I mean, hate is just a strong word to throw around. I can't imagine that the majority of people feel that way. There's a general feeling of disappointment, surely.

Lol, case in point. Disappointment it is.

I think I'm not even dissappointed... I don't know how I feel... maybe I feel like the "Creed" movie: "Is this a Rocky movie? Is this a spin off but with Rocky in it? I don't know".

Right, but when the game emphasizes letting the player approach a situation however they please, you can see why a fight that is made 1000% more difficult for players who have invested in nonlethal weaponry might be a cause of annoyance for some.

First time I did one of those missions I just used the cheapest heavy machine gun I could get since all my other weapons were non-lethal and it was more than enough. I really don't get how some people can struggle that much. I am one of those guys that use stealth as much as possible and kill extremely rarely.

Eh... I'm trying the Brennan and they just hide in the airport.

I got the last guy down to 10% health and died from full health to a bomb I never heard or saw which spawned behind me, and I was constantly on the move so that wasn't the problem. Fucking hate this fight.

I know what the difference between me and others here is regarding difficulty - it's that I never get the parry right, so if they jump at me that's pretty much a guaranteed death. But man, it makes it frustrating.

person? ;p you sure you're at the right one?

doors could be locked if you're still stuck during an alarm.... thought they still open but that could be another reason...

I'm pretty sure I'm found the right building I look through the roof window and hear phrases "finish the mission" "prove your loyalty" etc

some of the few missions that really pigeonhole you're approach unlock alongside others though, like that tank commander one around 8 or 9... there's like 3 missions they all unlock together

so, if you're upgrading your items strategically and actually conserving GMP, and listening to all mission briefing tapes before hand, the game sort of promotes planning ahead with your upgrades... I sort of like that it catches you with your pants down if you go into missions unprepared and wasted all your GMP
I'm pretty sure I'm found the right building I look through the roof window and hear phrases "finish the mission" "prove your loyalty" etc
maybe a different door? i think there is one on each side. it's different than Hal's one, right? it's the center one, not the left (north west) one. but yeah.. i think i even had a light 'searching' alarm when it opened for me, so I don't remember it being all that sensitive to how or when it unlocks.

They can't see you go in or else they'll be inside instead of patrolling outside. And even if they're inside, concentrate on one at a time. Never stay in one place cause those rocks will one shot you.
Stick with the Brennan and bring c4. C4 works really well if you set up a trap.
Concerning the parry, listen for the last teleport, that's your sign it's coming .

And if you're not already, use the battle dress and the headband. Anytime you're hurt, to quote Kaz.., "get the fuck out of there"

the parry is actually super easy once you recognize the animation... spend 1-2 tries dying and practicing it, there's a huge window to do it. when you see them doing the phase jump, just relax, sit there, and wait for it... you'll nail the parry every time

i actually found the extreme version of it pretty easy because it's a fight that, once you learn it, it doesn't really matter if it's 2x as long or everyone has 2x the damage, 2x the hp... it's still the same process.

i got my ass kicked what felt like 30 times in a row doing the regular version lol but then once i finally beat it, i re-did 3 times and beat it all 3 times in a row because i was finding it so fun :D (great action and music)

so the extreme is basically the same... i basically just use rockets and parries, and nothing else, and once you learn the patterns of their attacks, they're pretty reliable to avoid.

also, use heavy armor. it'll give you a little bit of a margin of error, you can take any hit and survive, and then just kite behind the hangar (or hope on D-Walker, and strafe -- go sideways, no forward or they fuck you) until you regen
Has anybody found a way to extract the containers in the airport hangar?

Are they just there to annoy everyone?
wormhole extraction device that you build later on

MGS6 concept:
Parasites and nanomachines battle it out in Old Snake's body. The body is a battlefield! Tactical Bodily Movements. The game is officially branded Metal Gear Solid Sechs. Code Talker is somehow still around and narrates the game.

so what is the best strat to take out all 4 Skulls in Extreme Code talker mission? I do not have quiet anylonger. I need to do a task list item and it wont happen unless all 4 sniper skulls are gone.

Finished mission 45, I guess I got lucky and got a sandstorm eight before the attack chopper comes in. I ran around and fultoned like 5 vehicles. Just had to take down the heli and aa tank after that.

Quiet had a great ending. I still am confused by the disappointment in this game. Sure, its "unfinished" but its pretty clear how they had bigger plans but konami realized what they were spending on the game and ordered it finished asap.

What the game is is incredibly impressive and I think the story works well as another side story. I think the twist is great if a bit predictable.

This game was never going to be complete or "finished" since konami's urge to burn the studio to the ground. That's the reality of it. There's no point getting worked up over it or calling the game garbage or disappointing.

I can tell what I did, which was relatively easy. You don't even need a suppressor but you do need the Brennan rifle.
As soon as they spawn, carefully crawl waaaay back. About 70 meters. There should be a spot where you can crawl the right of the cliff and to the left without worrying about being spotted. Head shot one, and switch sides. You'll kill 2 this way. If one tries to ambush you, that's good because you'll get a close shot at it.
Once two are eliminated, move slowly forward until you see their sniper lazier sights. Then move back again until you find a spot you can switch the attack from left to right. The last one will drag the fight into the woods. You'll need ddog for her.
If this doesn't help, I'll make a video tomorrow. I've been looking for excuses to replay the game.

So everyone hates this game now? Figures.

Definitely don't hate it. I like it...put a good 100 hours into it.

But it's annoying to see the big name press throwing perfect scores at it because they were seduced in Konami's "boot camp". If they had an ample amount of time to experience it comfortably without being rushed, I'm sure that blind hype would have disappeared and allowed for a more unbiased look at the game.

Again, it's a great game, but overrated and incomplete. You can tell that it wasn't meant to end there... "Chapter 2" is one of the biggest jokes I've ever seen in a game.

So, in your mind, any time a game has troubled development we can't crititique it? Games get a free pass?

You may not find the game disappointing, but plenty of us do. I don't see how that's confusing. Stepping back and examining the game shows that there's plenty to be disappointed in. And no, not just story alone.

I don't think "seduced" is the right word. The poor review environment just worked against them having proper time to digest the content. If anything, it's likely that the meme of "poor Kojima" and "F*** Konami" seduced them more.

Stealth camoflage and/or fire support sandstorm. This applies for every single side task you may have trouble with.

If you have the cluster rocket launcher or high penetration sniper just run on top of the hangar and kill them. Takes a couple of minutes.

Yes, they get confused and never phase or jump up there. Near the edges, maybe, but never on the rounded parts.

I think if you are a die hard mgs fan you will be dissapointed with the story. But if you're an mgs fan who has come to grips with the fact that mgs story has been terrible for a while and you had little expectations, you'll still be dissapointed for the simple fact that the story is unfinished. It's the most fun metal gear game to play, it's a great game. The nature of this thread is one dependant on story and since we all know the story is shit, it dictates the negative course of this thread imo.

You're talking about the actual mission Code Talker, so ignoring the guys above who are thinking of the wrong mission:

Considering the skulls are one-shot kills for you, staying inside an armored vehicle is paramount so you don't instantly lose. I did it in the African tank, aka the one with more armor, because even a tank can be blown up if you take too many shots. I positioned myself so only one skull could fire on me and I could still fire on them. It took awhile, but you can eliminate them all with one tank, and it's perfectly safe. If you're feeling like one tank might not be enough and you may need to swap for a fresh one, I recommend the parasite suit with armor, as that will save you from dying in one hit as you climb in your new vehicle. Tested it myself.

You need to extract the armored vehicle that only spawns if you beat all four skulls, right? That was one of my last side objectives as well.

You have the option of killing quiet when you first meet and in turn can play the game without her right? What happens in the cutscene where snake destroys the language parasite vials. Does snake still ask about the third vial? And in that case does skullface still say "close". Are cutscenes altered to reflect her absence? her absence? Or is playing without Quiet not an option?

There seems to be a cooldown between the time you finish firing a weapon and the time you can do a parry. What that means is that you should stop firing and get ready to parry if you see that a skull is moving towards you. After that it's just a matter of learning the timing, You should hit the button as soon as it appears on screen.

I just don't see the sense in complaining about a game with such a large amount of content that is so well done.

"Unfinished" makes it sound like everyone isn't getting 40+ hours of fun out of it.

It doesn't get a free pass but how many games have as much to do that is as well polished as this does? How much more do they need to provide for $60?

That definitely had an impact too I believe. A big one.

I'm using the word "seduced" because "boot camp" events are not a typical norm that occurs for these reviewers. I don't know what really happened out there but I know that if I was in their shoes and had the opportunity to fly out to L.A all compensated to play one of the most crucial games of the year (almost like a free, paid off vacation), my good mood would get the better of me.

Hours mean nothing with a huge chunk of it is padded hours. A lot of us just wanted to beat the game to finish Kojima's last MGS no matter how bad it was.

this works in africa? Stealth doesnt work on extreme and doubt sandstorms come to africa.

Hmm. this one seems interesting. Yea this is the mission and task list item i need. I tried with a tank before and still lost. I may need to try this method. Will report back after an attempt.

For Code Talker Extreme, I just drove the jeep all the way up the river, climbed up the cracks up to the top and sniped them all with the Brennan, they only take two headshots with it.

They can't get behind you from there and you always have the high ground. The last one kept trying to rush me but her attacks were pretty easy to avoid.

Also brought DD for marking.

A finished game that delivers on the pre-release claims would be a good start. ¯|_(ツ)_|¯

I like to walk away from games with a sense of fulfillment or completion or finality. Not disappointment and the thoughts of "What the hell was that?" and "What else could this game have been?"

That's fair about the boot camps. I guess I would have to hope that the reviewers have gone to enough of these that the effect has worn off a bit. But it very well might not have.

From what I've played it is exactly the same.

My bad are you trying to kill them for the task and or going for the s rank? If you just want a S rank just get a tank and drive it through the jungle and jump out once you get to the jungle. I would recommend doing the mission that way first for the S rank then to complete the task just use stealth camo and a suppressed sniper. They'll never see you.

Edit:

All methods involve a varying amount of cheese so sorry if you want a legit tactic :P

This is all bullshit to me. "Padding" is assassins Creed style run around and collect the treasure chests, mindless tasks that add nothing to the gameplay.

The side ops and objectives encourage different ways to replay the missions. I am going to be playing this game for a long time. I know I can just open the game and run a few side ops or try to s rank a mission and put it away for the next year or so.

I just think a lot of people want the game to be something it isn't and wasn't designed to be.

Mgs has always had a dumb but fun story. I don't see anything in this being dumber than a man who controls crows and the crows eat him when he dies, or a obese man on Rollerblades drinking wine, or a man who controls bees and shoots bees at you from his mouth, or a soldier who can't stop shifting his pants.

i don't know how the rest of you guys feel, but i'd pay dlc money to get quiet back. jackshephard.jpg
Yeah, kind of. LOL.

But seriously though, removing Quiet from the game (with no way to get her back) is really dumb. Why Kojima? Why would you want to hurt the replayability of your own game like that? So stupid...

Because sometimes you don't get people back. And it her exit wouldn't mean shit if she was still there for gameplay
It doesn't mean anything to me besides "fuck, now I have less gameplay options" when I replay levels. It's not sad, or touching, or anything, just annoying.

It dawned on me that there is a story moment where Venom does uses the Phantom Cigar.

It's when he brings the child soldiers back, right after that terribly broken mission that's easier if you just say fuck it, and bring in air support.

For some reason, he gets out the phantom cigar after the cutscene, and smokes for a couple hours.

You ever wonder how weird that looks to the soldiers?

Fanatic Crab-"Oh shit, it's the boss! I hope he beats me up! That's always so motiv-why isn't he moving?..."

*30 minutes pass*

"...should...should I go get someone?"

Quiet leaving made me finally realize how incredibly useful d-dog is. IMO he's much better at scouting. Quiet was great at helping you put everyone at a camp to sleep but losing her is no deal-breaker to me.

MGSV is a game I'm never going to restart. I'll play through the missions again, of course, but starting from scratch after all that effort I put into building up Mother Base? Not a chance. So, knowing that I can lose Quiet for good, with the only way to get her back being to start all over again... well, I'm just never going to do that. Butterfly Emblem stays on permanently. I watched her ending on Youtube; that's good enough for me.

Yeah, DD is definitely the best buddy. I already knew that before Quiet left though.

I wish I had known about the butterfly emblem trick before she left. Media blackout backfire I guess, LOL.

I feel like originally you were going to be allowed to take more than one partner for a mission.

I should always have the option of calling D-Horse to me immediately. The amount of time it takes to switch partners is painful at times, especially on missions where time is a factor.

D.Horse should count as a vehicle, not a Buddy. Even with his tactical pooping, he's so much less useful than the other Buddies.
