Solid Snake was always genuine. He might not be breaking down with a gun in his mouth like in MGS4 but hes always been open with how he feels.

He's far more rational then, perhaps a better way to put it. Naked Snake comes across as a "Nice Guy".

Though your list has rung a bell in my head. The scene in MGS2 with Otacon and Snake's bro handshake.

MGSV is actually based on
Venom
Kojima's life story. He replaced the real Kojima sometime after MGS3 was made, while the real one went into hiding.

It's not really the Japanese culture to be in the spotlight. Kojima is different because he's in love with western culture and he seems to love being a "rock star"

missing her scenes was a true tragedy since once you lose her, you can't even try getting them after the true ending. i missed the shower scene but saw the rain scene. they're hilarious and great. Kojima was super trolling.

while I appreciate the other scenes, the rain scene was not trolling, that was fanservice, and as much as I love this game, it was one of the (if not THE) most deliberatively sexualized scenes in MG

EDIT: I'm sorry, but I really hate that scene, the character is great

They're uncomfortable and tasteless. Why would a game director sacrifice integrity for a troll such as that? That's not even trolling. That's being creepy.

I gotta admit I started to care less about the story after quiet appeared in the game. The way they handled her character was embarrassing. I looked at where I stopped listening to tapes and it was right around when I got her as a buddy. That and the pacing of the game was completely awful.
 
what i don't get is that venom is supposed to be the player, but snake kills venom. isn't snake supposed to be kojima?

that means kojima is literally killing the fans for impersonating big boss.

wow so deep kojima, never thought of it like that before.

or maybe Konami was Venom and Kojima was real BB. Outer Heaven is the MGS series where Kojima wants you to know that he's the real mastermind and Konami are frauds.

Oh man I got it guys! Venom is Fukushima while Big Boss is Kojima. Everything Fukushima did was credited to Kojima. He help build up Kojima's legacy then vanished after MGS3 like Venom did after MG1.

Yeah, so very memorable.

The moment when she was forced to speak to save BB was so tense and then the whole ending sequence really got me. Loved it.

it's a lot of fun to go back and replay a lot of the earlier missions with a downgraded M2000 hunting rifle but S rank guards everywhere that have basically insta-homing mortars and can throw grenades twice as far as Venom

either that or basically treat other missions as Total Stealth or Subsistence with Markers turned off


been trying a few Missions with Markers on again and it's like using the chicken hat... so easy. happy i never beat the game with them on because they basically trivialize the gameplay.

Kojima is skull face. His master changed, he changed too. THen he fought back and made MGSV...? This is a poorly thought out metacommentary

So the general consensus seems to be that last Metal Gear Solid game came out 7 years ago, and the last good Metal Gear Solid game came out 11 years ago?

I read this theory, I'll spare the details of it because it was dumb as fuck. But the most interesting part of it was that Huey was an analog for Kojima as he is wearing Kojimas glasses, so you can infer that Huey views the Diamond Dogs through the eyes of Kojima. His being exiled by Diamond Dogs and his disdain for nuclear proliferation whether it be by deterrence or offense....though in the past he has reluctantly done his duty.
 
A Kojima less Metal can definitely work, it just depends on the studio. But seeing how Konami hadn't hit a home run with a AAA Silent Hill, Contra, or Castlevania in the last 5-10 years, it doesn't look hopeful
