Posted impressions in another thread, but as a person who knows little about Transformers the game kicks ass. It's a great action game, and if you like anything Platinum has done before you'll love this. Rather short and simple, but good nonetheless. Not AAA, but b-tier. 4/5.

Tempted to purchase this right away, but want to hold off and see what more people have to say about the combat first. Hearing some say that it's even more simple than MGR is somewhat disheartening. I'll be picking it up eventually for sure, just maybe not at full price.

I have no interest in transformers or nostalgia (despite growing up in their prime, i was a MASK kid) but is this going to be a good platinum action game?

You are right. It might just be pure nostalgia talking but I would take that kind of soundtrack over what this game actually has. Not that the new soundtrack is bad or anything but if you are going out of your way to make things seem G1 as possible then you go all the way with it.

My favorite theme in the whole game.

Platinum has consistently had the best "GOTTA SAVE THE WORLD" hype music for years. This game looks to be no different.

As strange as it may sound, I've always had a real thing for the Japanese openings of dubbed Transformers shows.

Two of my favorites are "Evolution of the Soul" (Beast Wars Metals) and The Headmasters theme, both sang by Hironobu Kageyama, funny enough.

...but quite frankly, the best jap opening for a TF show has to be this one, from the first season of Beast Wars.

Matt Trackers car opens its car doors like winds, the Two Motorcycles was the second season one of the badguys care could do that. The best was the Semi truck.
