Rock Band 4 announced for PS4 and Xbox One

the twitter account confirmed that you cannot activate OD on the PS4 guitar any other way except to tilt.

heres a post on the forums

I don't understand why they can't add another button and tie it to the click event of the touchpad? That functions as the select button.

Just googled them and those aren't the songs that come with the digital preorders in the US. However, I haven't seen this chart of working instruments that they have before, it's different to the one Harmonix put out:

Rock-Band-4-Compatibility-Chart.png

According to this the Warriors of Rock guitar works on PS4 which I was hoping was true anyway in spite of the Harmonix chart. We should know for sure soon enough but here's hoping!

The ION drum on PS4 is compatible? Did i miss something? I thought it was not the case?

According to Reddit, the stats screen doesn't show the pro drums logo when playing pro drums. I really hope this is changed because I take screenshots of my scores and now there won't be immediate visual proof of the instrument.

Is that really the entire stats screen? No streak, no scrolling up and down for a score breakdown?

It was confirmed by a streamer that is part of the Road Crew that the MPA works (so e-kits) and the ION should work in the same theory, but no one has tested I believe

Edit: confirmed for PS4, avoiding confusing people

I know tilt is practically broken on my old instruments, I have to wait in-between notes before it turns on. I wanted the new guitar anyway, old ones are just worn out. Blue gives out if you don't press hard enough etc. Ah well, I used to be able to turn on the overdrive in heavy guitar riff parts using Select, much easier.

Whaaa-- hold up. Fuck. Should I cancel my Band in a Box order and just go for a MPA? I just wanted to use my Yamaha kit in the first place... :/
I mean why they gotta be so secretive about all this.

Well it depends which system you have, only confirmed working for PS4 so don't go canceling just yet lol

So in case you guys haven't heard, the Midi Pro Adapter works on PS4 which means you can use your E-kits for Pro Drums! No word yet on IONs but if you have a drum brain then that will work with the MPA.
Will the Xbox 360 midi adapter work with the Xbox One vers if you have the legacy device adapter?

Yeah... As people are getting their hands on the game, stuff that's missing from RB3 just keeps getting revealed. :(
Dang, I always enjoyed looked at all those post-song stats. This just seems like such a massive downgrade from Rock Band 3 in every way. So much stuff missing from little things to big things. That being said, I have still already pre-ordered and pre-loaded the XBone digital version and am waiting on the adapter from Amazon to *hopefully* get to me on launch day. Maybe we could get a list together of everything the community would love for them to add in these updates they will hopefully continue doing to this game/platform?

omg this MPA news changes everything, I'm so excited! No 300 bucks for RB4 and I'm even thinking about going digital :D :D :D

Only downside is the MPA I just ordered will take two weeks until it arrives :(

It feels like we're at least a year off development to make the game just on par with Rock Band 3 when it comes to missing features, and I am even excluding Keyboard and Pro Guitars.

We will see how true Harmonix is to their words when they say they're continuously going to upgrade their game with new features. I would feel a lot more comfortable buying this game if Harmonix was more open with their future plans. They are calling themselves indy, but are still expecting us to pay full price for their game. Only reason why I am even considering buying this game, is because I can understand they need to secure a bigger budget to get the funds to keep continue expanding the game, and what we're getting now is just the first few pieces of a much bigger picture.

Still the biggest factor for me is no online. I will probably shelve this game in a matter of weeks after finishing the storyline and hunted down most of the trophies, then go back to RB3 and continue playing with my friends there. When online is included I can see myself playing RB4 continuously for years to come.

Here's a list of features I know people have been asking for:

- Online (Quickplay, Score Duel, Campaign)
- Practice mode
- ION Support
- Pro Guitar + Piano
- Individual trackspeed
- RB3, RBN, missing DLC
- More detailed stats overview
- Leaderboards

Feel free to add more...

Individual trackspeeds are in and the December patch will add an option for some players to use Breakneck speed while others don't and keys/pro guitar is most likely unrealistic but the rest needs to happen. Leaderboards should already be in as well just not working right now and IONs should work on PS4.

One of the things I love with the Warriors of Rock guitar is the long overdrive button under the strum bar you can easily press with the palm of your hand. Such a great feature for when the tilt just isn't working correctly or you need to focus.

I know you already mentioned them but my top 3 would be RBN DLC (so many good songs :\), Online and more detailed stats screen (at least note streak and average multiplier).

I know Pro keys/guitars is very unlikely to ever happen, I just didn't want to omit it for all the people out there who have requested it. Also I know that we will get individual trackspeed in the first patch, but just thought I could put it up there since it's not out yet.

Great news if ION ends up working on PS4. How about Xbox users? Leaderboards is in as well? Nice.

The official chart has been updated and it's close to the one I posted earlier:

WoR guitar support on PS4, yessssssssss. IONs are confirmed working on PS4 too.

Both amazing news. My WoR guitar is still alive after being actively used since 2010. By far the best guitar I've ever tried. I love the fret buttons and strum bar. Size is perfect for me and its weight is just right.

I know some drummer friends who is going to be very happy with ION support.

I don't understand this sentiment. Indie games can't be full price?

Ofc they can if the content is there. In this case they are calling themselves Indy while releasing a full priced game with a lot of missing features and much less songs then previous games, which I might add, paid less for than what I'll have to pay for this game.

Yeah the WoR guitar is great!

The GH2 PS2 guitar is in testing, I still have mine but didn't think that could happen. It would be awesome if that ended up somehow working too!

So let's get this straight, if you're in the US and you preordered, you've got at least 75 new songs coming your way on day 1, with the ability to play the vast majority of your past DLC. How's that "much less songs"?

This is the only Rock Band game for this console gen. It will continue to grow and evolve and eventually have a feature set that is more comparable to RB3 than it is today. It's nice to see them commit to new features beyond the usual string of ongoing new DLC.

Sweet, that confirms that my Logitech GH guitar will work on Xbox One along with the Fender Strat. I just need the legacy adapter to ship now and I then I might not even unpack the RB4 guitar.

Forget RB3, a highest note streak counter was there from the first Guitar Hero. With all the focus on the big new things it seems like all the little things have been forgotten.

But still, as long as the core game itself is good, I guess that's what matters. I'd take minimal but fun and stable over feature filled but buggy as hell. Rock Band 4 2.0 is going to be amazing. Shame that we'll have to wait a lot longer for it.

I think he's talking about the tracklist, and that is smaller, and carries lesser quality as the previous games in the franchise (Somewhat understandable due to budget and stuff), I also don't think you can add pre-order DLC to the list because not everyone is going to have that. Some retailers don't participate.

The continued support is nice but quite honestly, the game should ship with some of those things. It is going to be pretty bland without it. I've not seen the actual menu yet but it does not sound like there is going to be too much to do.

I'm still very excited but I am worried if the game can leave a good impression when it is getting reviewed. Then again I might be wrong about the features, I've only read things and not actually played the game yet.

So Singstar mics confirmed not working. Why? They use a USB dongle just like everything else.

I guess I need to dig out the old crappy RB1 wired mic then. I rarely used three anyway.

No wireless Singstar mics?

That seems odd.

Well, I don't 100% trust that list right now. Rock Band 1 once added a patch that claimed to add wireless Singstar microphone support... but they already worked. So maybe, uhh??? In terms of the PS3/PS4 recognizing them, it's all the same to the console.

No streak counter? Thats such a dissapointing omission. I understand that they want this game to be more casual/party friendly, but if they're removing pretty much all the stat tracking why even have a score? Or a fail meter? I'm not a competitive player at all but I still love all that seeing all the stats after songs.

I'm trying to stay optimistic but stuff like this is so concerning.

So does the microphone that comes with the Xbox one work? I used to sing while playing the guitar at the same time lol and it helps because it fits like a headphone instead of having to hold it.

again omg, what is this day? First the awesome MPA news, and now I score a "very good condition" PS3 WoR controller for 20€ (with the game even lol). All of that just saved me like 190€ %)

I heard multiple versions of songs (Queen RB1 and RB3 enhanced releases, for example) will be turned into one new track for RB4. Will they just revert to the RB1 style now that we have no keys?
