I don't think that was the intent of that tweet, however. It was very clearly trying to suggest that the answer to this tragedy is to bring in more guns.

Can you bring the whole conceal carry being allowed thing to his attention?

I'm not saying it was the intent of the tweet, I was just responding to you.

I'm not tweeting at that lunatic!

Would 4chan admin support the FBI if they come a knocking for IP addresses?

A new guy just took over, so it's hard to say. Probably? 4Chan users have tipped off police and schools about troubling posts in the past and stopped things like this prematurely, so I could certainly see it.

Vote. And donate to organizations that advocate such actions. Check out Moms demand action and the Brady campaign. For all the chest thumping people do regarding hating guns they tend to do very little actual grass roots organizing.

You'll never get guns banned outright but demanding so in serious numbers would eventually lead to concessions in regards to policy.

But that won't happen because most people will pluck a keyboard against gun violence but don't actually do shit.
All that goes for responsible gun owners, too. If you're letting the NRA speak for you, you're part of the problem. I'm pretty sure, in your case, from previous discussions, that isn't the case, but I think it's reasonable to point out that this isn't only a problem for gun control advocates, it's a problem for gun enthusiasts. Every time something like this happens, it negatively effects our perception of gun owners. A way to remedy that is to either shit can the NRA or force them to support the sensible gun control laws most of their constituents do.

It is insane. Things are starting to feel like they are reaching a boiling point in this country. I have no idea why the number of mass shootings is so high in the last handful of years, but its scary.

That said, I want to be able to own a gun for a few important reasons:

- When shit gets bad and we have riots because there is not enough food or water, I want a way to protect my family. When you have pissed off looters at the door, a baseball bat isn't going to be enough. Prowlers in the night don't concern me as much as a state of emergency where the general public is rattled and partially out of control. Things like the drought in California this year have me a little scared to be honest. Imagine if that's just the tip of the iceberg, how bad can things get?

You have a wonderful imagination.

Worse than the NRA are the the kind of people who consider the desktop 3D Printer the next great invention because everyone will be able to make their own guns. Those are the kind voices the gun nuts look up to, not so much the NRA.

Interestingly, two students with guns were found at the high school I work at today, and there was another issue with weapons at another high school in my district.

Shit is just getting out of hand. I almost feel like I need to wear a vest everywhere I go.

Terribly, terribly sad. :(
Why are mass shootings mainly at school's or collage's? Is it a bullying thing?
It's a young person, maximizing hurt thing. Until you're twentysomething, school tends to be the focus of your life, and it's young people who have been the shooters recently. In the past it happened at food service locations frequently, mostly by older shooters.

On February 4, 2009, a posting on the 4chan /b/ board[143] said there would be a school shooting at St Eskils Gymnasium in Eskilstuna, Sweden. 1250 students and 50 teachers were evacuated.[144] A 21-year-old man was arrested after 4chan had provided the police with the IP address of the poster. According to the police the suspect said it was a joke and he was released after they found no indication that the threat was serious

I think moot said in a court case that he'd done it a few times also.

As far as I know, mods and admins have access to IP addresses and hand them over if needed.

Let's petition and make it happen. US needs heads to roll ,lets start with the 4chan Chucklefucks.

Let's also vote in people who will legislate for federally mandated gun controls.

People egged him on, then celebrated:

So much for humanity. What's the motivation here in encouraging him? I've visited several jihadi networks and lived around jihadi wannabees and understand their motivations, religious fanaticism, what about this? Are people just bored? Aimless? Depressed? I mean even an ISIS fanatic would not kill without reason (regardless of how fucked up it is).

Examples he mentioned practically banned private gun ownership. I disagree with him, but kudos to him for giving an unfiltered response.

I'm not American so I probably shouldn't be commenting about US politics

Gotta say thought: I think guns as power balance between government and people is such a fucking dumb premise, seems like a law conceived in medieval times, a great recipe for disaster.

It's sad you can tell this speech was prepared ahead of time with all the counter-arguments he's putting into it.

Edit: Sad that he knew he would get to use it :(

Obama sounding like me right now pointing out how states with higher gun control laws manage to have lower rates of gun deaths.

Also good on Obama owning the label of politicizing this.
