I just ran the update .exe files out of curiosity and it lists the firmware notes.
The PS4 guitar (no update for Xbox guitar) update is for possible connection issues when using the latest PS4 firmware, and the PS4/Xbox drums is for improved hit detection during rapid fills.
So for the songs going up this weekend.
How will we be able to download them on Xbox One?
(I am a TOTAL noob when it comes to navigating my Xbox One.. I only bought the console for Rock Band...)
Getting Band Bundle and Legacy Adapter on Tuesday![]()
On their website it has the huge list of legacy songs, if I don't own any of those can I buy them starting with rockband 4?
Where are these instrument firmware update files located?
It's confirmed that this works? because the descriptions states that you do need the disc.I don't think Harmonix ever negotiated disc export rights at the same time they licensed for the disc.
Also, I'm about to play RB3 with a buddy. come watch!
www.twitch.tv/hedgey
yes, that's all you have to do. but you should do it now,not later
This is a very good/interesting point. Why would they not negotiate export stuff for RB3 JUST IN CASE? Rock Band 1 and Rock Band 2 were immediately/shortly after launch of the next game available to export right? Just weird that this wouldn't be the same for RB3 exporting to whatever the next RB game would be. Maybe it's the fact that this is a different system/new console generation? When Rock Band 3 came out Harmonix probably wouldn't have been able to predict their next game wouldn't be until the XBone, PS4 came out and maybe the verbiage in their export agreements didn't include ANY consoles going forward? Just spit-balling...[*]Rock Band 3 song export: This is two-fold. The fact that Harmonix never bothered negotiating for song exports for Rock Band 3 when it was being developed really means Rock Band 3 is my Mummy 3. Take the songs from Rock Band 3 and add in the harmony support, bundle it to Rock Band 2, and you have the ultimate game. The spades system is stupid and everything else felt very unpolished. Part two will be discovered when the game is launched. If there is an export code in the box, then this isn't a cash-in by Harmonix, but a revival of a franchise.
You can tell by the fact that I brought this up that I'm highly skeptical of this

They've never negotiated exports ahead of time. It's always been a case of going back to the licenseholders and working out a deal.
Uh, Rock Band 2, Lego Rock Band, Green Day Rock Band, AC/DC Rock Band, and even The Beatles: Rock Band all disagree with you on that one.
Song exporting was first introduced with RB2, back-negotiated with RB1, and outside RB3, all launched with it. Hell, I forgot to toss in Rock Band Blitz into the list. They asked for export rights for The Beatles: Rock Band, but didn't get permission. Still, it counts as trying unlike RB3 and possibly RB4.
I'd like to believe that this Harmonix is the same one from several years ago. I'd love to believe that RB4 is the foundation of the next-gen platform and they'll honor their promise of restoring features from the previous iterations.
I'm also going to play my friend's copy and continue to let my stuff gather dust until I'm sure this is all true ...

For everyone talking about exports and Harmonix not having it planned from the start on RB3
I would like to note that the back of the manual for RB3 has a code on the top.
Only the EA versions have this code not the MadCatz versions.
Eric Pope is best pope.So in case you guys haven't heard, the Midi Pro Adapter works on PS4 which means you can use your E-kits for Pro Drums! No word yet on IONs but if you have a drum brain then that will work with the MPA.
Has this been delayed? Seeing reports around the web.
I'm probably missing something, but I can't seem to find game and adapter bundles for PS4 in the UK? Loads of XB1 bundles, but nothing for PS4. Any idea why that's the case? Thanks!
You don't need an adapter for PS4

Great question, no one knows yet. I'd say there's a decent chance that your ability to download legacy DLC early could be tied to you having a digital preorder of the game.
I don't see Harmonix/Microsoft/Sony indiscriminately firing off a large download of data on everyone's systems without them knowing that you own the game first, and a digital preorder is the only way to tell.
In other, more expected news, Europe is not getting a digital RB4 preorder.

Still no indication of release date delivery on the legacy adapters. Really hoping they ship just like the games and bundles. Don't want my day off to go to waste.
Oh Sony Europe, you've done it again... you pieces of shit.

Is this GAME's fault? They're boasting that the pre-order bonus is exclusive to them.

We ever going to get hip hop in Rock Band? Would kill for a hip hop expansion using mainly the mic.

Well we know that chart is wrong on one thing. The MPA DOES work on PS4. And it's interesting that it says the keyboard will be recognized as a guitar controller even though they've said it wouldn't work before. There's all kinds of weird going on with this compatibility stuff. Also it find it hard to believe that Singstar mics don't work since they work with the Singstar app on PS4.Just googled them and those aren't the songs that come with the digital preorders in the US. However, I haven't seen this chart of working instruments that they have before, it's different to the one Harmonix put out:

According to this the Warriors of Rock guitar works on PS4 which I was hoping was true anyway in spite of the Harmonix chart. We should know for sure soon enough but here's hoping!
Anyone that has the new Guitar for PS4, is there a dedicated Share button or how about an overdrive button? Is the only way to activate is to tilt?
"If you are planning on activating Overdrive with the controller's button (typically by palming) you're gonna be in for a bad time. Due to Sony removing a Select button and replacing it with the "Share" button, this isn't possible on the new guitars at the very least."
