF 3 game will be like 1999 all over again.
SF x T 2? Maybe we will finally get that Darkstalkers game they have been teasing.
The blonde characters are all linked to a genetic experiment.

Darkstalkers, I would bet on this only after SF V. It could use the same engine and all.
I doubt we won't see a Capcom vs game this generation. It could be anything from xTK, SNK3, Tatsunoko 2 or something new entirely.
And I guess they were commenting about Rival Schools recently. Though, I think this is much more impossible than the others.
We could see Marvel vs. Capcom 4 by 2018 at the absolute earliest, but that would depend on how big of a hit Street Fighter V ends up being. I would say Capcom All-Stars, but the success of the Vs. games usually depends on what Capcom was paired up with, & clearly the MvC series is the most popular of the Vs. games (followed by Capcom vs. SNK). A 2018 release would line up nicely with Avengers: Infinity War (Part 1), & it's not like Marvel has a lot of big console games lined up anyway, despite them apparently wanting more of said console games to be made. That plus Marvel's recent references to the MvC series (& Marvel giving the MvC Earth an official classification). For now, I think Capcom's full efforts are on Street Fighter V. If the game's huge, maybe they'll get the wheels turning for MvC4 with Sony's financial assistance. But overall, as someone in the Capcom classics thread pointed out, Capcom's been running a tighter ship financially as of late. As such, I don't see them getting another contract going with Marvel unless Capcom can see a good profit coming out of it (& if they can get a deal going that would allow for more long-term support for MvC4).I imagine they are working on a Vs. game, maybe Marvel.
You don't need parries/focus to have footsies. As long as rushdown isn't batshit insane that will just happen naturally because it's the optimal way of playing a game based on the mid range.yeah...the core is great, but I'm wondering where the back n' forth is going to come from? When I asked him about Alex and Urien in SF5 @TheComboFiend gave the best poker face in the world, Peter must have taken acting classes

I know some people in the industry in Japan, admittedly no one at Capcom (but I do know some old heads who are friends with big producers at Capcom), and I don't get the impression that Capcom is interested in any other fighting games aside from SF5. From what I've heard, the team at Capcom dedicated to SF is really, really small and Ono is basically on his own out there. We've seen Konami completely shut out AAA titles in favor of mobile dev, and the fat cats at Capcom are likely looking the same direction. I wouldn't expect Capcom to be working on any other fighting games, big or small, at the moment. Not without some real financial encouragement from Sony, like what's happening with SF5.
This is a common misconception. Street Fighter V would have happened regardless of Sony's financial assistance. All Sony did was speed up the progress. Had it not been for Sony, we would have been waiting until 2018 for Street Fighter V.I know some people in the industry in Japan, admittedly no one at Capcom (but I do know some old heads who are friends with big producers at Capcom), and I don't get the impression that Capcom is interested in any other fighting games aside from SF5. Another common misconception. Marvel has expressed interest in another MvC through their references in their comics (Spider-Verse, Unbeatable Squirrel-Girl, etc.) & cartoons (Ultimate Spider-Man) as of recently. On top of that, Capcom & Disney have worked together recently thanks to DuckTales Remastered (which was such a success that it revived the show), which is still on sale now & was even a PS+ game early this year. The relationship is there, the money (on Capcom's side) isn't. I made a whole thread on the matter late last year. That's why I said that MvC4's likelihood probably depends on the success of Street Fighter V, to show Capcom that the return would be worth the investment.I think Marvel is more difficult now after the Disney acquisition. Then again, I am not sure how their console output is now. I know their mobile games are getting some insane profit though.
Thus, if Marvel isn't available, I think Capcom might search for others to collaborate. Namco would be one of the obvious, even if it's not xTK2. SNK is another I would like to see.
Or finally that Capcom x ASW that I have been waiting for =P

The problem is that Capcom wouldn't have a lot of mainstream franchises to make the game successful. While Capcom All-Stars would be awesome, it wouldn't sell unless Capcom gave the game a lower budget. The MvC games were successful mainly because of the Marvel brand. And like I said, I'm not sure if Capcom sees a renewal of the Marvel contract as a worthwhile investment right now, even if Marvel is open to the idea (which they apparently are).Capcom all-stars, imo.
I would love Marvel 4 because black panther would be in.

I feel like if early negotiations didn't start already, then we would have to wait until 2019 for Marvel 4 if Capcom is seriously considering renewing the deal with Marvel. It would still put MvC4 in line to release next to one of the Infinity War movies (though it'd be Part 2 instead of Part 1). However, Capcom would likely have to consider the backlash from fans since Marvel would likely forbid Capcom from using any X-Men or Fantastic Four charactersI am not well informed of the Marvel situation, so I will believe this. If it's the case, they probably will wait for SFV, to even begin discussing Marvel 4. If negotiations start next year, we could be seeing it in 2018 or 2019, since Marvel films would give it a huge boost.
Capcom all-stars, imo.

All signals were that it was a long while off for a very long time.I wouldn't take that as confirmation that SF5 would have definitely happened in 2018.

You might want to be more specific. This is Ms. Marvel, now. A Muslim Inhuman named Kamala Khan who idolizes Carol Danvers.I'm fine with either one.
Marvel 4 = Black Panther and Ms. Marvel are going to be playable characters. *cross his fingers*
I don't feel like it would stop Capcom. The appeal of the Avengers & the Guardians these days would make up for the lack of X-Men & F4 in the eyes of the average buyer. And while the X-Men are still relevant, they aren't as popular as they used to be (& the Fantastic Four are falling into obscurity thanks to Fox). And Capcom could just as easily transplant the movesets of the cut Fox-related characters to other Marvel-approved characters to salvage what they can of said X-Men & F4 characters.I doubt Capcom would even bother if they couldn't get characters like Wolwerine, Tempest and others that are in every single game until now. Do it right or don't do it at all.
Combofiend has been to Vegas enough times to know how to maintain a poker face.

It would be interesting to see what Capcom's take on another vs game would be now, considering their approach to SFV is minimalism
Vanilla iterations of their fighting games usually start small. Though in the case of Vanilla MvC3, we had 36 characters before UMvC3 expanded that count to 50. So assuming that MvC4 (if it happens) goes with Unreal Engine 4, Capcom could have the experience to bring us more characters from the start. Though I'm pretty sure Capcom would retain the DLC distribution method of SFV thanks to all of the positive buzz that it generated.

If even Wolverine & Deadpool are off-limits to all game makers (after the release of Contest of Champions), I don't think Marvel would let any X-Men or F4 characters in MvC4 if it happens anytime soon.I wouldn't jump into conclusion about that right now. It's possible that they could let few of those characters stay in the game.

However, I'm not sure if you guys would like the Marvel side of a potential MvC4, especially in light of recent corporate-related events. That being said, you would likely get Black Panther. But it would probably be at the cost of Wolverine.
But even then they'd have to give the game a lower budget since it probably wouldn't sell as well. With Marvel, even the big red logo alone is enough to print money. But like I said before, Street Fighter V's success will be what determines the likelihood of MvC4.Capcom All-Stars lower budget would come from the fact that they wouldn't need nearly as many lawyers and licensing fees.
Capcom all-stars, imo.

MvC3 was already pretty simple. Dont think they can dumb it down even more. Maybe just remove/improve on certain mechanics.
I hope it's Marvel just because it would be successful so we'd probably get a update but if it was any other property I'd want Shonen Jump Vs. Capcom. The Jump games made it to the West so licensing doesn't seem impossible.
I really need a Jotaro and Kenshiro Team Hyper Combo.

That's what I was thinking. MvC4 would be the only Vs. game that'd be guaranteed to be successful enough for continued support. This is assuming that Capcom doesn't fuck up the negotiations to where they get the short end of the stick as far as long-term support goes.I hope it's Marvel just because it would be successful so we'd probably get a update but if it was any other property I'd want Shonen Jump Vs. Capcom would care, sure. But Marvel wouldn't, as they mainly care about promoting the franchises that they'd make the most money from.I could understand that but for Marvel Vs. Capcom, It's a old franchise with a lot of characters that players have attachments to. Capcom understand that too, so I could see them fighting for those characters' inclusions, like they did with Sentinel (correct me if I'm wrong)
I guess it's something that we wouldn't agree on until we would see for ourselves in person when we will find out the full roster for MVC4.
