An ongoing story that extends with character DLC would be really cool, or just as a separate story DLC for people who want it.

I'm not the biggest fan of NRS's approach to story, I find it serviceable enough but not the ultimate form of story in fighting games like some people seem to treat it, so I hope Capcom has their own method in mind with this game.

Or, you know, we just get 2 panel arcade endings like MvC3. I remember when they hyped up the story for that game, too.

DLC characters in Skullgirls all came with their own stories, but there's no canonical progression of events for the main story (and the characters who were deemed necessary to make one were never voted in during the crowdfunding campaign).

It's not . But i don't see why lack of SF3 characters automatically makes Charlie's story bad.

Urien is most likely in the story mode , I think he will be among the first DLC.

I'll play it till it's dead just like sf4. Cept at the beginning if 4 I was just learning how to play fighters so I just took what was there, now I just want characters whose playstyles and personalities fit me.

Dream is not dead until we see the evidence. If we saw first ten characters without Wolverine then I'm more likely support your stance since Wolverine is basically face of marvel side for versus.

He did his SPD on the ground and air. But I was surprised that he might lose his green hand.

Also I still believe in Alex @ NYCC!

Unlike most of people giving up thier hopes so easily. I'm going to held it hard and go all way with it.

I think green hand is a fair trade off for all that other shit they gave him, he might be too good in this game, guess we will see.

And I'm still on the Alex at NYCC train, but as a DLC announcement, probably already finished for day 1.

It's the reason why I focus more & more on the facts that we have at that moment rather than my own personal opinion, to minimize disappointment. In the case of Alex & Urien, they lined up with my love of Third Strike, hence why I ended up being disappointment.

Maybe we just gotta wait for his moveset to be released. I recall thinking Ken lacked a regular DP because they didn't showcase it (only V-Trigger'd/EX) in the Comic Con reveal.
 
So what event was this announced at? With so many other events incoming it's kinda odd they'd show one of the 4 remaining characters.

Now, what I'm wondering about most now is why Zangief comes with his own stage, one that is shown on the character art above, instead of him sharing the wrestling stage with R.Mika that was shown in her art.

Either Capcom is planning to make far more stages than they've shown so far, perhaps even as DLC, or they've somehow chosen to be completely inconsistent with regards to which character art has a background that will appear in an actual stage.

I still hope it's the former and that we'll see many more stages, including a New York stage (from Ken's art), a Dubai one (from Rashid's art) etc.

Always a chance, but I'm not going to put any faith in it. It's bargaining, and that's stupid.

Though I do find it odd that a character was revealed in an event that this thread never even mentioned once.

Haha! Kouichi pls! It's just different with Smash. I'm not even optimistic with few characters for DLC but I can't be selfish since I already got most of wanted characters.

I already got what I wanted for SFV. Of course, I still want to see more. I would love to see Hakan but his chance is pretty low! :(

I love 3s but I still think they are coming either way. I can't really see SFV without Dudley, Urien, Alex and Ibuki. I might be wrong on that.
 
Man, they really need to show a Story trailer or something soon :(. They've talked about the story being important but haven't shown any type of cinematic trailers compared to SFIV which had many of those before launch like the rival trailers and some anime ones also. For a game being about Shadaloo's downfall, there's not a lot of Illuminati related characters besides zombie Charlie and Necalli....makes no sense at all at the moment. I really wished Capcom didn't say the 16 character launch number at Evo since it only limited themselves from making more before launch.

I think hoping that this game has a worthwhile story is like hoping Mortal Kombat has good netplay.
 
Wow, Just saw the reveal.

Well, Dahlgren's "characters you expect to see in a Street Fighter game" certainly does look like SF2 classics now.

I was thinking this would be the case after his interview descriptions and given Vega in that set of 8.

I'm not excited about Zangief, but now this makes Guile pretty much a lock, being a classic character, no projectile/charge/zoner and the most tied to Nash . Either the last classic character, or initial DLC. The main argument against Guile being in was the Alex/Urien rumorand their apparent lack of focus on the classics, but that's obviously not the case now.

Guile makes sense for NYCC, with them pairing character nationality with events. Dhalsim fills a playstyle hole, but so does Guile. I give the edge to Guile though because of story ties.

How did it slip by everyone up until yesterday or so, that there was an event in Russia?

I've convinced myself that different colored Blankas are taking the remaining 3 spots, so if it's anything other than that I'll be happy
I haven't actually done that but I have become very suspicious of next week
