Honestly why are you so upset that Urien and Alex are in? This series is more than just SF2, and these characters deserve their time to shine, especially for the new generation of SF players who haven't experienced them.
I'll say this, I don't know who is on the roster. I think it is Alex and Urien for the remaining returners, but I'll be happy for whatever roster Capcom gives us. The fun thing in speculation is thinking up how returning characters will work in a new game and whomever it is, I want to see how they do work.
Yeah, no. Sorry. It's not a 5-5 at all. It's probably his third worst matchup after Oro. Ryu isn't a 5-5 either, more like 6-4.
Nah, he's right. If Alex and Urien were DLC characters they'd have been leaked as being so.
The biggest thing he's right about is that players don't react well to being told their $60 game is incomplete on day one. I'm sure they have new characters planned out for DLC, and they may even be already working on them. But they aren't selling a full game and then telling everyone on day one that they need another $10 to get ALL the characters.

Swerve being I'm pretty sure Dahlgren knows what's really being asked with that question, as I'm certain he's familiar with the Siliconera leak, and knows why the phrasing in the question was chosen as it was.
So I'm saying it's a possibility that he's so free with that answer because he knows people will consider it confirmation-without-confirmation... but because of the obfuscation in place, it could be confirmation of nothing other than the fact he personally considers them classic characters.
Hence, if the two classic characters are announced, and they aren't Alex and Urien, that answer will have been the set-up to a swerve.

I really dont get this revisionist theory where fking SF Alpha is considered a fking spinoff. Like what? It set the base story for the entire franchise. Retconned tons of shit from SF 2 and made some kind of coherent plot.

I'd prefer 3S vets but can't be mad either way. Already have two characters in that I'm going to dump a ton of time into and I'd play a lot of Alex or Gief as well.
I'm super pleased with what's been announced so far and things are likely to get even better for me either way. ¯\_(ツ

_/¯Kind of. Basically parrying/whiff punishing bad moves, and getting the max punish, preferably scoring a knockdown and getting even more damage on the oki, and if the meter allows then yeah boomerang raid. There's more to it but I think that's the gist of it.
Actually reads are also really important to getting in. Successfully landing elbows and bombs. Beyond being only reactive.

How many stages do you guys think will be there in total? 5 have been revealed thus far. There are only 4 more reveals and Laura will likely be revealed alongside the Brazilian stage.
Would be nice if we had like 10 stages. I like what they've shown so far. Especially the Kanzuki estate.

I feel like we'll get Gill eventually, be it as a secret boss or as DLC. But the Siliconera leak pretty much told us that our Illuminati rep in the base roster will be Urien.
Not much, just speculation. Though we did find out that Matt Dhalgren does consider Alex & Urien to be classic Street Fighter characters.

Yeah, no. Oro is probably the worst, then Chun (or vice-versa, depending on who you ask). Yun and Yang are much worse than Ken, too, as is Makoto/Makneto. I would even say Hugo is harder than Ken because his command grabs and normals are just flat out better than Alex's.
As for Ken, outside of his million ways to land Shippu, there isn't a whole lot he does that is a major threat.

That's not the reason I was talking about. "That box is for numbered series characters except for the one" is arbitrary.
One, that's not what he was saying, and two all of the characters are free.
I hope they are in, but I'm annoyed that people are getting everyone's hopes up when it's unlikely those two characters are in.

Nothing official since Karin. A Gaffer asked Matt (Dahlgren, I'm assuming) if they consider Alex and Urien classic characters, and he said yes. The Life and Death(s) of Charlie Nash comic from SDCC was released digitally recently, but people spilled the beans about the content (Illuminati) long ago.

If you mean the boxes, the purple seems to be Alpha. All the characters in it are playable only in the alpha games. Capcom comptely ignores the first SF game anyway so the green being mainline games still applies. The game also will have at least one character from 3 for story reasons if all the promotional and side material is to be believed.

It's a spin-off/sub-series. It's not a mainline game. It's the Prometheus to SF2,3 and 4's Alien(s)
Edt: If it goes by when first playable yhen the green is still the main series with Ryu and Ken for SF1 and the rest from 2. It's similar to how the characters are arranged on the Super SF4 screen.

By first playable, not first appearance. Sagat is with the rest of the four kings on the Super SF4 screen and Adon is with the Alpha characters despite them first appearing in 1.
