Miller was a drill instructor. He participated in Solid Snake's training at FOXHOUND, that's how the two know each other.

Campbell gets Miller in as a consultant during MG2 as a "Hey, Snake, you know this guy".

You should have been able to press triangle to "Kept you waitin', Haah" just like with Kaz early in the game.

Metal Gear 2 User Manual, check Miller's bio. Focus on the word "recently" and the fact that game happens in 1999, 4 years after Big Boss deserted from FOXHOUND following Outer Heaven. There is also the wiki and the game itself, since Miller is never mentioned in Metal Gear.

Instead of Huey being exiled there should have been a mission with him escaping like Iron Man, and Diamond Dogs trying to stop him.

"You think I'd just stop a cyborg legs?"

"When he served as a drill sergeant in the FOX HOUND, he was referred to as a 'Hell Master' and draftees called him "Master Miller" with respect."

"Hired by Campbell as survival consultant for FOXHOUND"

He worked at FOXHOUND prior to be hired by Campbell, and Big Boss ran FOXHOUND before then.

This would be amazing.

Like Huey develops super-legs that can run on water, and there's a boss battle in a boat.

KAZ: "Sink that piece of shit"

HUEY: "You'll never take me alive!

Or maybe he gets in his underwear and attacks mother base with Battle Gear.

That way we could at least see it!

It's crazy how Diamond Dogs soldiers just let Huey wander around and do whatever he wants, especially in a situation where he should under no circumstances be allowed to walk off the plane unsupervised, get behind Miller and Snake, and pick up a sawed-off shotgun without a single person noticing.

Have we considered the possibility that the Diamond Dogs are just garbage soldiers

I assume everyone just relaxes when Big Boss is around.

Whatever happens, Big Boss will CQC them out of trouble.

This would explain why the soldiers just aimlessly wander around, talking about puppy paw pads and who's more attractive, Kaz or Ocelot (actual female soldier conversation I overheard)

I still have to question Campbell's rationale hiring Miller.

Nothing bad happens, but Campbell is taking over the job of a guy who built a military nation, and then goes and hires the very same guy who helped BB build a military nation...twice?

Except for his first meeting with Quiet, where his gameplan was "Okay I'm going to jump on her and then throw things and then everything will work out."

She will go on to steal Big Boss-senpai's attention from Miller!

e:somehow I thought we were still talking about Miller.

Look, throwing things at Quiet worked. Can't argue with results.

The entire story of Metal Gear falls apart if you assume anyone has been doing any background checks.

Someone said BB didn't use CQC there because it would've made it too obvious who he was.

Doesn't explain how all the other BB-like behavior (like "running interference" by throwing the magazine) wouldn't raise suspicion.

Maybe he figures Miller changed his ways and has insights into how BB works

No one knows who Miller is outside of Mother Base. It's all "one eyed man" this or "Big Boss" that. You never hear anyone talking about Kaz in hushed tones

He threw the suppressor. Which is weird, cause he should have throw anything else.

Campbell: So I can't help but notice you look identical to Benedict "Kazuhira" Miller, the co-founder of two known terrorist organizations.

Miller: No, that's my brother. I'm McDonnell Miller.

Campbell: Good enough for me.

Miller: Also call me Kaz.

Campbell: Odd request, but sure.

He does try to use CQC. You can see him go for the CQC grab, but Quiet throws him off.

I wish we got to see more of regular badass Quiet. She was deflecting thrown knives with her arms like a boss.

But then Kojima got to her and made her caress her breasts with rain.

McDonnell was a pseudonym Kaz used when operating his chain of burger restuarants, 'McDonnell's'.

Campbell shouldn't have been tricked so easily, but he was probably busy banging his brother's wife.

I wish we got more skins besides the ones we'll get in the DLC. I would have enjoyed being "patient" Snake with a limited bionic arm and bring very frail.

They hire Psycho Mantis into Foxhound, an american military organization. You know, the russian kid trained by the KGB. Surely we can leave a military base with nukes in his capable non commie hands.

Ah, good catch. My bad.

And yeah, Quiet is pretty badass in the opening. Wasn't she also on fire when she deflected the knife? She gets roasted like twice.

Big Boss ran FOXHOUND up until 1995, that's 4 years before MG2. Plenty of time for Miller to be around. You'll need to fetch some hard evidence to convince me Miller worked in FOXHOUND while Big Boss was head of it. Because as things stand MGSV makes perfect sense.

Whatever Kojima does next, I really, really hope he has a co-writer that says no to him.

I wonder what The Boss would have been like if Kojima were without Fukushima completely.

Is it ever explained where the McDonnell comes from in PW or V?

Campbell is such a dope. This is just as believable as as everything he does in "Last days of Foxhound". Still, he's the best CO, never made a tyrannical world government, never decided to make a warmongering army state, never played anyone like a damn fiddle (Snake was too smart in 1, and Campbell was too dumb to hide any deception lol). Even AI Campbell is amusingly weird and quirky at times.

You just know Miller eventually tries to convince Campbell of privatizing Foxhound.

"you know what we really need? being able to sell our services to the the highest bidder"

"also, a base on the sea".

He and Snake are in the dark until MGS2 comes around. You effectively play for the "bad guys" in MG2 and MGS.

He trained Solid Snake. He was Snake's drill sergeant, 'Master' Miller. Solid Snake left FOXHOUND after 1995, and only returned for the Zanzibar Land incident in 1999, so he couldn't have been trained by Miller during that period, so it must have been before.

Ehh. Zanzibarland had some pretty terrible things going on. Big Boss needed to be stopped.

We just have no idea how he got to the point where "child soldiers and nuclear weapons yolo" was a viable plan for him.

Can we all take a moment the praise the vocal continuity that Robin Atkin Downes brings to Miller.

I get a buzz out of him sounding quite similar to how he sounds in MGS1 when Liquid is impersonating him.

He did a great Liquid impersonation in GZ's Deja Vu mission

He fooled his daughter into hating him pretty well in MGS4.

Does anybody know what the fuck happened to him? Did he leave the industry?

I was always a fan of that.

Well...81% done and I can't get myself to go forward, since thats S ranking the rest and such a time sink for time I don't really have, but still, I crave so much more metal gear, hopefully the online gives me so fun times

I'm trying to find that reference to Miller training Snake and can't find it. I'll look into MGS codec conversations next. Maybe I'll find something.
