Fucking hell...much more at the source.
It's those kind of comments that make me worry of copycats...

honestly I wish I could move out. the people here disgust me more and more every time we have a mass shooting or a presidential election.

but...this is home. everyone I love is here.

Yeah this is where I'am at. I'd want nothing more than to move to an actual progressive country, but at the same time, as much as I despise it, America is my home.

As another outside of america I honestly can't even wrap my head around it. Americans are probably tired of hearing that maybe but I can't even...

It's shit like this that makes me roll my eyes when people say "4chan isn't as bad as it's made out to be." The site is trash, all of it.

Not really, no. Just keep away of the shithole boards and it's fine. It's like saying Reddit is trash because of the horrible subreddits.

Well that's stupid reasoning.
It's a stupid coincidence that I could see people who unreasonably blame weed for things blame weed for this. I was just bringing it up. Your demeaning reply is way less warranted than my observation.

Which nobody is doing in this case.

That's great. I hope it stays that way.

I'm seriously sick in the stomach. US gun laws make me sick in the stomach. This shit needs to stop for your own good

Basically this. Of course they're gonna have complete dumbasses on probably the 2nd worst place on 4chan. (/b/ and /r9k/ are probably the source of most of the 4chan idiocy you see around aside from the typical attention whoring present on nearly all boards)

Just asking, but can people not quote every image when they reply to that post? :/

I saw this on the news when I was visiting a family member.

Horrible stuff, and so unnecessary.

May those who died rest in peace and those who are injured heal well and quickly without much pain. My condolences to those affected.

Why are all the posts saying "Don't do it" cropped out?

Edit: Oh, you just didn't post them.

Most of the don't do it posts are self serving assholes who are more concerned with their guns. "Don't do it it! it will make gun owners suffer"

Allowed in what way? The trash bin icon in the OP post on the archive means the thread was deleted by moderators.

Yeah it was deleted after the event happened and 4chan was about to get on the news

"You might want to target a girls' school as there will be no beta males throwing themselves around trying to protect them". What the fuck!? It's like a gathering of scorned psychopaths venting their frustration. Scary.

I don't think we should be caught up on 4chan. There were people that told him not to do it. And talking about it isn't what caused him to actually go out and do it or provide the means for him to carry it out.

So is that 4chan stuff just edgelord shit? Are people really that depraved? Fucking hell.

Bit of A, bit of B. There's a clear sense in which 4 chan is performance of course. Some people say horrid shit specifically so that it'll get passed around (like it is now). "Haha the sheeple thought I was being earnest those idiots are so gullible!" Sincerity is so complicated when it comes to chan. I generally think it's best to just avert eyes and move on. Idle hand-wringing about chan is just what a certain segment of them want, and just serves to publicize the whole enterprise.

I kind of agree with the other people on this page, /r9k/ should probably be deleted. It's original purpose was to make a board where no two posts where alike and that's long gone.

It's just become an insular "feel bad for yourself, blame everyone else for your problems and do nothing to improve" board. Fucked up thing is if this was posted on /b/ which is usually considered the worst board, someone would have probably reported this sooner.

Do you believe that tackling the gun problem ends the issue?

As a gun owner with 4 or 5 hand guns and a CCW permit for the last 5 years....YES. Tackling the gun problem would address the lion's share of the issue and I believe that proper gun regulation and reforms would have prevented the majority of these school, mall and theater shootings. It wouldn't stop the military base shootings. It would greatly reduce the number of other shootings.

Tackling the mental health issue is also essential but not to stop gun crime; but to reduce crime in general and ensure a healthier populous. We need better mental care, less hurdles between that care and those who need it, and a culture that doesn't shun those who need mental health care. It would also mean sending less people to jail for non-violent crimes (usually drug offenses) and instead getting them rehab and the mental health care they need to put the pieces of their lives back together again.

We can do both simultaneously and we need to. Because hoping that we begin to take mental health care seriously may be a 25 year wait. Meanwhile, we've seen the positive effects of both improved mental health care and greatly reduced access to semi-automatic firearms and revolvers in 1st world nations around the world. I wouldn't miss any of my firearms for more than a week (I have a lot of fun shooting at ranges). They're not that important to me.

Walk and chew gum at the same time and begin to put an end to one of our great national shames.

Same deal with the Port Arthur massacre in Australia in 1996. Roughly 1 mass shooting a year in Australia in the ten years before 1996. Guns laws enacted. Hasn't been one since.
Yeah, but now those countries are dystopian tyrannies where the government has total control over aspect of your life, so you win some, you lose some.

nah it's trash.

I'm sure a lot of it is, but it's just not strictly moderated and the discussion of a lot of topics is allowed. People discussing camping stoves on the outboard board have nothing to do with this garbage.

You might as well just say "The Internet is trash" which is more accurate.

You seriously don't think being a part of a community like that and having people cheering you on can motivate someone to actually go through with something like this?

And that is exactly it's problem. Not every site needs to be moderated like GAF, but at the same time if a site chooses not to moderate, and it attracts a shit ton racists, sexists, homophobes and people who encourage someone to go on a killing spree, then relish when it actually happens. Then I'm going to call that site trash. It can't have it's cake and eat it too.

Scathing, eh. It was really passive aggressive. Him basically saying that he can't do anything but it isn't his fault. He doesn't care because he doesn't have to run for any more elections.

That's a totally fair thing for him to say though. He *can't* do anything. At least not without causing a Constitutional crisis and like open insurrection.

People laughing over the Beta male club thing on CNN but they are absolutely right.

20 years ago shitstains like this guy would have cried in their room and if any violence happened we were lucky they offed themselves. Now these people get to meet up with the others like them and find echo chambers for their the world hates us, women are evil, woe is me bullshit.

I mean we had people going so far as to tell him how to maximize kills and how to lure people into a sense of security so they would be easier to massacre.. The people saying not to do it were more concerned with their ownership of a gun than any potential lives lost.
Places like that have no legitimate purpose and need to cease to exist.
