Would it be illegal or against our rights to monitor 4chan activity like the gobernment does childporn sites and the likes??

I mean, stuff in that site is just twisted, they shouldn't find a voice or validation, they need help

I don't think it's illegal for them to monitor it, and I'm actually fairly certain they do, or at least respond to reports of illegal content on it. The site's anonymous to fellow posters, but certainly isn't to authorities. If you meant should they moderate the site though, fuck no.

Anyways, I suspect that a lot more threats on 4chan go responded to than get reported on.

May I post a couple things, somewhat off topic?

I recently saw this. Thoughts? It essentially goes on about the reason for these shootings being lack of empathy, lack of speaking out when folks notice potential warning signs...

Also, if someone close to you (family, friends, whatever) was talking like how we hear these shooters were acting before, saying and believing the things we hear even years in advance or at a young age, would you do anything? Tell anyone? What would you do?

It's hard to say man. I probably would do nothing to be honest.

So the campus in Oregon allowed concealed carry, and a veteran actually had a gun on him but did not want to use it for fear of being confused with the shooter when SWAT arrived.

“A veteran who says he was carrying a concealed weapon on the UCC campus Thursday when 26-year-old Christopher Harper Mercer went on a murderous rampage, says he didn’t intervene because he knew police SWAT team members wouldn’t know him from the shooter.

In an interview with MSNBC, vet John Parker said he knows lots of students who conceal carry at the school because, despite a school policy that discourages weapons on campus, Oregon state law does allow it.

...Parker explained that his military training provided him with the skills to “go into danger,” but said he felt lucky he and others didn’t try to get involved going after Mercer.

“Luckily we made the choice not to get involved,” he explained. “We were quite a distance away from the building where this was happening. And we could have opened ourselves up to be potential targets ourselves, and not knowing where SWAT was, their response time, they wouldn’t know who we were. And if we had our guns ready to shoot, they could think that we were bad guy.”

Problem with everyone being armed. How do you know who the bad guy is, exactly? What if you are shooting at the person shooting at the bad guy. How will the cops who arrive know who the hell to shoot/arrest when everyone has their guns out?

I guess the right has decided to take the angle of blaming autism for this. :/

2 days in a row online threats have lead to security alerts at Universities in Australia. Yesterday a threat posted on 4chan resulted in a lockdown at the University of New South Wales. Today the University of Tasmania has issued a security alert.... also thanks to a post on 4chan.
