Just 3, the export code was all you needed for rock band 4. As long as that is in your download list/history you'll be fine come next tuesday.
Try to borrow a disc or buy one for like a couple bucks if you want to play them for a week till RB4 lol.

For Rock Band 1, the export key should be enough. The Rock Band 1 disc installs the individual songs directly to your hard drive, but only the export key appears in your purchase history, which the DLC transfer is based on.

Alright just so I know I have this right, I will need a Rock Band 1 disc to get the songs onto Rock Band 3? Sorry, now that I have 3 sitting here I kind of want to play, especially with the most amount of songs I can get a hold of.

I don't know how much anyone here knows about past DLC, but is there any chance that songs that have been taken down can be put back up again in the future? Were they taken down because the artists just didn't want them up anymore after the deal ran out or they didn't want to extend the deal at whatever price the artist wanted? Maybe some of the popular songs will return if the game sells well.
I'm just sad that I can't play Don't Stop Believing.
I think I stopped playing the game just before it was released as DLC and haven't played it since. It would be cool to have Smooth Criminal too. Doesn't beat the original but it's nice to have it in some form.

They were taken down because it would cost too much money to relicense them. However, with the new game it's possible, but unlikely.

Looks like when you stream from the PS4 version, the music is muted. Not all of the audio, just the actual music. I'm watching someone play what I believe to be Light Up the Night and it's really awkward.

Yeah I could not watch the stream, its no fun without the music. But I did realize that I am pretty damn excited for the game. I can't wait to get into it again.

There was a lot of news coming out about Rock Band 3. It was all in the thread. Some higher ups came in the thread, shocked that this news (I believe it was keyboard support) didn't have its own thread, and either instated or just reminded them of the policy that all major news needs its own thread since most people would ignore a regular OT.
So many of the regular RB OT thread, feeling that this policy completely derails and splits discussion, made a shitload of new threads, one for each new feature in RB3. And everyone that made those spam threads got banned.

Still not 100% sure how suitable it is to discuss here, but with RB4's release imminent, C3 is basically wrapping things up re: weekly releases, with this Friday's being the final one.
One of the folks involved in the project put together a nice retrospective video, available in a long version (19:24) and a short version (4:21). Was a nice look back at a window of time that, between that and RBHP, I will always remember fondly.

Just saw some crazy news over on the Rock Band subreddit- apparently some of the new instruments will require a day one firmware update via PC.
On Xbox One you can connect the instruments via usb, but on PS4 you can only connect the instruments to PC for the update via Bluetooth.
*From the MadCatz website- Rock Band 4 Wireless Fender Stratocaster for Xbox One - no update required
Seems like this might be a nightmare at retail with customers returning instruments that they think don't work.

I just ran the update .exe files out of curiosity and it lists the firmware notes.
The PS4 guitar (no update for Xbox guitar) update is for possible connection issues when using the latest PS4 firmware, and the PS4/Xbox drums is for improved hit detection during rapid fills.

I'm hoping for this too, I want one last feeding frenzy at the sale prices without having to navigate the currently glitched RB3 music store or Microsoft's website.
