Transformers Devastation (Platinum Games) boss videos on Facebook

You know, for all the problems the live action films have, I think it's really silly and nitpicky to complain that "OPTIMUS HAS A MOUTH AAAAAH"

If you wanna be technical, that wasn't the first time an Optimus would have a visible mouth. Optimus Primal (technically a different character but...) had a mouth on all three of his bodies in BW, and the Optimus Prime in Tranformers Cybertron also had similar looking lips.

Even a lot TF stuff after the first movie would borrow the notion of Prime having a visible jaw, as seen in Transformers Animated and Prime.

Let me say that again Its like a mini Diablo loot in a Transformers game. Something I don't think any fan expected and being able to grind regardless of gameplay type is great.

Also creating your own upgrades with the QTE is both sort of stupid as hell and ultimatly rewarding. Not for a long time but it adds another bit of random allowing you to cultivate a unique gameplay style depending on weapons that randomly drop as well as the upgrades.

The less complex part is disappointing, but I'm really looking forward to the loot system now. Thanks for the details.

Come on, the faceplate is iconic. G1 solidified that. We're not talking about an Optimus, we're talking about the original Optimus Prime. His look is simple and classic. The faceplate is an important part of it.

Film Prime's mouth looks pretty dumb anyway.
 
The thing is, I never really saw Transformers 2007 or its sequels as an adaptation as of G1. TF isn't something that died off back in the 80s and just so happened to be brought back as a movie series, it's a long running and on-going series that constantly reimagines and reboots itself for a new generation. The movies are basically a new continuity separate from the others, much like how Transformers Animated is a separate continuity from the Unicron Trilogy, which is also a separate continuity from Transformers Prime.

I guess that's why I never really minded, at least on paper, the idea of taking a bit more creative liberties with the Transformers' design, mythos, etc. for the film series. All of the TF series I mentioned above didn't just simply rehash G1 and call it a day, they borrowed elements from it and retold it in a newer and different way. The movies did this, too....just really badly.
 
God dammit! Nowadays al games are normally released the same day in US and EU.

But for some retarded reason, it's not the case with Transformers.

I was really looking forward to playing this on my birthday (6th).

But it seems it's getting released on the 9th here.

What a let down.

Here in the UK it's still common for games to be released on a Friday (9th), physical releases at least. So it's not out of the ordinary.

The funny thing is, it was still slated for a October 6th release on Thursday.

When I went to check over the weekend, it was changed to the 9th.

I know it happens often, but not changing the releasedate a few days prior to initial release.

I know this. It's why I pre ordered digitallly and waiting to play. Reviews can push sales and I'm hoping its received well so it can sell more. With no reviews out there it might cause hesitation amongst the general consumer . You know what I'm getting at.

Yeah, as expected with a technical action game, none of these dudes with early copies know what they're doing. It's a shame that most of these early videos are from huge channels that will likely get most of the views for raw footage. If Activision continues their partnership with Platinum, they seriously need to give codes out to the character action game community. Does anyone remember the short marketing campaign for DmC : Definitive Edition? If so, you probably remember that the gameplay in those videos was much better than other games in the genre. That is because they flew out SamD (a DmC player with 1000+ hours on the original) to do the promotional footage. While the game didn't sell well based on the legacy and drama surrounding it, I thought this was a huge step in the right direction in terms of how the public perceives these games via the official footage. The PR people for Transformers seem to just be giving out codes to big channels, without checking to see if they could actually show the game the way it's meant to be played.

I think the lack of reviews is more about Activision really not giving a crap about promoting this game. We've seen enough to know it's not a Korra.

Well the girl I`m seeing right now passed that test. I geeked out massively when I showed her the trailer of Devastation and she thought it was totally rad. When I told her it's by the studio that made Metal Gear Rising she gasped and told me she likes MGR. In fact, she's a massive Metal Gear Solid fangirl.

On geek stuff, I'm safe lol.

Sure sounds like it, but my kids are 9 and 6. MY son is a TF fan. He even plays with my G1 Inferno toy. His birthday is the same as Mario's. I only found that out a few weeks ago.

You bet. Ya the loot system I just loved. Lots of fan favorite weapons in there as well as so many iterations. Its not insanely deep but it was unexpected and added alot to the experience to keep me engaged.

Will we get one though that's the question. I know it's early days to say the least but these are type of games I like supporting with my money, I'm tired of the annual releases of certain franchises.

My wife doesn't like TF so I haven't bothered showing her the trailer or actively marking out over the game to her.
