Transformers: Devastation |OT| Rising in Disguise

Liam can't parry for shit tho.
.

Ya I am laughing out loud. They most definitely are not playing well. Its like a monkey fucking a football.

Yeah there was one guy who kept yelling into his mic. That was too painful to watch. Game looks great though. Just trying a NZ VPN and it didn't unlock, wish this were coming out tonight.
its unwatchable. There are some actual streamers who play well though who will be showing up at midnight tonight. Also expect to see a great number of Let's Plays post as 1 parters lol

Yep with his hands as handlebars and one single wheel.
For me Venom, Thunderhawk, and Rhino were the shit.

great show!

Unlocked 30 minutes ago on Obox One. Just met Devastator for the first time. Got stomped.

Game will feel natural to Bayonetta vets. I'm pretty much at ease with the basic combat controls after coming from Bayonetta 2 on WiiU. I'm not deep enough into the game to see the new weapons or combos or anything, but the basics carry over well.

I wouldn't go nearly that far. It's an early experience with the game and the starts are always rough even if you've played Character Action. The timing in every game is a little bit different.

LOL I would actually go even farther after seeing a couple people today take on the first levels. But arguing over it makes you and I look as stupid:)
So lets talk more about how cool Wheeljack is as a character. Something NO ONE had better arguing about haha

I am sitting here in anticipation to see peoples reaction at the 2.5d levels as well.

Oh, has anyone gotten their hands on the PC version and can report on performance?
I own MGR (still yet to play it, stupid backlog) but from memory it performs like a beast on quite moderate hardware. I don't see this being any different, I'm sure they use the same engine.

I am watching it right now lol. Later stuff is sort of ballz but I love the music in the first season. Very moody for a cartoon.
Nice. Via YouTube, or some other TV streaming service? I now have an itch for some classic 80s cartoons, but only if they're easily accessible. One station here in Australia is broadcasting the original TMNT series and it's a lot of fun... even if most of it is pretty bad.

I downloaded them years ago. I think from something like Limeware or maybe even an IRC client. I have had them since DIVX was a big deal hahahaha.
Youtube occasionally has them as well and you could use a youtubedownloader to collect them I suppose.

Oh dear lord. That could be awesome if its done well.

So the game does have some sort of sound test mode, but it inside character model viewer which is only available after beating the game.

what are you supposed to do to finish the first side mission?

i went in there and it seemed like i killed everything, but nothing happened, then the timer just ran out

there was an orange circle at the end that looked like an exit but no way to interact with it

also, Optimus bugged out during the first Megatron fight and just stood there posing instead of helping

game is really fun so far though

edit - nevermind, guess i missed a guy because the exit worked the second time

You know, who the hell was the damn tank, at the start at the stage, if Blizwing was still in jet mode?

I dislike transformers, so the theme really does nothing for me. Although with that said I enjoy Bayonetta and DMC and LOVE Metal Gear Rising. I really didn't like Legend of Korra though. How does this game compare? Is it more of a low budget game or a crazy character action with awesome bosses and lot a lot of repetition?

Dude commander is really hard lol

I've beaten Bayo 1 and 2 and generally don't have issues with higher difficulties but I've been getting wrecked by the first Devastator boss fight. He does so much damage lol

Consistently get him down to a third health and then destroyed

At least I'm padding out the length of the game haha

Im mostly cheesing through the story mode on commander but man those challenges......near impossible to get an S or above on those(commander obv)

also, imo, optimus is definitely the most useful for the first playthrough. his sweep/ground pound is a life saver and he also takes the most hits before going down.
i havent even touched grimlock mind you, his playstyle feels a little too different.

Just played through the first chapter. It definitely has way more satisfying combat than the Legend of Korra has. Once you get it down and it clicks you'll be busting witch times and transformation combo chains like clockwork. Really enjoying it so far but the world is unfortunately kind of clearly a level and not a living breathing world you can also destroy, which is sort of disappointing considering you are a massive transformer but this was expected so I can't really complain. If this game had more of a budget I can only imagine where Platinum would have taken the epicness.

The Xbox One digital version does not have a functional manual at the moment. It redirects to a website without a manual for this game.

How does one equip any of the dozens of weapons found? I am able to use temporary boosts and buffs, but can't figure out how to swap out weapons in their slots. Do I have to wait until a later point in the game for this feature to present itself? I'm just past the first Megatron battle.

It is when you get to the ark through the green autobot icon.

So what exactly is Overdrive, ive no idea after 3.5 chapters?
and what does the flashing autobot icon t to the left of the hp bar do?

Am I missing something? Because halfway through chapter 2 this game is just tedious. Cookie cutter level design, awkward animation, subpar voice direction. The visual style is great, and the hits feel solid, but that's about it. Not seeing the Platinum depth to the combat at this point.

the challenge missions..

No, I played a couple of those. Still not really seeing it. Seems incredibly simplistic, and the weapon upgrade system is an insane grind. So far I see the flaws of a Platinum game without many of the benefits.

did you try ANY of the boss challenges on harder difficulties? fighting 6 sub bosses ,each of which can 2-3 shot you, all at the same time , and then be followed by a fight with a towering mecha boss that can potentially one shot you is hardly simplistic

I don't think anything like that is unlocked yet. Are you actually getting defensive over the fact that I think the game should be interesting to play at all times, not just during specific challenges?

I'm still in chapter 1 on mission 10 (playing on commander) and I'm having a blast. Boss fights are intense every single time

Having played Platinum games before I assume that playing on normal would be fairly straightforward (especially since this shares so many mechanics with previous games)

I agree that the combat depth may be slightly lacking but the challenge makes up for it (and the aesthetic lends a lot to my enjoyment)

None of the bosses have touched me so far. The most difficult enemies have been the Seekers, and that's just because I occasionally run out of ammo due to the squirrelly aiming. Should I be bumping it up to Hard already? I've typically found Platinum's games to be pretty challenging on Normal, but I guess they scaled this one back.

Rising was a joke on Normal. On Hard it was actually challenging.

Mission 2 is one and its unlocked by beating ch1.

and no im not getting defensive, ch2 had plenty of variations . turret sections ,robot platforming sections, multiple bosses. and it was linear unlike ch1.
personally ive been lucky with weapons i guess, or maybe because i explore and gather rare weapons and do challenges.
ch3 is again very different.
the game cant be complex at all times, just because its simplistic in parts doesn't mean its uninteresting

Well so far I do find it uninteresting, so to me that's exactly what it means. I'll press on into Chapter 2 tomorrow, since you say the variety picks up, but I have to say it doesn't make a very good first impression.

im playing on commander(very hard) and well im not pulling my hair out, yet to die to a boss(3 chapters in) but the last one made me use some healing items.
challenge missions though, are different story entirely.they absolutely wreck you.

Also, bump up the difficulty.loot varies greatly and the game forces you to use the combat mechanics more efficiently.
e/d grade weapons turn into a/b

Has this review been posted yet? Game seems solid, just really short, with some problematic platforming sections.

Edit: oops literally just on the previous page. I think I'm going to wait for the price drop on this one. I like platinum, but don't care much for transformers.

This game is way better than I thought it would be. The combat reminds me a lot of other platinum games in that it feels real good. Story's not half bad either.
