I wonder if someday we'll have good enough AI to create a virtual world that feels truly alive and dynamic. I'd imagine that'd open up a lot of gameplay possibilities and immersion. Or I guess we could just keep upgrading graphics and resolution, whatever.

I'm not really sure what compelled me to post this. Just in case this is not completely off-topic: lust for who why are we revenge just to parasites burgers Fukushima best waifu.

Even the whole "misinterpreting the boss's will" idea (that I think was introduced to the story after MGS3, right?) implies that what he did was for her (or at least because of her). Even if it was a misunderstanding, what drove him (no matter how warped his ideology became towards the end) was The Boss. The epilogue of MGS4 heavily suggests this as well, but then PW comes along and introduces the idea that he actually rejected her pretty early on. No matter how I see it, it just lessens the impact of MGS3.

Well it was spelled out that way in MGS4, but the implication is still there that that's what had to have happened. After all, what the Boss wanted was not what BB ended up doing by the time MG1 and 2 roll around.

No. It's a joke, although I have no idea where it came from.
Guy starts a thread "What are great examples of games where people say the title of the game" and the OP cites his example as "You know Ellie, we really are The Last of Us." Which of course is never said.

IIRC the OP was trying to make a game where people would make up lines in games to implement the titles in, but he was misunderstood.

That line is totally said in the game.

LOL, that example is so silly because it makes it sound like Joel is self-aware he's in a story called "The Last of Us"

Really...? I mean, I won't say you are wrong, but I feel like this is the very first and only mainline Metal Gear game where I can just remember 2 or 3 tunes of the entire soundtrack.... =(

I couldn't find a single theme that even matched the awesomeness of "Outer Heaven" from the Peace Walker OST.

Dat tune at minute 3:25 screamed "Outer Heaven" to me more than the entire soundtrack of MGSV.

While I agree that other MGS games had some better music, some of the themes in this game were series' classics honestly imo. V has Come To, A Phantom Pain, Sins of the Father, and Return were all very good, but very very underutilized. Return is a classic, and I consider that to be Venom's theme tbh. The whole OST is just criminally underutilized, or used in horrible scenes (Jeep scene...... WHYYY?)

I think you linked to "A Phantom Pain" twice

The soundtrack was very memorable overall, also really liked the use of The Man Who Sold The World.

When I think of Snake I think of the Old Snake theme, just too damn good.

^Nice.

Listening to it on youtube with subtitles and the lyrics of the song seem to make so much sense within the context of the game.

Huh.

So the ending:
Venom (and the player) both want revenge on Big Boss. Both for having fooled them the entire game and making them do his bidding. So it is about revenge at the very end. In fact, we, as the player kind of become the villain along with Venom by wanting revenge on the real Big Boss.

I dunno, I didn't really feel like I became the villain. But that could be one interpretation of the ending.
