Lol Urien and Gil are definitely Greek or at least Mesopotamian

So we have a Character Reveal in Mexico coming next and Urien's stage is Mexico, plus the Siliconera leak saying Urien is coming.
Laura is at Brazil and Alex to be at NYCC as we gathered before.
At this rate I expect Zen at PGW.

Urien stage in second impact is Egypt, lol stupid. These are places with Illuminati ties

Don't forget all the Judeo-Christian references. Basically, they put a bunch of religious imagery in a blender.

But really, they're all from the WWF...

Urien's design draws on his relationship to Gill: if Gill can be compared to Jesus Christ, Urien can be considered Judas Iscariot, whom his title even references.

Like Gill, Urien shares a few inspirations with him, being based on Yuda from Fist of the North Star and the Pillar Men from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Urien's own design however, bears resemblance to the antagonist Replicant Roy Batty from Blade Runner fame, the crazed technocratic ruler Trevor Goodchild of the animated series Æon Flux, and famous WWF wrestler Ric Flair; furthermore, his enjoyment of suits, the culturally memetically famous quotes of Crush, Kill, Destroy!, and megalomaniacal desire of ruling with an iron fist may refer to the concept of "The Man", the derogatory societal term of "The System", and how those that follow it in this context are also derogatorily referred to as "robots".
His Roman based attacks and imagery also invokes the familiarity to the infamous Roman Emperor Caligula; not only given names potentially rife for ridicule, but also to their emotional instability, as Caligula grew to be known as an insane, scandalous, indulgent and abusive tyrant to his peers and the populace, claiming himself as the incarnation of Jupiter to having at one point forcibly thrown a section of a crowd into a pit of carnivorous animals for his amusement. On a minor note, Roman statues were often colored than the common thought of them being plainly white, as the Romans saw the plain marble as the statues being tastelessly lifeless, while Roman political culture often percieves insanity as one aspect of poor government.

Their similarities can be seen in many of Urien's own aspects; in accordance with with Roy Batty, they share their renegade agenda against the world and jealously towards a superior individual with some relation, with Trevor Goodchild, they both engage in extremely bizarre but highly influential ventures and occurrences that venture into the unknown, all unaware to the mass public with various degrees of far reaching consequences, and with Ric Flair, he is greatly based upon his quiet but sudden heel turn of 1994, and both of Ric's on stage personas of the Nature Boy and The Man. This is further exemplified with his then rivalry with Hulk Hogan, to which Alex is also greatly based off of, and the events of the episode of the Bash at The Beach of the famous 1990's TV show Baywatch regarding the WWF event of the same name in 1994; alluding to the Illuminati's agenda of gaining capital, Hogan and Macho Man challenge a maniacal and greedy villainous Ric Flair and his cronies, including Big Van Vader, who threatens to tear down a boy's youth center influential and cherished to Hogan in his in story youth nearby in Venice Beach to make way for an exclusive vast high class condominium community. Finally, Ric was famous in ring for using a falling knee drop and a piledriver as finishers for the pin in his matches.

It's all a work.

Akiman was influenced most by Greek Olympic athletics when designing Gil and Urien, this is also true of there fighting style. Additionally the Illuminati are mostly tied with Egyptian and GREEK civilizations. Let's stop trying to change what they are. I already had the Urien, Judas discussion. Not even gonna do it bruh.

Yet it's set in Mexico because the Aztec have ties to the Illuminati, and that'll likely come forth with Necalli.

Okay, Necalli means Battle in Aztec. Matt says they wanted an Aztec warrior. His clothes relate to the Aztecs. What more do you want? That's like saying Urien and Gill aren't Greek because they have stages in Egypt and in Urien's case, also has Mexico as his stage. The fact is that ancient Greeks, for a brief period, wore thongs when competing in athletics and their fighting style resembles pankration along with Pillar men influences.

BTW, his stage isn't New Zealand. They never said so. New Zealand is associated with Illuminati, but we don't know if Necalli is associated with the Illuminati. We won't know until they tell us. In the blog, they never said that place was New Zealand, just that it was inspired by New Zealand. Two can play that game breh.

Word this shit is kinda of offensive. Matt, "We want an Aztec warrior". Like what more do you want, his name is Aztec. Fuck off with that shit. They're not saying it because the civilization doesn't exist any more and there's likely some story mode reason as to why he's here. Don't try and take away a mesoamerican character, thanks. We know where Necalli is from, thanks.

What about Ric Flair and Big Bad Vader? Don't deny their place in history. And Gill calls himself the messiah and sprouts angel wings. They're full service proto-deities/wrestlers. Everybody in the pool.
I agree with you about them being primarily Greek inspired. The thongs are undeniable.

I don't want them to take it away at all, I want them to embrace it.

I'm just hoping once we know more about the story that the game mirrors what Matt is saying.

That "Urien is Greek" evidence is pretty thin, man. "Influenced most by Greek Olympic athletics" is really common for males in fiction and how are the Illuminati Egyptian and Greek?

Brasil/Brazil Game Show is in 10 days' time, it is during that week I see us getting a character reveal.

EGS which takes place in Mexico starts in 5 days time on Friday. Could we get a character reveal then? Depends on what ono tweets ;) nON THE less I don't think we'll get a reveal during EGS, regardless of the nationality of the character.

I think there's a decent chance we'll get a character reveal in Mexico but I think the chance is lower than the other two upcoming events (NYC and Brazil).

All things considered I think we have the biggest chance of getting Urien there per his stage in the older game, however realistically speaking that's a pretty loose link and it really could be anyone.

Knowing Ono we'll at least know if we're getting a character going in, although he'll be intentionally misleading us with the screenshot I'm sure.

Urien is not from Mexico, nor is Gill from Mexico either.
You merely fought Urien at historical locations in 2I and 3S.

Translations of official character bios from Capcom don't state their native place or nationality, and even that one is speculative between Greece or Egypt.

Personally their nationalities don't mean ANYTHING at all.

Urien does have a Greco-Roman-esque moveset though. Potentially inspired by Pankration, an ancient Greco-Roman martial arts; Aegis reflector, like Athena's aegis shield; Chariot tackle, chariot!?; and the electrical moves seem to be analogues to Zeus/Jupiter. Also looking like a Greek Adonis helps.

Not saying he is, but he's definitely inspired by the Greco-Romans. Now if only his neutral stance was in contrapposto, it'd be a stronger argument.

But bringing it back to T. Hawk, he's Native American, and they list his nationality as Mexican. It's most likely a case of just throwing things together they like without having to tie it down to a specific region. They did the exact same thing with M. Bison..

Aztecs are from modern day Mexico. Nationality is just your country of origin, not your ethnicity. Like if Capcom made an Ainu character, his nationality would still be Japanese.

From yesterday:
Inside info:

-There will be another character reveal before Brazil (So before October 10th)
-There will be around 10 characters in the 2nd Beta (So maybe Rashid, maybe not)

So we'll have two character reveals in the next two weeks!

I just want to clarify that I never stated Urien was Mexican, only that his last stage was in Mexico and something in Mexico is happening on Friday.

Pretty much same here. Since his stage was in Mexico I said they might show him there based on that. I don't know where he is from but I'm pretty sure it's not Mexico.

Ono usually teases "preparation for new announcement/information" for events and conventions, and for EGS, he tweeted "preparation for autograph session".

At most, we will get a new stage tease, nevermind a new character. And for the Fuerte fans out there, give up your dreams.

Urien and Gill have no known origin. It wouldn't really make sense to give them origins, since they're the leaders of a 2000+ year old world spaning, secret organisation. An organization that they were born into and raised by. You can say that they're based on the Pillar Men, but the Pillar Men came from South America; You can say that Urien is based on ancient Greek culture, but Gill, his brother, is based on the messiah. Either way, 3 takes place in the late 90s and doesn't have blatant stereotypes, so why would ancient Greece tie them to modern Greece.

Also, I'm sticking with Necalli being the original (or one of the) Illuminati emperor, who reincarnated as Gill.

Am I the only one thinking that this is going too fast ?

If we have reveals in Mexico, Brazil and NYCC, how many characters reveals are going to be left ?

Either one of theses events won't have a character reveal or Capcom is making things faster and may talk about DLC earlier than planned. Or they would like to make an experiment to see how many months we can go without any reveals and see the madness.

Agreed. Necalli's stage if anything. Maybe a temple.

I assume so as well, that Necalli will inhabit a (shared) stage that features a temple.

isn't there stage sharing in this game, could Urien and Necalli share the Mexico stage or whatever the equivalent is?

I'm going with Bison and Necalli actually. Both of their character art pics arguably feature the same temple, in Bison's case hidden in front of the moon it seems.

Edit: Here art the pics agin for convenience. In Necalli's art the temple is obvious, in Bison's it's more hidden. I do think both are the same temple though because of the domed roof.

Bison was in front of a statue of himself.

I wish they would use non-rendered artwork for these characters. What they are doing right now just doesn't look good to me. Akiman would have been a great choice.
