USF4 doubled the SF4 cast. Its not Overkill at all. Its actually pretty low , because the initial roster is just 16 characters.
We need like 10 more characters just to equalize with SF4s launch roster.

It will be interesting to see what pace the DLC characters are released at. I would assume that they will be releasing characters fairly rapidly for the first three to four months or so... Maybe a new character every 2-3 weeks? Then it will probably slow down and be closer to a new character every month to month and a half...
Even if you double those guesstimates (which are, admittedly, based on pure speculation) you still have around fifteen characters in the first three year...
Twenty sounds like a very reasonable number considering that they have said that there won't be additional releases after the base game.
That being said, it will all depend on the success of the game. If the game is hyper successful they will be quite happily pumping out content for the game. If the game can't sustain a consistent fanbase then we will never see a fully fleshed out roster.
I hope they give us a rough outline of their plans at some point the in the near future...

Laura is a soccer player zoner, and Zen is our boxer.
I think Laura will be a Boxer. It would be nice to see a female bocer. Also we don't have any boxers in the initial roster, and I doubt the last returning character will be Balrog or Dudley.
I'd be more willing to bet Laura is a boxer and Zen is a chi ball throwing motherfucker.
I really hate Dhalsim and hope he's not in. Characters who stretch are the lamest imo. That's why I've always hated Dhalsim, Mr Fantastic, Elastic Man and now the new Ms. Marvel. Stretching just looks silly and dumb.
If they must have a stretching character I hope it's Zen, and he doesn't physically stretch so much as he extends out a "shadow limb "or something.
I dunno. SNK always managed to make it look cool.

I wish they had stick Dhalsim with the linear elongation of limbs, and just have Necro for the more circular limb elongation.

Yeah Vanessa is cool. Her moveset is so fun, Capcom should do wonders with a new set of Boxer special moves. Dudley and Balrog have nice boxing special moves in wonder what else they can think of. As for design I think they can come up with a cool looking Brazilian female Boxer design.
Adon relevant? I've fucking heard it all now.
Give Zen Paul's moveset from SFxT too.

SF3 is the least relevant SF (outside of SF1) by every objective metric from a business standpoint. Must be a red pill moment for its fans right now. Even 1 SF3 character would be a miracle. I love Adon but he is in no shape or form a "relevant character", and the rampant "*insert character* is better than others because reasons" stuff is getting annoying. Doesn't matter if it's SF2, A, 3 or 4.

Console SF4 was released months after arcade SF4. This is the first version of the game ever, just like Vanilla arcade.
